Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Had an afternoon pottering around including a cup of tea at Croome (National Trust).
3) Prepped stuff that I might not use up fast enough - onions chopped and frozen, butternut squash roasted ready for eating tomorrow then a salad including passionfruit (Oddbox sent me 5, which seems excessive).
4) Blood sugar diet continues and my tops are now too big in the neck/collar bones. (Who has fat collarbones? A strange place for weight to go from).
5) In bed with 2 hwb and will watch television for a while.9 -
Paulie, sorry to hear about FIL. I don’t know if it may help or if he has one? We had a telecare alarm worn around the neck he would press, we got it via payments to his local council, the people who worked on that team were worth their weight in gold.
1 The yellow and purple crocuses are coming up and the snowdrops are up. I put about 80 bulbs in the front garden today, tulips, daffodils, potted the crocosmia, hoping that may work, glad is showered a bit last night, really needed the water on the garden.
2 Popped to aldee and picked up a ready cooked chicken for 99p and a beef brisket 75 percent off, rather nice to have some different food on the meal plan this week, we are very stocked up now. Tonight’s food is build your own chicken wrap.
3 I have never really sat and watched the Princess Bride, it’s one of those films I have always caught the end of, now and think I need to read the book. We’ve been watching a movie a night on Prime which has been better than the tv offerings.
4 I’ve been quite poorly, and it crossed my mind if I have to go into hospital the kitchen has become, I know where it is but DH doesn’t cook, so I cleared out the tin cupboard and put it back in sensibly grouping items together, doing an inventory at the same time, somehow we have accumulated 8 tins of essentials potatoes.
5 I am trying to start planning some camping, it’s been 3 years since the caravan moved off the driveway. I am shocked just how much daily site charges have gone up.

For yesterday,
Trip into horsey town, lovely to see all the spring flowers coming up.
Parcel in post, a bay of E purchase.
Made soup and bread for lunch, soup was celeriac, apple and bacon, good stuff.
Pony has been doing her Steve McQueen impression so was on the naughty step at the yard, suspect seasonal issues, gave her some work to keep her horsey brain occupied.
Watched an interesting programme about Daphne du Maurier and Cornwall, we last visited four years ago and ooh it made me want to go again.

Sorry to hear you're poorly PK lol about the 8 cans of essential potatoes - I did an audit of the freezer, wrote all the meat / fish / soup things on white board with date gone in and eating in order, now onto September :-)
See I have 2 days to catch up on, so Wednesday
1) 15 teams meetings - i kid you not! - very glad i had all that kedgeree ready to just pop into the microwave (glad you approve of the gallery food admiral)
2) then off to watch Leeds - wasn't sure if i'd make it as eyes were feeling very tired and dry - sat with a lovely maxofacial chap who leaves us Sunday to start a new post in London Monday - we had a super chat, Dr M joined us for the last 10 minutes of what turned out to be a very good match (he'd got waylaid at the bar with other friends and watched the man city game)
3) Dr M and I then moved to bigger table to be joined by the 2 from the bar - by this time i was feeling very human again and we had a great laugh
Thursday
4) hadn't read papers for important meeting, woke up way before the alarm, got the papers read in time for 1st meeting, solid meetings till 2:15, cauliflower and coconut soup with bread for lunch, 3 more meetings (all very good) and a very nice sausage stew (all hm, all out of the freezer)
5) then the leicester match. i had said i'd be late but Dr M phoned to say 'where are you? the tvs aren't working, we'll have to go to the Tay Bridge' went into mennies, asked for tvs to be switched on - honestly for someone with a PhD in astrophysics from Cambridge Dr M can be a little unworldly! anyway another lovely evening and he's invited me back tonight and also unexpectedly this morning at the Botanics where he's on duty and I'm meeting a phd student and the other supervisor. So that's not on teams and not till 10, I have nothing to read before and the other supervisor is picking me up en route. i am having a lazy breakfast listening to Desert Island Discs, bliss

2. Still light when I left work. Makes a difference to my wellbeing.
3. Free lunch at work - a bean burger which was tasty.
4. Watched some rugby league.
5. Enjoyed a glass of wine.10 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Did a job that I had been putting off for a few days. I wanted to write a letter thanking the executor of sons' auntie (who left them some money). I hadn't seen the auntie since getting divorced and have never met her sons (one of whom had posted the cheques). So I had to think back to memories of over 17 years ago, word everything properly and "introduce" him to sons. I went to Ludlow and sat in a cafe with a pot of tea with extra hot water and decided I would stay in there until I had finished writing. I had already made notes on my phone. I was on my second sheet of A4 and hadn't looked up from what I was doing for an hour when a man went past and said, "I haven't seen anyone write a letter that long in years!"
4) Went round the charity shops afterwards and to the museum (which, in four decades, I have never seen open before!)
5) Chips from the van for smaller son; I had a curry made from leftover spinach and butternut squash which was surprisingly nice.
6) Cleaned the bathroom and the house generally is tidy.
7) In bed with 2 hwb and will watch Would I Lie to You? and the Last Leg. I read Bob Mortimer's autobiography yesterday (it was easy reading!)10 -
Very long day, very long week.
Last week has been a wipeout nightmare out of nowhere. After midweek Comnunion yesterday, Vicar spoke of nearby friend, busy+healthy comme &, also currently hit by same bomb without warning.
DG it's at last waning under 24/7 pharma attack.
1. Food Run done, out 4am. Still voiceless. De-icing took an hour. Temp. rose to -2⁰ max in Town of Gown. A supermarket beginning with S.....😖🤬🧐🥺.
Completely disorganised, as every time, despite advance call, now necessary every time for this one. Threw timings for all the rest on &'s biggest load ever in little Meriva. But, big BUT, all saved from landfill, all meets real need.
Plus crates and boxes for'arder still, plus front passenger seat+footwell.
2. Late starting in consequence, collecting marginal person for appt. but - long story short - swapping them to kinder/wiser help after appalling and shoddy lies from previous lot for the 3rd time. New practice has accepted them for interview+examination next week, ahead of Addenbrookes op. and follow-up biz. 🤞🙏
3. At last - scents the kitchen.💜💚
4. Lots of lovely soup mentions here. & has done same for 2 days now - all our same old best Use Up faves😁😋. Carrots, turnip, onions, celery, veggie water, odds and ends of stock. Blitzed to perfection. Looks orange, tastes v.g.
5. More blitzing and another rugby preview sorted, published. All matches away.....today, yes it now is! 😱. Anxious for our 1sts and Nomads v Belsize Park and Eton Manor respectively. Bonus point wins needed to keep us snapping at League leaders' heels. & has now been on busy+go for 21hrs non-stop.

Still doping up as per Dr, but sense of resurfacing really is transformative. Will now read some more Stella Rimington.
A wonderful CS find late yesterday. Pic next time.

and all of a sudden Friday is done
1) no need to get up early and my lovely dd2 brought me a cuppa in bed
2) then i sat in the kitchen listening to desert island discs - i love fridays!
3) phd meeting at 10 with colleague and great student - we sat in the botanics cafe for 90 minutes drijnking tea and laughing - oh it was so good!
4) then called in on dr m and the curator of the garden
5) roll forward - finished checking minor phd changes and to the pub, nearly 2 hours 'late' but was a lovely lovely evening - caught up with friends who i've met through dr m and eventually ended up sitting next to dr m and then we walked home. tomorrow he may get a valentine's card from me but i suspect i have made it far too cryptic 🤣. whatever, we'll be in the pub for the leicester game on sunday.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Good morning! What a dreary morning here after a beautiful day yesterday. Been and done work. Was in at 5.30 and home by 6.30am.Friday was a lovely day. A cold frosty start which is much more preferable to walk a dog than this mornings effort!Lovely walk. Then round to mums. Did what needed doing and home.
Decided to hang a washing out and it got a good blow and was almost dry.Operation get that garage sorted! It’s been a dumping ground for too long. Put a few things up on local FB page that were collected. Swept up. Stuff out to recycle. Booked an appointment at local tip to get more stuff away.Had a nice dinner with DD2. We had chicken and rice and veggies. Then an early night. Which has been the case the past few weeks. Post Covid tired still.Have a lovely weekend12
