Afternoon all
Keep on getting better poorly people. I'm feeling a bit better and have tested negative for covid again so it must just be a boring cold-ish flu-ish thing.
Five recent pleasures:
1. Line-dried washing.
2. A ginormous frozen blueberry on my porridge this morning. It was the size of a marble. It looked so silly alongside all the little ones around it. Tasted lovely too.
3. University Challenge final.
4. Starting an anti-procrastination drive for some admin I need to do. Very pleased with yesterday's progress.
5. The news of Darwin's notebooks being returned in a pink carrier bag. So lovely to hear a positive story alongside everything else going on in the world.
Have a lovely rest of Tuesday,
B x

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) My coronavirus pretty much gone. Smaller son still coughing and sniffing and has tested positive again today.
3) Hens OK.
4) Did a tiny bit of gardening.
5) My new (refurbished) phone has arrived.
6) Bigger son popped back for a while, partly so he could sort his phone out! (It is in my name).
7) Smaller son and I listened to the football on the radio, as we couldn't go and infect everyone.
8) Missed Holby City but watched a few episodes of The Split instead. Their lives would be easier if they all stopped lying all the time!10 -
Hoping Ampersand is ok..
For yesterday,
Made a loaf, spelt with added pumpkin seeds, yum.
One friend drove to mine, I took us on to another friend who lives the other side of Uni City, we then walked to a cafe in her village, admiring all the blossoms as we went.
An oh so tasty lunch with my pals, we nattered away for a couple of hours and put the world to rights.
Home, quick change and off to see pony, she was filthy so much pampering needed!
Watched CGBBO and then a recorded programme, final one in a series about the Normans.11 -
Dear peeps all, with thanks for concern Lainey and Mhags ❤❤.
#
I see I'll have over 10 pages to catch up when I can, but that isn't right now.
Was just now able to truthfully answer dear Mhags that I was about to check in, having 2hrs before dashing out again and another mtg ce soir.
Seem to be very busy all the time now. Many outs, volunteering demands increasing and rugby season has only 2 matches to run.
Will pop a few things down.
#
1. Tiny, but back again, this little one has reappeared through more new asphalt, as it did last year.
2. Fractured tooth episode, wonderfully sorted by N at our caring NHS surgery on Monday. Piece extracted. Rtn next month, praying no hospital jaw hacking and blah necessary. Big referral stuff, says N....so🤞
.
3. In Raffle Harridan mode for home matches, as well as writing/subbing/editing Preview, & is in full flow. Made a wonderful near £1k - aka 'bullied it from all present, mercilessly' - on Raffle last week and this week's final home match £s will go entirely to Ukraine-focused 🇺🇦
urgent relief. Steering committee mtg tonight for accurate fine tuning as we have first loaded vehicle ready to head to Poland/Ukraine border. Luckily, our membership includes relevant expertise/contacts/languages etc. Everyone wants to help constructively and fast. It is happening.
3. The solid fellowship of Church, faith and spiritual refuelling, especially during current times, personal, national, global. DG, & is a survivor.🙏
4. Hopefully an end to asb fallout, after a long yesterday at new Shire Hall, 40+ miles away.😖
Good help from C and J. Again, 🤞.
Was just about to leave when call came, re: urgent ambient Asda pick-up for Food Hub, so did that 45miles later🙂 - 18 boxes of frozen food saved from landfill, apart from feeding needy peeps.
5. Unexpected lovely gifts and ems for 27 March. A special afternoon service too.

Blessings to all.
Many small-scale things to celebrate, despite..... :
- Our Women’s 1st XV did the double last Saturday, promotion and League Champions. Chaps are already promoted, with League title in grasp on Saturday. Amazing away match and funbus to Sudbury a fortnight ago. We out-supported and outplayed them, our nearest rivals. They were shellshocked.
- Healthy bodies/healthy minds: healthy minds in healthy bodies. All in our community outreach from Praise and Play in church, to our babes+toddlers' didi rugby at Club.
- Old NZ schoolfriend's premmie grandsons continue to cope, getting there slowly but surely. Miracle babies still.
- &'s Meriva keeps on rollin' along, if on 3 advisory tyres, but Fenboys are having trouble locating replacements. & is nursing current ones.😇
- & remains stubbornly in good health.😁
- Friendships ongoing with yurp via WhatsApp, even tho' still unable to be there in person.
- Usefulness, without ties. Brain still working nicely💪.
- radio and no TV 👏
- knowing how to budget and live well, despite all currently.
- school place Appeal submitted via & for one tutee has succeeded.👏👏👏. Family overjoyed.
- more crochet squares done for bi-i-i-i-g throw. Will be another Ukraine fundraiser at Club

1. a walk by the sea
2. a chance meeting with friends so an opportunity to chat.
3. more stripping - made a good job of it if i say so myself
4. salmon and veg for tea
5. an evening of telly and gin.
And today
1. another walk by the sea - had to run the gauntlet of it splashing onto the prom.. I won.
2. another 8 hours of sleep
3. the plasterer came and is going to 'give it a go, if it sticks, it sticks..' (the cottage is over 100 years old and with rather bizarre alterations)
4. finished the stripping - finally. listened to lots of desert island discs.
5. looking forward to steak for tea (with wine).
have a great evening all.I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Torrential rain on and off (and right now) but managed to avoid it.
3) Bit more energy today so tidied up and cleaned the bathroom and demoulded the ceilings upstairs.
4) Buoyed up by rejigging bigger son's phone contract yesterday (saving about £25 per month), I read Martin's Cost of Living new guide. Spent an afternoon online chatting to BT and have swapped from my £30 deal to the £15 deal for paupers. I can't go with a different company as no other offers any services due to our rural exchange. Anyway, £15 is excellent.
5) Have been trying to work out how to use my new (to me) phone and signed up for a virtual tour of the Crown Court. Smaller son has been desperate to sit in on a court case for years. Last time we tried (pre pandemic) we took bigger son who got all panicky about people being taken away to prison and we had to leave. Until we get round to going in person, we can watch this Zoom tour.
Then found a Zoom talk about bats, which I signed up for and passed the link on to the chap who runs our Wildlife Club in the village hall.
6) Better again today. Smaller son is 2 days behind me so coughing every 10 seconds. Now my brother is also positive, along with my sister and niece.
7) Did some online shopping and some arrived. I bought a geocache as smaller son and I want to set one up near the football. Also sent off for Easter crafts things for niece - and some ant killer as they are in the kitchen wall!!10 -
well done ampers on the landfill save
Good to hear your recovering albeit slowly frith
AWOL yesterday due to stinky day at work, another stinky day so let's think of 5 good things
1) football - where would i be without work switch-off at mennies with Dr M and Mr G?
2) looking at my lovely spaniels - Jarvis has one of his front paws over the other, it is very sweet
3) using the last of the lamb chops chopped into carrot and ginger soup with a spoon full of curry powder - yummy
4) meeting friends for lunch - was so tempted to say due to work i couldn't do it - so glad i did - proper food admiral!
5) Dr M checking with me when would be best for his birthday celebration. i need to go to Malta the weekend after (as external examiner) and apparently that's important to know
oh and a sneeky extra for vjsmum - had a wonderful meeting with a phd student this morning, she had got majorly stuck but with gentle coaxing and encouragement she is writing fabulous stuff - i have memories of your phd journey (and of course more distantly mine)
So not a bad couple of days after all.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

For yesterday,
Baby rabbits playing in the garden, not so great when nibbling young shoots but cute all the same.
Cauliflower and kale soup for lunch.
Farrier used the last of his diesel to get to yard and trim girlie’s feet, luckily he lives next village on!
Two goldfinches clinging to Niger seed feeder as it swung wildly in the wind.
All about the food today, tasty tea of haddock baked on bed of tomatoey cannellini beans
and spinach.
