Pleasures for today
Longest day did turn into the longest work day ever due to strikes, pleasure is that all done today and I’m on nights tomorrow so shouldn’t be as bad.
Sat and watched Sherwood.
Chat with ds2, who seems a bit down again, pleasure is that he talked a bit.
Enjoyed food that I took into work and saved money.
Good neighbours10 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Picked 2 more containers of raspberries off the allotment and made a start on the redcurrants.
3) The cat improved throughout the day and has left the house/garden and gone for a walk! He was much less clingy today, so happy to lie on the sofa or the slabs outside, rather than on someone's knee all day.
4) BSD going OK.
5) Went with my brother as he had a bat survey locally so he did that and I went for a walk.9 -
1. Painkillers working. I do feel as if I'm floating though.
2. Saw some lovely patients today. One gave me a box of chocolates which was very much appreciated.
3. A late finish to day but late enough that I can claim the time back.
4. I planted out some pak choi in the garden.
5. A drink with DH in the garden.9 -
For yesterday,
Doing a bit of dusting and managed to smack my head on the corner of a shelf, definitely not a pleasure but yet another indication that housework is bad for your health 🤣
Off to see pony, did some schooling and she was good girl for her Mum, sponged her down afterwards and hand grazed her in the shade while she dried off.
Our hedge is in blossom and full of pollinators.
Picked a small posy for my midsummer decoration, sweet peas and lavender.
Prawn stir fry for tea, followed by cheese & grapes.

This board. Upholds me no matter what hour of day, in joy & in panic.I am rediscovering my love of scrambled egg. Very nearly idiot proof.Sons being very tolerant of my fretting “have you tried on?”, “Polished boots?” - it’s a not a scout parade. It means even more than that. [After, there’s a pair of suit trousers which is “a bit tight”...]I ordered a length of ribbon off eBay but it hasn’t arrived, so I had a panic on Amazon & will have A Lot of ribbon arrive by 10 tonight! My sons stroking me back calm, think I’m daft-as-brush but it’s the last joke between Himself & I. [Arrived, washed, ironed, ready for the last journey.]Listing things to do & sequencing, I do wish I’d washed my hair on Saturday so it was reliably dry (I don’t 'do' heat!) - aye well, it’s clean & will be tidy. [Dry too, in time.]Briefing notes include appropriate responses to “he’s in heaven now” etc - “accept such as they are intended, a comfort, thank the giver and steer the conversation onto memories” - we’re not very practiced at this, so a script by may help. Just thinking Himself would laugh a lot & not immediately abide by the courtesies. [I managed not to fall off the chair when I was asked if we could stay in the family home. Yes. I’ve worked to pay the mortgage these last decades, I am not stopping.]There’s a o gods o’clock ethical quandary - do you take your mobile? On silent of course, but at all? Lucky blighter chaps have pockets. My black frock does not. (Middleson driving - I’ll leave card & keys to him, may ask Youngest to carry my mobile.]
Blissfully calm & serene, full of light & love. Phones locked in car. Extra orders of service rounded up & handed to me before we left the crematorium (seems sending them onto relatives who couldn’t make it _Is_ a thing.) Himself in a frankly whopping coffin, the bunch of rosemary (tied with that ribbon) from our garden looked tiny but right. We said our farewells & now have to learn to live without him, but the godfathers share both our stunned loss and want to stay in touch - to see more of both will be a gift beyond words, and will ease my mind about the lads. There were less than a dozen people present, but it was absolutely packed with out with love & support. Thank you.Amongst things at the wake, two home made fruit loaves. [Which the lads have already tested, and found right up to standard!] So many photos, many clearly labelled (!), others dated & immediately identified by context. The pain is there won’t be more, but the pleasure is there are so many now.Health, strength love & courage to all as have need & protective headgear for the weather!15 -

DfV - your strength is astounding. More love and hugs.
Another glorious day. To Asda to top up essential supplies then to the outlet stores to return a dress and look for bargains. Found a skirt in my size for £12 in M+S so that was lucky. Couldn't stay long as the ice cream was in the very hot car( in a cool bag) so DH had to cut short his deliberations about shorts and leave them behind for today!
Yellow-fish fish cakes for tea. New recipe to try. Looks good and easy enough to cook in hot weather. Pitta bread, mayo and salad to accompany.
Still some ironing to do plus trying to rescue D D's very beautiful crepe dress that she washed in the washer!! Obviously I've taught her nothing. Except, perhaps, where to go when things go wrong!
Happy another 🌞🌞day everyone

Hope you're doing OK, DfV.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Vaguely tidied up.
3) Cat considerably better today. Abscess hole has shrunk to the size of a 5p.
4) Went out for a cup of tea and to try and find some light cotton trousers. Who knew that would prove impossible!
5) Made 6 meals worth of tomato sauce and had one batch for tea, with meatballs.
6) Cleaned up all the plates and bowls which have migrated into the garden when used for leftovers for the cats. All boiled, scrubbed and washed.
7) Bought some posh house magazines so have been reading them.
8) Had an email from County. The deadline for finding smaller son a college place was April. Last thing I heard, they had decided to ask mainstream colleges if they could take him. All my emails and phone calls asking for updates had been ignored... until yesterday's, when I CCd in my MP...
Email today says no mainstream college in the county will take him. A strange thing to celebrate that your son is too disabled to go to any college but I was chuffed (!) as it means we can progress with trying to get him into the one (and only) that might be suitable. Hoorah! Of course, County then has to go to a panel to discuss whether they will fund it. Interestingly, they have never met me or smaller son.
9) Looking forward to the Great British Sewing Bee.9 -
Hello! Bedtime. I could have slept on this morning but doggy decided 5.45am was late enough so it was time to get up.Caught up on Sherwood.Round to mums about 10am, Took doggy. First time he’s been there in a very long time because He does not like cats, ate a catnip mouse…which I’d to wait another four days to see again! And generally too much stuff! So round we went. Holy moly! Sensory overload for a doggy used to a calm environment! Too much smells, and sounds ( over the back were getting building work done) too much to see, nesting starlings dive-bombing him! Thorny bushes! Waaaaah ( that was more me than him I think though!)
My aunt ( mums sister) came through to help. We had a good chatter about lots of things as we always do. We leap and jump from conversation to conversation. Had bought salad rolls at roll shop so ate them, she’d two cups of tea and then we cleared the unit in dining room. Update on declutter thread.Went back to mine about 5pm and I made cheese omelette for tea with new potatoes and carrots and cauliflower and peas. And very nice it was too.Back round to mums for aunt to get car and off she went.So a bit of a full on day. I’m feeling a tad overwhelmed about the amount of stuff in my house at the moment, there’s stuff I need to keep/ want to keep. But I just feel surrounded by little piles! I want to just spend a day gardening and not have to think of anything else. But I need to keep chipping away at mums as it has to be done. So better to get it done. Anyway…!Tomorrow is of course another day!10
