Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Booked septic tank in for an empty.
3) Went round the charity shops but didn't buy anything.
4) Lots of cooking. Made pizzas for lunch from pitta breads. Roast chicken for tomorrow and a chicken and veg traybake for tea. Also made a batch of celery soup.
5) Went to the football playoffs! Immediately one of our best players was headbutted in the face. His nose bled on and off (all taped across the bridge as well) all the way through the game. Our goalkeeper was then headbutted in the face, but his nose didn't bleed for very long. A scrappy game and we lost 2-1.
We were in the stands but had such obnoxious people in front of us that we sneaked out at half time and found some seats. Good job we did as someone in the stands then set off a firework (not a flare, an actual firework).
6) In bed now, thawing out.11 -
For yesterday,
A better day weather wise, nice to see some sun.
Spent the morning with my pony, she worked well in the school and deserved a treat or two.

Out to see elderly pal, lots of chat over pots of tea then her husband came home after playing seven holes of golf, a spring chicken at just 94! Advert for the notion that keeping busy is the key to a long life.
Stuffed chicken thighs for tea with roasted squash that I found in the bottom of the freezer.12 -

Pleasures for Wednesday
1. A good trip to wales - only one train from Birmingham, unheard of! It can be as many as three!
2. Eating a twirl - i love a twirl and rarely have it at all, let alone a whole one.
3. a circuit by the sea.
4. sea bass with veggies for tea
5. Watched Tuesday's eurovision semi-final. I'm a sucker for Eurovision
ANd yesterday
1. slept well and caught up my marking chores (i'm completely caught up - just waiting for late hand ins now)
2. got hold of the sparky to sort out the bedroom switch so that i can demolish a partition, whose only role is holding a light switch - go figure!
3. another circuit by the sea
4. dropped a bag into the chazzer
5. see 4 and 5 from yesterday (except i watched the other semi-final).
6. A rare thursday g and t - cos i'm worth it.
Have a great afternoon all.
I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
Hello all
PK, that's a pity about the Scottish NT thing - I suppose they were bound to catch on eventually.
Five recent pleasures:
1. I've been investigating the few seed packets I have left over from my old allotment. I'd given lots away but saved the ones I might still be able to grow in the garden/yard this year. I've also got several bags of compost that have been stacked outside for a couple of years. I found a handful of potatoes that hadn't been eaten and were accidentally left in a brown paper bag chitting beautifully (spellcheck wanted to change that to chatting - made me smile). I've now planted them out in pots (adjacent to each other so their conversation can continue). I don't think it'll matter that they're late since I only want tiny spuds. I have two unused grow bags so will use those for tomatoes, and another sack of compost which will fill several more pots for the carrot, rocket and herb seeds I still have. On the kitchen windowsill, I've got sprouted chick peas on the go again - which I love - and alfafa sprouts as well. I feel so much happier at the thought of growing some food again, even though it will be small amounts.
2. Neighbours returned something I'd lent them with a lovely thank you card.
3. Signed up to the Big Plastic Count next week.
4. Sewing Bee.
5. Just started a new audiobook from the library, enjoying it so far.
Have a lovely rest of day

Visions of your spuds having a blether broomstick 😆🥔🥔🥔
Although I wish I could say my working week is done. It just isn’t. The gift that keeps on giving! To be continued…Lovely doggy walk first thing, just us and the birds. How we like it.Work. The pleasure I suppose is another day done and that I just normally work 2 days.Voice. Deep and croaky today. One colleague laughed she hadn’t heard it. Then another came in later and when I spoke to her she was like woah! Two phone calls made and both times they said I hope you feel better soon. Which was nice.Tips. Meh. But more than I had and in the jam jar.Nipped home for half an hour mid morning and we just sat and had a cuddle ( and I had weetabix)
Not sure what’s for tea. Not feeling 100% so see what I can rustle up.12 -
aw frith rotten. ko for us 44 mins and counting! for today
1) day on city campus - nice walk in with DD2
2) they had two boxes of sweet highland cow pyjama cases (remember those?!) with UoD on front in the office - was tempted but behaved myself and didn't snitch one. clearly for international visits
3) REF away day 10 - 4 - great fun and lovely lunch
4) then we went for a drink to celebrate the good bits (always a mixed bag)
5) then walked the boys to mum's, didn't notice the time so run back, chilli and rice (already cooked) for tea and now i'm off to watch the game with DrM

DD - it was grim. Our goalie has tweeted today that he did break his nose and had it straightened and stitches put in his eyebrow in A and E overnight. He played for 80 minutes like that! No news from our defender (another nose) but Boston's man who was taken off.. well, I won't talk about it but it involved his teeth...
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My garden and 2 adjoining are coming along nicely. Uphill have worked very hard (house almost derelict when they bought it) and are clearing and putting pots around the place. Downhill (house OK but garden abandoned for 10 years when they bought it last year) is having a massive clear and decking installed.
3) Got various jobs done a.m and FINALLY managed to get an answer from smaller son's college about his GCSE arrangements (4 emails, a phone call and asking in person at the office, just to get this done).
4) My brother popped in briefly for a cup of tea.
5) I went out during the afternoon and had a cup of tea somewhere new. The gardens were £9 to get in (so I didn't bother) but I did have a cup of tea in their tithe barn. Also went round some charity shops but didn't find anything. I haven't really for a while. Sainsburys had pretty much everything I wanted with bonus YS.
6) Smaller son made his linguine recipe for his tea and I had l.o chicken bake. BSD continues.
7) Looking forward to HIGNFY etc later this evening.10 -
Good morning - sunny again. Loving this!
Normal service is almost resumed here.
Had to collect DH prescription from next village chemist ( or pharmacy, as they are now called! ). That meant we were about quarter of a mile from favourite garden centre so had to go! The rhododendrons in their show garden are just opening and they are magnificent. Can you imagine what they look like growing wild!
Got some lovely soft fruit from the greengrocer there. Love raspberries!.
Planted up some bedding plants bought over a week ago. Did the manger and wall pots. Sorted out the winter hanging baskets and two pots. Beginning to look a bit better out there.
Sorted out summer tops into fit to take on holiday or not. The 'not' pile was the bigger one! Think some shopping for t-shirts is called for. Not today though.
Happy 🌞day everyone

For yesterday,
Changed the bed and everything, inc mattress & pillow protectors, washed and dried on the line, was a windy day.
Over to see pony, she is desperate for fresh grass and I’m hoping that she will be moved to her summer paddock this weekend, the liveries seem to be the last to be changed over this year. Anyways, I gave her a good groom then grazed her in-hand for a while.
Tasty lunch, olive bread with pesto and sun dried tomatoes.
Bit of a lazy afternoon, reading my book.
Tea was snorkers with parmentier pots, followed by ice-cream.
