Good morning. And it's sunny again!
PK - cake looks great. Birthday cakes are all calorie-free. It's the law!
DH still whammy ( medical term) yesterday so did LFT. Positive!! No real symptoms apart from a high temp which made him feel fluey. He spent all day in bed, most of it asleep.
Still in bed now but temp more settled and he seems better in himself.
So, today. No yoga for me. I'm fine but it's not fair to risk spreading it around.
Will walk up to the village for more paracetamol though. Can wear a mask in the chemist and they're behind a screen anyway.
Think I will do some gardening later. If DH feels well enough he can sit outside and supervise. No doubt will! He'd make a good foreman!
Happy 🌞 day everyone12 -
For yesterday,
Usual Sunday morning routine of bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Out into the garden, Capt S cut the grass ( another no mow May failure here & ) while I planted out salad leaves, cut back Forsythia and Montana, washed & refilled bird feeders. Our resident raptor had obviously caught a small bird as pile of grey feathers under apple tree ☹️Warm sunshine and all windows open in house.
Enjoyed highlights of cc then showjumping final from Badminton HT although hand over eyes at times over size of some of the cc fences!
Cheese & biccies for late tea after a big lunch, few games of Yahtzee and watched the bats flying around the house.14 -

Hello again all.
More than a week – where did that go?
PK – have you looked into getting Scottish NT membership which used to be a bit cheaper than the English one but still allowed access to England properties?
Some recent pleasures:
1. Got my dressmaking scissors sharpened in the ironmongers. Scissors are now fantastic - better than new.
2. Big cook of vegan mince bol. sauce which has done the last three lots of main meals (with pasta) and will do the next three. It's boring but means I don’t have to think! Also, I’m on the verge of emptying my freezer ready for my experiment of doing without this summer.
3. And linked to this, am currently boiling up a pan of end-of-frozen-veg and other veg which will do a few soup lunches as well. Smells lovely.
4. Cleared my work table ready for the next onslaught of paperwork. Not really a pleasure but definitely helps to remove the blocks in the way.
5. Enjoyed the Radio 4 programme celebrating the Just William centenary.
Have a lovely evening

Hello. Day one of work done ( sigh…normally I’d be saying all done! )
Anyway was a dry start to the day when we went a quick walk. It was dry when I got to work and then somewhere in between leaving it started raining and never stopped! Absolutely lashing down.Excellent tips and good company. And somewhere between starting and finishing I lost my voice! Had to phone vet to make an appointment and try and get my mother to understand me…why are you talking like that? Well I can hardly help it!And the DD2 called and said could I pick up a prescription in town for her ( she’s a poorly person) so had to go all the way in to town in the lashing rain. However the pleasure is traffic in way back was less busy than anticipated for that time of day.Had some rice, sprouts and veggie sausages for tea.13 -
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Paperwork done! Got 4 quotes to get the septic tank emptied, took half an hour to sort Curry's into honouring their warranties for kitchen things, couldn't get through to college hairdressers so will have to find somewhere else AND found smaller son's NI number.
2) Luckily smaller son's college managed to find a copy of the undownloadable report. I didn't get a firm answer about his GCSE setup (own room, extra time, rest breaks etc) so will ask in person tomorrow when I pick him up. GCSEs start next week.
3) Did a week of meal planning, had a pot of tea in M and S to fortify myself then went to Sainsbury's.
4) Booked tickets for the football playoff match on Thursday. They're nearly sold out now
5) Weighed myself and have lost a stone so far.
6) I had Jamie's veg chilli from the freezer for tea but I fried some chicken, bacon, onion and sage up in a massive puff pastry pasty for smaller son.
7) In unlikely news, we did half a biology paper together.
8) I am now writing from Castlemorton Common where I've been walking and found a geocache. Just waiting for my brother to finish his bat survey. When I was at sixth form, less than 10 miles from here, the thing I wanted to do most in the world was come here to look at the rave. All quiet tonight.13 -
1. Sunny day.
2. A couple of laughs with patients today.
3. Chat with DS1 about a job he is considering applying for.
4. Drink in the garden with DH.
5. Chat with neighbour.11 -
🤞that the college get things sorted for next week Frith.
For yesterday,
Normal Monday shop, nice & quiet plus picked up some bargains inc a nice piece of salmon.
Over to see pony, she was doing the whole ‘ let’s lay down in the field motionless and give my human a heart attack’ thing! All was well.
Needed to do housework catch up after a week of preferring to be in the garden, pleasure is all done now.
Transferred survey earnings into savings account.
Salmon for tea, topped with a Dijon sauce and served with stuffed mushies, yum.12 -
Good morning. Still sunny.
Walked to village yesterday to get paracetamol but was absolutely exhausted when I got back. Gradually felt worse as the day wore on so did an LFT. Yup. Positive. So that's both of us lying about feeling sorry for ourselves!
We were supposed to be going to the Cotswolds on Thursday to join my cousins who are over from Canada. Sadly had to cancel that 😥
So another day of isolation ahead!
Happy Tuesday everyone ( not too happy here!)11 -
