Ampersand - hope you continue to recover .
1. DH had been wanting to create a rose bed in the middle of the garden for a while. He has been advised that it needs to be done now or moving the roses does.
He dug out the flower bed - where the bonfire used to be. I put manure and topsoil on and raked it over.
2. Moved an arch so we can have roses growing over it.
3. Cut down the roses before DH dug them up and moved them. We ended up doing it all in the rain.in the end.
4. Warming up after being out side most of the day. A hot water bottle on my back helped relived the discomfort.
5. Watched the rugby which had been recorded with a glass of wine.10 -
Good morning
VJ'S mum - I used to reach a stage, when marking, when hedgelaying in the rain would have seemed preferable
D Doll - that leaf idea is brilliant. Made me feel a bit teary😥
Ampersand - hope your voice returns soon. Honey is good!
Well, the pleasure today is that hospital visiting is back on and I'm booked in at 12 for TWO hours! I'm going by bus because it's on our bus route, almost door to door, and parking at the hospital is dire.
Another pleasure is DDiL sent DS over yesterday with some fish pie and some millionaire's shortbread. So that's my tea sorted.
Didn't do much yesterday except read my book and do my puffin embroidery ( not at the same time - I'm not that good!) And receive so many phone calls my battery went flat! People are so kind.
So, off to get ready for my Valentine's treat visit.
Happy Monday everyone11 -

For yesterday,
Quiet day at home as Capt S wasn’t feeling so good, early start for me so he could have a decent lie-in but lovely cuddles with small dog.
Reading, lots of reading.
Lunch was beef brisket and cauliflower cheese, beloved fancied Yorkshire puds so we had those too.
The weather was foul with heavy rain and strong winds, small dog didn’t fancy going far and turned for home on our afternoon walk, she will be 11 this year and knows her own mind!
Caught up on the Archers and DID.12 -

SatDay nite we has the chicken tikka as usual with mushroom bitser as well, than watched The Hangover on the ultra thing. Wobbleades and cheese were taken!
Up at the sparras on SunDae to hand rub the pastry for the chicken and mushroom pie. as usual I has enuff pastry left over for some decent tarts filled with raspberry jam! Than maid the usual weakened brakefest of snorkers and best back too boot! Tee was also taken!

Happycas - fingers crossed for youy & OH & delighted your family is ensuring regular eating! Safe & happy visit.DundeeDoll - that's a very lovely tree, when many people don't know or don't speak, to have a location that says most of it is wonderful.Ampersand - please do not souse All the peaches but allow yourself at least one topically applied to sore throat?VJsmum - awed at hedgelaying (love the edged tools used, but also the collapse by a fire with a restorative after!)LaineyT - I'm all for quiet days & I love a dog old enough to know her own mind!Admiral - hand rubbed pastry: If I crate & freight the young(ish), could you teach them better ways than packets & jars? Or is patience acquired, like a patina, over time & cannot be taught?!Recent pleasuresFound several new branches on family tree, some of whom have a ludicrous relaxed approach to Facebook, so I have names, faces, locations & even some dates of birth (the big birthdays keep on giving...)Dragged my shopping tote of biscuit tins of seeds to a well lit corner & extracted various herb seeds. (Coir, vermiculite etc in sacks at one end of kitchen table but all germination trays in shed, locked & jammed with wet & wind, so planning improved: actual seeds starting not yet!)Hugely enjoyed Poirot. I do love a nicely done murder. (Brokenwood mysteries also; it's less elegant but more relaxing, somehow.)Son has suggested repotting the lemon seedlings - amused he noticed, identified & suggested, while noting he didn't actually offer to source new pots or any practical help.Youngest has developed fun new quirk - before we settle to catch up on something streamed, "cornettos?" - while venturing to the big cinema remains something we intend to get around to, he's making the 'enjoy at home' experience still more fun.As saints days go, this is looking very cold & wet & windy. Health strength love & courage to all as have need, may there be warmth about you & inside you & may your HWBs stay watertight.12

Hugs DD - but a lovely idea. We planted a magnolia for our (much earlier) lost baby. When we moved the tree couldn't come with us, so we planted another.

3 Valentines meal here, rtc beef brisket turned out really well, roasties, stuffing, cabbage, yorkie.
4 Nice to catch up with a neighbour today.
5 Whole house dragged up to clean today ahead of friends visit.
