Good morning and Happy New Year
Had a good day yesterday, considering!
DD came early to take me to visit DH. Coffee and a natter. DH looks loads better and is resigned to staying in hospital until IV antibiotics course complete. DS picked me up and came in for coffee and another natter.
In the evening I was invited to neighbours' for wine and more nattering. Didn't stay late but had had a nice sociable day
And then 2022
No visitors allowed at hospital !!
Got up to cold house. Boiler not working!!
I know first world problems!!
Not much can be done about visiting, and at least we have mobile phones.
I know what's wrong with boiler - needs topping up, has happened before - but no idea how to mend it. I didn't marry a fitter to mend things myself!!
I'm sure someone will and if not we do have a BGas service contract thing. But I think you have to pay a call out fee so I'll try family and friends first.
So, 2022, I do hope you're not starting as you mean to go on !
Happy New Year everyone14 -
Happy New Year to all who write or follow here, thank you for sharing your ups and downs throughout the years, I do love this thread x
For yesterday,
Changed the sheets and made a loaf.
A game of tennis balls with small dog in the garden, then sat on the swing seat and had a cup of tea, so mild.
Over to see my gorgeous horse, she was appropriately muddy after spending the morning out with no rug. Chat with lady who is now sharing my pal’s horse, my other pal also came over so nice social time. Laughed at her horse who is having to have his legs hosed twice a day but keeps taking the hose out of her hands with his mouth and waving it around, soaking everyone within range 😆
Home and a thoughtful gift was hanging from the garden gate.
Easy tea of picky bits, glass of something cold & sparkly, few games of Yahtzee, watched The Other Boleyn Girl ( never seen ) then watched the fireworks going up from the village before heading to bed.

Brief update.
DD turned into emergency plumber. She knew what to do cos she once lived in a rented flat where it had to be done regularly. Sorted it and showed me what to do. Just as you said D Doll ! But hopefully next time it happens DH will be back, fingers crossed.10 -
Happycas - feared I had regifted Something Nasty in worst of leak+boiler ways. So glad to read all is well - thanks to dd, too - and of your dh accepting and improving generally.

1. Writing this outside, watching last 3 wash loads blowing on line .... just as spitty rain begins. Quick rescues, &. No improvement on yesterday's murky failures, but they can be donated as super-clean doggie bedding.
2 & will open last year's Chrimbo presents ce soir.🙂
3. One white Christmas rose under clothesline has survived and bloomed. It's a bit nibbled but & is happy to see it. Goes with white hyacinth indoors, now very scenty.
4. Excellent vintage Lafitte fizz find in no.1 shed last night, enjoyed in tall cut crystal flute. Had more with strange lunch of choice😁not long ago. Contrary to much thinking, good champers sits and saves well in fridge. Still une demi-bouteille for &.🍾
5. Lovely greetings and online HNY etceteras from Yurp and Southern hemisphere.

On some sort of 'just in case' basis, took lateral flow test after yesterday's drying marathon. Negative, 👏

Hens made it!
Fresh Sheets.
New PlantsThe Bells!
Had the buffet last night, chicken satay, prawns and bits. Fiery fizzy waters as well. Film was Central Intelligence very good again. Court up with the uni challenge and only one too go! Cheeses were taken.
Saw the bells and fireworks. Brought me box in as well!
Woke up on every cats birthday! We has seen a few, but Ms. Kitty is the current lodger. Did you know that all previous cats you have gather on NYE to wish a happy birthday to the current cat!
Had the usual breakfast of bangers and best back with loads of mushrooms as well. Poached egg and toms!

Happy New Year and all that!Went to bed well before the bells last night but woke up just before and there was much firework noise. I didn’t bother looking at them just thought what a racket!Watched ‘Stay Close’ on Netflix….pffft don’t waste your life ( unless like me you have nothing else to do and are not allowed out for a further 8 days!)
Did a bit more pruning in the garden. Another buckets worth filled.Hung a washing out, enjoyed watching it blow in the very breezy breeze and it was almost dry when I brought it in. Odd but happier to have line dried washing! This time last year it was snowy!Had traditional home made steak pie for NYD dinner with roast potatoes/parsnips. Broccoli and carrots and sprouts, Then had pavlova for pudding. I can’t really taste and nor can DD2 but we both decided it was all delicious 😋 in lieu of having no fresh fruit I opened a tin of peaches for the pavlova.DFV so much love sent to you x12 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday and New Years Day)
1) A lie in! Woke at 10.
2) Hens OK. Took them a bit of last night's shepherds pie.
3) Bigger son and his girlfriend came round to make a game in the shed and stayed for tea.
4) Next door neighbour, who recently had an enormous heart operation, fell over in the shower and had coronavirus over the last fortnight! Luckily he is unscathed. He showed bigger son his scar. I've already been shown it!
5) Printed out the tickets for the football tomorrow (finally!) 2 games have been cancelled. In a very rare move, bought some premium bonds.
6) Not feeling very well so in bed now with one hot water bottle and will watch Skyfall. I like the incidental music. Bigger son says basically everyone he knows now has coronavirus (and our neighbour had it) so I wondering vaguely if I have it too. Just a headache and feeling a bit "off" so far.13 -
Thinking of you today DforV - so difficult, please accept a virtual hug
