village life and DD I hope you’re just busy being busy and that everything is okay 😀
Hurrah for Friday that’s all I can say 😆
Have a lovely day everyone.6 -
Welcome Highdays, pull up a chair and make a cuppa, this is a nice place to be.
Ouchie indeed Paulie.
For yesterday,
Over to see pony, we had a walk around the field and there were combines working nearby getting in the harvest, usually stubble fields are like catnip to horse owners but the ground is hard and cracked so I wouldn’t risk my girlie’s legs just to have a blast.
Back at the yard and I tidied up her mane & tail plus trimmed her legs a tad, she dozed off.
Lunch and then over to see my elderly friend, it’s been a few weeks as first she had Covid, then she had a fall which resulted in a short spell in hospital so it was lovely to see her and have a good catch up.
Read my book in the garden for a while, enjoying Murder at Evensong by Rev Richard.
Opening ceremony, thought Birmingham did us proud.

Pleasures yesterday
Up early to Lidl, loads of stuff in the £1.50 fruit and veg box, the two bags of organic carrots normally cost more than that, so the rest was free - potatoes, tomatoes, courgettes, blackberries, oranges, bananas, lettuces.
Toad in the hole lunch because it was the sort of day for a meat, veg and gravy meal.
Walk with dog in the afternoon, loads of blackberries on the bushes, and elderberries too, a good crop this year.
Wondering why my posts are very food-themed. Probably because I am a kitchen witch at heart, taking pleasure out of putting good nutrition on a plate and using my armoury of herbs and spices.
Finishing a novel about how a young woman's untimely death changed the lives of four people because she donated her organs.
Watching our big ginger cat go from the sofa to a chair then back again. He couldn't decide where he wanted to be. In the end he claimed the chair, and my son was relegated to the floor. We spoil that cat.
Phone call with Dad, he seems to be in good spirits. Nearly seven weeks now since stepmum died. I'm going down to see him again in a couple of weeks.
Watching a good film on Netflix last night, Don't Look Up, about scientists who discover a comet is going to hit the Earth in about six months time, but nobody's listening. Funny but poignant too.
One life - your life - live it!7 -
Hello again, and thank you so much for the warm welcome, I'm so glad I decided to take the plunge and join you. I'm feeling the need at the moment to 'belong' somewhere, feeling a bit bruised and battered by life and events I can't control so I need to look for, and maybe make, some pleasures, and sharing them here feels like a positive thing to do so thank you for having me!So here are today's, in no particular order:1) I'm home alone for the day, this very rarely happens so a day to myself is a treat, just to potter and do nothing in particular. Today there is nowhere I have to be and nothing urgent I need to do and after a manic couple of weeks this is a great pleasure.2) I have some good books to read, I order them from the local library and some of them are new releases so brand new. I love new books!3) Easy meals today, nice salads and fruit, and we still have some of the treats left from having visitors, things that I wouldn't normally buy but will certainly enjoy - in moderation hopefully, don't want to wreck the diet completely.4) it's Friday! This shouldn't make any difference to us really as we are now retired but somehow the weekend still feels very different to the 'working' week.5) My youngest grandson came yesterday, he is 7 and a total delight. His brothers are now well into their teens and have outgrown us oldies a bit but the 'baby' of the family, although growing up fast, still wants to spend time with us. Watching them all grow up and become what they were always meant to be has been my greatest pleasure. So, even with some tough stuff going on at the moment, there are big pleasures to be had.Hope you all have a good day.8

Busy day in the land of being busy!Up early.Work. Came home mid way for an hour ( hello doggy and hung out washing) then back in. Suits me better to do that. Was paid…and that’s what keeps me going through the week! Into my savings account.
Nipped down to big supermarket which is at other end of town from mine but I was half way there anyway. Our local store had no dog food so got 2 big bags.Went to charity shop whilst at that end got a pair of sandals that look unworn but will clean them anyway ( DD2 horrified ) and a loose top for my forthcoming travels.
Met a friend in the carpark and we had a lovely chat.Home, hello doggy…I need to go and cut the grass.
Then DD2 came home and I went round to mums. Update on decluttering thread.
Popped into OH best friend with a bottle of whisky I’d discovered at the bottom of a wardrobe! I thought it was another tin of knitting needles! Had a good chatter with them. It’s been a lovely day here.7 -
Just lost a post so I shall precis it.
1) Not a bad sleep, once I went to sleep.
2) Cleaned the windows. cut honeysuckle back, swept up, changed one bed etc.
3) My brother popped in then bigger son.
4) Bought samosas from the shop and a Chinese takeaway.
5) Went to wildlife club in the village hall.6 -
For yesterday,
Obviously bed changing day as ours was done as well ☺️ also did the mattress protector as warm & sunny for it to dry on the line.
Over to the yard, decided to bathe the pony as she was filthy, she is sponged down regularly but only use shampoo etc one or twice a year to preserve oils in her coat. Not sure it was my best decision as took ages and she didn’t seem to look much better but kept me occupied for a bit!Long chat with my bf.
Evening trip into cathedral city, every last Friday in the month they have street food and live music on the market square and we had heard good things. It was absolutely rammed with lots of families and all the stalls were doing a great trade, we opted for a falafel, hummus and halloumi wrap which was very tasty along with an ice tea. The band was doing folk music so sat and ate whilst listening to them, will definitely go again.
Must include the below, a very sad looking cactus that has been on the verge of going to the great desert in the sky for quite a while has suddenly decided to flower so it’s on a reprieve!6 -
