Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Did lots of cooking. 6 portions of veg and lentil soup for tomorrow and the freezer. Used some puff pastry with jam then thinly sliced apples on (like a cheating tarte tatin). Also made mini pizzas on some left over pittas.
4) Watched Casualty.
5) Watching Take That on BBC2, though I was no particular fan in the 90s.
Interestingly, my illness (few days of being out of breath then sore throat, headache and achey legs) has passed to smaller son, who usually has 2 modes - peak physical fitness or in resus. Luckily he is between those 2 states! I messaged my sister and she has EXACTLY THE SAME... and tested positive yesterday and today... Smaller son's test was negative yesterday but there is never a 30 minute window when he hasn't eaten anything. He will test again in the morning.
Update - smaller son and I have coronavirus. I'm slightly mithered that mine didn't follow the classic combination of symptoms so I didn't isolate earlier. I've hardly spread it around but I did stand out looking at the stars with my brother on Thursday night :-/11 -
Poo to the diagnosis Frith 🙁
For yesterday,
Bit of a lie-in followed by a lazy breakfast.
Morning of pottering around, made a loaf, ordered some supplements and did my m/e, q/e tally up, on and off snow showers kept us out of the garden.
Listened to the footie, the U’s won away at Portman Road so a bit of a local’ish derby.
Afternoon walk with small dog and beloved, the biting wind had dropped so nice in the sunshine and tennis balls were thrown. There is always one point towards the end of the walk when small dog refuses to give her ball back and walks with it in her mouth, it then has to be dried out in the boiler cupboard!
A Yahtzee session then we too watched Take That.

Good morning. Frosty again
Over last couple of days.....
DH went to dentist so I made my first appointment since pre lockdown. They contacted DH and DS but not me! Anyway, I'm in now - but not until July!
Went to butcher and greengrocer. They are from the market but have set up in the garden centre. Great for us. Nearer, easier to park and we always have a coffee too ( so great for garden centre too, I guess)
Went to see DDiL and DGC for the first time in ages, mainly because they've all had covid but not simultaneously which has made isolation last about 4 weeks. It was great to see them again. Then their other grandad popped in so we had a catch up with him.
Chicken skewers and stir fry for tea. Added some sun dried tomatoes, chopped small, that were too hard to chew. It was all lovely
Croissants for brekky today
Happy Sunday everyone11 -
Frith - hope you feel ok now and smaller son doesn't become worse and isolation not too bad.
1. Met a friend and had a lovely catch up. A walk round a free garden too. She has finally left work about 10 months after being made redundant.
2. Some time weeding in the garden in sunshine.
3. Chat with a neighbour. He now has no frog spawn in his pond since the ducks have returned.
4. Went to a local pub for an excellent meal.
5. Flowers still looking good.12 -
Day number one of workety work done ( I swear I said that a week ago but just feels like a couple of days! )
Absolutely stunning sunrise. All crimson and peachy colours. Quick frosty walk with a doggy.Work was okay. Got lots of prep done for tomorrow which makes a difference.Excellent tips!Home and sold a mirror. Tips and mirror money in the jam jar. Will pop down to bank at some point.Chat to cousin and aunt, had chicken and rice whilst I chatted…multi-tasking!Quick chat to friend on phone.Almost bedtime and alarm set for silly o’clock. Sigh!13 -
1 DH has been very suddenly very ill since Friday, fever and sickness, the pleasure being he’s now able to eat a little so have been able to get diabetic meds and painkillers in to hopefully ease a bit. Reading on the diabetic website of how to control it when the person is unable to keep meds in was useless.
2 Fed the birds.
3 Splitting sausages into small meals today.
4 Sugar soaped some bits of dirt on the walls that caught my eye when I was painting the floorboards, stopped to see what it’s like in daylight just incase I’m creating a wacking dirty line across the wall 😊
5 Watched a few good films.

Sorry to hear about your DH, PK. Hopefully he is on the mend now.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Felt better today and smaller son improving also. You don't notice how rough you feel until you get better! Texted the driver who takes him to college to say he won't be able to go Monday or Tuesday. I've just un-set the alarm for tomorrow, hoorah!
3) Hens OK.
4) Pottered around (now we can't go out). Had some of yesterday's soup for lunch, Smaller son had tuna and cheese on toast. His appetite has been affected, mine hasn't. Made broccoli cheese for tea with pasta and bacon bits, then flapjacks with apricots.
5) Enjoyed the Stanley Tucci episode about Italy.
6) Phoned my school friend.
7) Catching up on episodes of Gardeners World.12 -
Sending GWS wishes for your DH PK
For yesterday,
Up early and watched the cricket for a bit but obvious we couldn’t chase that kind of lead so gave and read my book.
Normal Sunday morning routine, bacon butties and catching up on all things Ambridge.
Over to see pony, got her out and about for a leg stretch.
Home, my beloved had been busy in the garden so both hungry, big Sunday lunch and snoozing on the sofa.
Stirred our stumps to get small dog out, wind had dropped so a nice evening. Small sliver of a new moon in the sky.10 -
Good morning. And a very wet one it is too.
Frith - glad you are both improving gradually. Lots of rest needed I think
OK - I hope DH soon feels better. It is such a worry when you're not sure if you're doing the right thing.
Yesterday DDiL went to our caravan with the 3 DGC ( DS isn't joining them until Tuesday) and the boiler isn't working! Fortunately it's much warmer than lately so she said they were fine. Managed to arrange for plumber to go out today and meanwhile they're using the electric fire. Between plumber and electricity bill I think I might have to go back to work!
DH and I sorted out the shed yesterday - ruthlessly! I like it when we do things together. Hasn't happened often enough lately. Then I dug up a shrub that's in the wrong place and always gets covered in blackfly. DH is still forbidden to do strenuous jobs but he cut it small enough to go in the wheelie bin. So a good day.
Well earned sausages and bubble and squeak after that lot.Still watching Ipcress File though I've very little idea what's happening and why.
Happy ☔ day everyone

Hope the poorlies are feeling better 😊
I’ve not been feeling great as rotten cold keeps reappearing ☹️
Therefore not been doing much so not too many pleasures.
Tree men finally cut down the rest of the huge tree at the end of my garden that had been bothering the 2 neighbours at that end. They also got rid of 2 dead trees and topped the remaining 4 large leylandi so it all looks much better though cost a fair bit. Strange neighbours on the left complained about the sawdust!🤣
SIL and her man friend finally made it to dinner on Saturday and we had ex’s homegrown beef and I made chocolate and cherry 🍒 roulade, all delicious and left over roast beef yesterday.
Lovely sunset last night.
Dull and damp this morning but have a good Monday everyone 😊9
