1. Enjoyed my dog walk and the sun was out and beautiful blue skies. I took my coat off as was warm especially on the steep hills. Chat with the dogs owner for a while.
2. All paperwork,I think, has been done for my new car. I am collecting it today. It is DS1 old car as he has a brand new one from work.
3. Long chat with my parenting the phone. My Dad is in less pain. The medication seems to be working. He is more cheerful .
4. Daffodils are almost out in the garden. The snowdrops are looking good and is the first I've managed to grow. My crocus and iris are looking good.
5. Tasty tea using up veg in the fridge.10 -
Hope you continue to feel better Ampersand.
For yesterday,
Cold and a hard frost, crunchy underfoot on first dog walk of the day.
Friday tidy up and bed changed.
At the yard, the beautiful grey one had stayed in her field so all good!
Long chats with fellow livery owner and friend.
Chinese type meal, chicken dumplings, duck spring rolls and SF veg. Found a can of ready mix gin, rhubarb and ginger, left over from festive season, very good it was too.11 -
Morning all 😊
yesterday evening we went to a twice postponed Irish ☘️ music concert in London (Sharon Shannon). Very good it was too but I found the journey exhausting! Well out of practice. Walk to the station here, mainline then change on to tube, then walk to venue the other end. Then same coming home. It was worth it though and great to see live music again and OH loves it.
Needless to say, I couldn’t get to sleep afterwards but now having second cup of tea in bed although I must get up as I have a long overdue eyebrow appointment this morning.
Out again tonight for nieces birthday dinner at pub. All this gallivanting after only being out once in the evening for 2 years!
have a great weekend 😊
PS thanks for good wishes for FIL, he is finally on a ward in hospital but not sure what will happen as he is very frail.12 -

Oooh new to you car and improved ticking over father, phew.PaulieHerts - thank you for the glorious photos & very best of luck with FIL. Wow, live music!LaineyT - love sparrows awaiting breakfast! Naughty Step & work to keep horsey brain occupied - ponders equine wordle. Ready mixed rhubarb & ginger & gin? Eyes freezer thoughtfuly, I could make a base syrup for that.Happycas - always good to keep novice knitting projects under scrutiny - middlesons 'scarf' ended up fan shaped...VJsmum - sounds like the pleasure of that webinar was it it finished.SuffolkSue - hurrah the felling & removal of the shed - what will you use its space for?Frith - it does seem odd that the collarbones are the first to show weight loss, and a bit frustrating! Introductory letters - how thoughtful of you!Purple kitten - delighted you've seen All of the Princess Bride now. Relieved it's not just me with a slightly unexpected stash of tins of spuds.DundeeDoll - 15 Teams meetings? Ye Gods.Camera on for all, or could you get some stretches in behind mute?!Valentines can be a delicate balance between cryptic & near do I need a Mallet? & every faith that you are maintaining your standards.[Deleted User] - I remember family visiting - much tidying ahead of time, much conspicuous virtue that wore off too soon & then collapsing with a takeout - I hope yours was slightly less stressful? The joy of bulbs - little timebombs of hope.Ampersand - hurrah the medication but ye gods this is not taking to your chaise longue & letting the meds fight the evil invaders. Still, awed respects, & hurrah scent of hyacinth & home made soups.OS recentlyAs my laptop updates (“this will take a while” - understatement) I curl up with another chapter from "The Book Of Difficult Fruit: arguments for the tart, tender and unruly". Today, cherries, the dark sort whose stones contain cyanide. Riveting reading!Eyeing my lemon seedlings (2 hearty, 1 seeming to lose the will to live & 1 seemingly just a bit uncertain) I revise their care - ah, more water, & nitrogen rich fertiliser. And heat. How could I have forgotten heat?!Fred Dibnah mentioned horse gins & even as the correct image popped into my head, the imagination was pondering what could Evening Stables descend to… When electric cars are too expensive, I’m going for a small pony & trap.QI "Outer Mongolia doesn’t exist" & Alan Davies “but it’s in Tintin!”...'Inside the factory' in Mackies icecream factory & there are real live cows! Now that’s fresh ingredients…Had fun explaining why an excel sheet was awry to a colleague, by phone. I can say things that I couldn’t commit to a report! Words like "blinking idiot" are not acceptable.Aw Youngest. Having harangued me that these dawn starts on Thursdays were not needed, he’s confronted with the unpalatable fact that my time off ends at the 11 am meeting. Thus we have to get the lugging tackle & be back in under 120 minutes, not awaken gradually & putter off as and when.Oh cobblers, car brake jammed - a potentially expensive repair but sons got me to supermarket & back so time to sort it. [One garage so busy can't look at it for a fortnight but canny advice on parking with it in 1st & handbrake off to discourage 'sticking', other garage 15 miles away but can see car Tuesday.]Ma-in-law went on an unexpected walk, in her pyjamas, trying ‘to get home’ despite having been in the sheltered accom for decades & being off her chump with a UTI… Huge pleasure is she’s home & taking the right pills but yikes! Husband very quiet, which is not good.Coir, vermiculite & some rather elderly herb seeds await me - I'm trying to grow, not buy, the perennials. The menfolk don't think a heatmat sounds "safe" (!), so I'll be running amok with mud pies & cling film...Health strength love & courage to all as have need, along with layers for warmth & waterproofing etc as seem advisable.11

A quiet day. Apart from the incessant sound of rain on the velux windows!Work. In and out.
Bought a bunch of daffodils. A whole pound but hey! They bring me much joy and cheeriness. The niecelys arrived. Are you in? Yes. We’ll be there in 5 minutes. Oh okay! 8.30am ! So an hour of a little boy throwing non stop balls to the dog. They love each other so much. It’s lovely to see. Dog toys everywhere.FaceTimed sister when they were here and DD1.And sigh…the peace when they went away. Always lovely to see but aaaah!Nice chat to DD1…called her back when it was a bit quieter. Then lazy daisy for the rest of the day.
Had too good to go sausages at brunch time. And a very RTC veggie pizza (20p…’not suitable for freezing’ could not see any reason why it wasn’t so took it out the freezer and had it for my tea! )
Alarm set for silly o’clock!13 -
Oh Mhags, you've reminded me to answer your question. If i can
I've only had it a week! so can't really comment on it's worth. It cost £12.99 a month when films are between £6 (for an older film - i.e. House of Gucci has been out a while so that was £6) but something like Belfast would be £11.50. So the most I'd have to go to the cinema is twice a month but in reality it's one and a bit times a month, to make it pay. I think it will make us go more.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
