Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep. Woken a few times by the wind (possibly worse through Storm Franklin than during Eunice). Neighbour's fence is still lying across my garden but it will be such a big job I can see why they have left it for now.
2) Bigger son and his girlfriend came round for breakfast so we did a proper cooked one.
3) I went to Ludlow in the afternoon, as that is the town that is least flooded. Interesting driving across the Clee Hill in a side (?) wind! Our nearest town has just evacuated people on the far side of the river as it is about to go over the top of the flood defences - for the third time in about 2 years.

Nothing in the charity shops in Ludlow but I had a cup of tea and wandered about generally. Also went to the new Sainsburys where pretty much everything I wanted was YS.
4) Made pittas for tea but the chicken "wasn't right", apparently... Also cooked roast veg and chicken ready for tea tomorrow plus boiled beetroot that will make 2 lunches.
5) Hoovered and steamed the floors downstairs (and the actual stairs) and cleaned the bathroom so it looks a bit tidier now.12 -
Happycas, glad to read DH is recovering at home.
1 Leftover take away turned into fake away, either way it worked really well.
2 Picked up the floor paint to do the stairs, I’ve sanded, sugar soaped so I am ready to paint tomorrow.
3 We had an Ocado order unusually for us and I have to say I’ve enjoyed it, some things did taste better.
4 Not MSE at all, but our old phones are playing up and we are considering ordering a new one which is both scary and a treat, when did they become so expensive. But we have them but don’t use a land line at all. Still scary I haven't clicked on the "order" yet.
5 Remembered to get the food from the freezer for tomorrow.

For yesterday,
Another day, another storm! Strong winds but thankfully no rain. Out first thing to the emporium and picked up a few rtc bits.
Made bread, spelt with pumpkin seeds this time.
Sorting out pensions, my nominated date is just two years away now.
Weather wise it was much nicer by the time I got over to the yard, worked my girl in the arena and she was sprightly but behaved ☺️Still light in the sky at 6pm, smashing.13 -
Good morning
After a dreadful start yesterday the weather improved and became beautifully sunny which dried up all the big puddles everywhere. We even had the patio door open for a while!
Sauaage, wedges and mushy peas for tea. I made a new batch of mushy peas in the slow cooker ( not much needed in the way of cookery skills there) and froze the rest in portions. Very MSE.
DS came after tea and brought some of DDiL birthday cake. And didn't eat all our biscuits cos he was still full of birthday tea.
DD facetimed from Tenerife.
So, all in all, a good day
Happy calmer day everyone12 -
Morning! So much weather! Too much weather! Looks slightly calmer now than it did an hour or so ago! Currently dry.Work is done. Hurrah! Tips meh! But in the jar they went and going to the bank this morning.Got a £10 off a £40 spend at l!dl on Saturday. Went round adding it all up on a scrap of paper as my phone battery was low ( for calculator) and needed the power so I could use the app to get the voucher! Life on the edge😆. I actually struggle to spend £40 there as I don’t particularly like their veggies ( was put off about 4 years ago should maybe try again?) but we have a birthday soirée next week so I got a few bits and pieces to put away for then.Had a scratch card win from Christmas Day…thought it was £4…kerching £10! So I was pleased with that and treated myself to a takeaway from local Chinese takeaway and enjoyed that very muchly! I’m currently trying to be very mindful of spending! The change went in the jam jar!Nice doggy walks…when it’s dry. Not so much when it’s foul.My poor garden fence. In a sorry state ( though still upright) part of it was removed for the digger to have access when I had my building work done and it’s never been the same since. Plus it’s old. Plus it’s quite exposed. I was chatting to friend on phone on Sunday teatime and watched the panel come away from the actual post …quick dash into the garden to try and secure. Then the overnight wind was horrendous and I was sure it would be away by morning. But still there. Friends husband popped by and and said yep I can sort it for you. Fencing contractor came by and said ooooh it’s beyond repair. You need a new one! Friend’s husband popping back to night. Thank you very much! And I know I will have to replace at some point in the future but if I can get by with a temporary fix for now! Totally over these winds!A day of chores ahead. Parcel to post. Bank to go to. May allow myself a charity shop mooch if I have time. A dog to cuddle. I miss him when I’m at work all day.Have a good day 😊12

Blimey that was a day I was pleased to wave goodbye to. A lot of fires to put out at work
1) A lovely sunny day, managed to get 2 loads of washing out woo hoo
2) At 5:30 took the boys for a walk with dd2 – she is a wise head on young shoulders and gives me advice on fire-fighting (funnily enough also got an email re. renewing my fire fighting training at work – think that’s a different sort of fire-fighting lol)
3) Cooked a yummy sweet and sour (sadly had forgotten dd2 doesn’t like sweet and sour, fortunately had served the rice and chicken separately as chicken left over cooked from Sunday)
4) Then we watched a couple more episodes of Palin round the world in 80 days – we are now successfully over to India
5) She went to bed, I did some more urgent emails, watched this is going to hurt (sniff), 2 boys gently snoring on their new bed (old duvet with blanket folded over) and was clearly so tired although i typed the above i forgot to press post. so have just retyped before hitting refresh.
mhags lol re your phone charge - i once had the ignominy of their app freezing on my phone, having an increasingly restless queue behind me, told who to contact - no apology, no refund (i had £20 on there so was understandably peeved), just told to reload app (which did not reinstate my £20) and haven't shopped there again.

Trying to book a view on a coloured building block plaice is about as much as getting the cat to actually keep her food in the bowl! Phone is gathering dust if the building block do not ring!

Bop, my phone has hit the order button also, good luck for those viewings, have you another place or is it off to travels?
1 I needed to place a couple of orders, via quidco.
2 Dinner today is roasted duck with pancakes, cucumber and hosin sauce was lovely, the fat is out for the fox.
3 I booked two camping breaks in which feels very luxurious I can’t wait; it means we need to do some work on the caravan now to make sure it’s road worthy.
4 A local garage I can walk to has started using the 2goodtogo app, I am looking forward to trying it out for the first time if I ever get to snaffle a bag on time.
5 Reading in the warm.

Hello.
PK good luck trying b to snaffle a good to go bag! It’s been weeks since I’ve managed to get one.Anyway another day of much weather. Some of it nice ( in an it’s a blooming cold wind but it’s dry kind of way) when it wasn’t being a tad ghastly.Went into town. Post office I was heading to has shut down so had to go further into town. But very pleasant staff, then to bank to deposit coins and some notes. I’d collected for a colleagues birthday and had paid with my own money as I hadn’t seen some of colleagues prior to birthday so had been given money at weekend. So that stayed in main account and tips went into savings account.Popped in to a couple of charity shops but nothing caught my eye and to be fair I really don’t need anything. Really…!Home. Hello doggy…yes it was less than an hour. Chatted to mum on phone as I really didn’t want to go round but will tomorrow. Then pottered around house, tidied bathrooms. Hoovered downstairs and washed floors.Friends were coming for Tuesday tea. Made steak pie. With RTC steak from freezer. With some added little RTC sausages. Cooked in slow cooker. RTC herby potatoes ( 20p in l!dl) roasted and the ( sobs quietly to herself) the very last of the parsnip mountain! Carrots, peas, sprouts and broccoli. It was so tasty! And as usual so much laughter. Then the beau arrived after his work…his plate was in the microwave! A RTC Swiss roll for pudding. I love our cheap and very cheerful dinners on a Tuesday. I love setting the table and preparing the food and making something out of not very much for not very much. I love our chatter and our laughter. The dog had gravy with his tea…his tail was wagging!A good day.12
