Good morning
Back at the seaside. Beautiful day yesterday but today not looking too clever so far. But it's not raining so that's ok.
Still reading a poem a day from my, Christmas present to me, anthology. Rediscovered a love of Robert Frost and discovered a love of Edward Thomas. I'm noting favourites in my journal and these two keep popping up.
Brought my mother's day flowers from DD with me. They look lovely in the caravan. Lots of less usual bouquet flowers like stocks and anemones. Very pretty.
Dolphins are spotted regularly from the cliffs here but we always seem to come on the wrong day. Or perhaps other people are more patient! Will have a cliff walk today and see what we can see. The puffins are back too so will look out for them.
Happy Mother's Day everyone

PK and Frith - it is sad losing pets as they become part of the family.
1. Unexpected busy from DS1 and his girlfriend. It aS a flying visit as they only wanted to pick wild garlic. They also took some eggs with them.
2. The ducks have returned to our garden. The first time since last summer. I am pleased they have come back.
3. I also tidied my front garden which desperately needed doing. It does look much better now.
4. DH fixed a step in the back garden - it is no longer wobbly. Only taken about 3 years.
5. Daffodils look good.11 -
Sorry about the pets ☹️
Not many pleasures as I’ve been hit by virus and hay fever (not Covid according to daily LFT).
Did have a lovely lunch out with 2 oldest friends on Wednesday, sitting outside in the sunshine ☀️ (no trees 🌲 nearby).
Thursday I felt yuk and did try sitting in the garden but my eyes were so sore I couldn’t see a thing.
I’ve been resting indoors, reading when I can and watching too much tv and going to bed very early. Getting some sleep thanks to taking some Night Nurse I had in the cupboard.
Dishwasher wouldn’t work last night but seems to be working this morning 🤞
Happy Mothering Sunday to all you mums. I shall wait with baited breath to see if my son appears with a card or just his dirty washing 🤣11 -

2. A ride on the steam train up the line - came back with friends in 1st class, was good to catch up with them.
3. a walk up the hill. We thought it was too good to be true as the climb up was easy - it was, the path petered out and we didn't get where planned. Although it did enable us to meet friends on train ride back (as above)
4. lighter evenings for a while from now on
5. gin, wine and beef to look forward to.
Have a good evening.I wanna be in the room where it happens14 -
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hen OK.
3) My mum, dad and brother popped round for a cup of tea for mother's day.
4) My mother's day was a bit flat to start. No bigger son and smaller son was in an horrendous mood all day, culminating in saying he wouldn't come out to a cafe with me after all "while you're in that state". (He never explained what state I was in!) So I drove to Waitrose by myself to find it shuts at 2.30 on Sundays... Thought I would do a quick geocache while I was out that way to find the park totally fenced off and dug up!
Went home again to a much quieter smaller son then bigger son appeared at 6pm bearing cheese, so that was nice. He had been at work and didn't stop long as he's gone out to the pub with his friend.
5) Phoned my school friend.
6) Sainsbury's order arrived.12 -
So sorry for your losses PK and Frith
For yesterday
1) haircut with my lovely hairdresser - latte, massage chair, catch up on the gossip
2) washed my bedspread in the bath - goodness forgot what a workout it is! but with 2 days sunshine predicted felt good to get it done
3) made a yummy pasta feta salad - 2 portions, one for lunch and one packed for tea
4) cathedral to help make up posies for mothering Sunday
5) then a 5 hour opera with gbf (hence need for packed tea) - Verdi Don Carlos, very good, beginning of act 5 something happened and the picture went and we got the Pearl and Dean music - I said to gbf I didn't know Verdi wrote that 🤣all restored and we enjoyed to the end
And today
1) lovely flowers and chocolates from dd1 (now very settled in Dordrecht). Saw DD1 was online so whatsapped (long live the verbal noun) her - she gave me a guided tour of her garden - she's busy lifting the slabs and putting in raised beds for veg
2) lovely service, ending with prosecco and nibbles to celebrate one of the congregation's 70th
3) mum for lunch - we had crab pate on toast with salad followed by mothering sunday biscuits from Fisher and Donaldson then sat out in the garden musing and soaking up the sun
4) botanics for a talk by the curator - he is fabulous and there are great things going on - it was their first hybrid event and dr m chaired. i sat next to gbf
5) gbf gave me a lift home, we walked the dogs, had a cuppa and crumpets. Bangers and mash for supper admiral then during which ds whatsapped.
and now I'm in bed, dry bedspread back on bed, listening to the archers on sounds. night allMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Happycas Edward Thomas is my absolute favourite poet. Such a talent, and such a loss..
Happy memories of studying him when I was doing my teacher training in the 70s Still read him now.

1. Slept well.
2. Bouquet of flowers arrived. I was right in assuming they were from DS2 as he hadn't out a message on them.
3. Both sons, DS1 girlfriend and my parents all arrived for afternoon tea. Prepared by DS1 and girlfriend. It was lovely with sandwiches, wild garlic scones, sausage rolls, strawberry choux buns and carrot cake. We supplied the drink.
4. My parents loved the garden which does look good with the spring flowers at the moment.
5. Vases full of flowers12
