Recognised a van on rural path and was able to ask B about outdoor tap leak. He installed it many years ago and will sort it today.
1. For dfv and every osper here - this is &'s first Matariki, new official public holiday in Aotearoa:

2. Sudden drenching downpour at the river while feeding many greedy swans and some ducks. Felt fresh and blue sky returned.
3. Good midweek service again yesterday, with our centenarian still in great form. Asked him about my 'volunteer' potatoes, a term new to &. They're flowering now and taller than &!

4. Later picked up and sorted big church donation of toys and crockery. Will take some to Red Hen Project, retain some for our Ukrainian guests' children.
5. Mileage display restored. Suddenly stopped 3 days ago, but re-started after an unlikely answer on the always helpful Vauxhall owners' forum - a good thump! Used a hefty retro RD Crafts and Hobbies volume!😁

Afternoon all
PK, a rose for BournevilleHugs.
DfK, a simple, tiny, hand-tied bunch of rosemary from the garden sounds perfectMore virtual hugs coming your way.
Mhags, flowers in jam jarsThere's something very old-style about that. I don't own any vases so any flowers I pick get erm-'arranged' in jam jars.
Five recent pleasures:
1. Emerging out the other side of several days of being poorly - I've slept so much each day that my night time sleeping is all over the place but I woke this morning feeling a lot better.
2. Dealing with a super, new-to-me GP. So kind and caring.
3. My potatoes were not volunteer (thanks for the term &!) but unused left-overs in a paper bag from a veggie box order. I planted them using some small potato bag things that I'd been given. The plants are now huge (given the size of the containers) and thriving amazingly well despite total neglect from me. I will definitely get some freebie meals out of them.
4. Continuing to list my library of books on the spreadsheet. I'm enjoying the reminders of what I've read and the desire to re-read.
5. Have made it through a pretty frugal month ok. H/m soup for lunch and miscellaneous risotto for supper will mean I can use up all the leftover veg ready for a shop tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of your Fridays

For yesterday
We visited the in laws, but I am afraid we neither of us was really on form as we are feeling loss, but we all enjoyed company.
For today
1 Yesterday made me realise we need a proper holiday, so I’ve sent some dates off for availability.
2 Spent an easy day, placed an online order for bird food and had a voucher that covered their flat rate delivery.
3 Found an independent nursery, literally a couple whose garden is open when they are home, so made an appointment to visit.
4 Cleaned out the fridge, grated up cheese, portioned chicken and cooked up mince that wouldn’t last otherwise, made portions for tonight is Chilli x 2, lasagne x 2 for freezer and leftover will be spag bol portions.
5 Washing loads on the line and just watered the front and back garden and swore at the slugs, time to get some nematoads.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Went into town after lunch for the charity shops and managed to get a jumper and 2 pairs of trousers. Necessary as my existing trousers are all turned over at the waist as they are too big now.
3) House reasonably tidy.
4) My pension forecast letter arrived. For the elections work I do every few years, I am going to get an annual pension of £12.37!
5) On the subject of elections, good news on the TV today.
6) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.8 -
Good morning. And more sun.😎
We spotted an armchair we liked. Ex display so half price. Inspected carefully and seemed perfect so bought it. We were previously dithering about a similar one online but it had a 5 months delivery, and was full price, of course. Man with a van brought ours the same afternoon!
DGC came for tea yesterday so that was a treat! Youngest DGD, nearly 2, enjoys rearranging the gravel in the path, putting it in a toy saucepan and tipping it out again. Between that and a chocolate bar she went home somewhat grubby. But happy!
The garden is looking wonderful. I bought a Sweet William yesterday and for now it's in a big pot. One of my favourite flowers - though tbh I can't think of many flowers I don't like!
Gave up on Sherwood though I like most of the actors in it.. Too many miserable people ! Will have to think again.
Happy 🌞🌞day everyone

Pleasures for yesterday
Was at work but good company on shift at same time. Who you work with makes or breaks the day.
Cake Friday. One office-based colleague is the Cake Fairy, bringing in muffins, flapjacks, shortbread and cream filled sponge cake every Friday to boost morale. It works.
Out into cooler, fresher air at the end of the shift, knowing I have the weekend off.
Ecstatic welcome from dog, Apparently she had been skulking under my bed all afternoon because of a thunderstorm, and had only surfaced because she had heard me arrive home.
Chicken Massaman cooked by my son and eaten with a cold lager shandy whilst watching old episodes of Coach Trip.
One life - your life - live it!8 -

Hot tub finally set up and enjoyed several times.
Lots of cherries and strawberries 🍓 eaten, sadly from the supermarket not home grown
First 2 runner beans have appeared on my plants, 🤞lots more to come
Pots of fuschias, poppies, lilies etc looking beautiful
Lovely gas engineer/plumber, who serviced my boiler and gas fire, fixed my wobbly impossible to fix toilet seat 😊
Have a great weekend everyone 😘
