Tipping with rain, DS (back home in Aberdeen without laptop, cat or food as was planning on travelling back today) has tested +ve. we are still -ve. but my nose is itchy. though that might be psychosomatic and i can't even remember what the symptoms are now... goodness the new version of Russian Roulette goes on! The good news is he's feeling fine and it was good of him to remember to do his LFD before getting a train back. Admiral last 2 Luton matches have been postponed
I like your idea mhags of a chapter then a chore. I am determined to get through my work inbox while everyone is away (am delaying responses to my first day back) and need something to motivate me - a chapter of a book then 12 emails might just work, next book has 25 chapters. This morning I have managed to get down from 839 -> 698

i like the idea of a chapter then a chore .
Have just asked to join the decluttering thread ,most of DH clothes have gone to the charity shop ,now just the bungalow to sort ,
pleasures
1 Good catch-up and coffee with a friend at her house ,wondering how much longer we will be able to meet in person,.Really hoping it won’t be banned ,personally I don’t think further lockdowns will help now
2 DGD much better and itching to get back to uni as they have a NYE party planned !
have only seen her from a distance to wave to and suspect I won’t now until Easter .
3 have investigated the BB dates of unopened goodies and will be putting them out of sight .!
4 want to get outside but horrible penetrating drizzle so will stay in and try book and chore etc .
5 got a huge turkey crown ,original price £26 ,reduced to £6 ,now safely in my freezer and now wondering when on earth I’ll use it .Old habits died hard 🤣🤣12 -
1. More laundry done. Several binliners full in car, ready to be dried somehow, somewhere. More everything for doing more laundry bought, double. Start another load now, &. Ferry another binliner of damp to car. 1st world prob. stoicism kicking in on another filthy grey, wet day.🙄
2. This WILL all be sorted at some point.
3. First vase hyacinth suddenly budding, white flower+scent, despite near nil growth. Another plant-y thing that hasn't behaved as usual. 2nd one is equally shy, tardy. Hopefully another osp hyacinth in store.
4. Took transportless person shopping in 4 places over 5hrs this morning. MrT had, still has, fresh whole and smoked salmon bargains. Can't use former, but bought 4×350gm pks of latter, sliced - £2.50 each! Ridiculous to see them with 100gm packs@£3.50, 200gms@£7!
5. Took self to Festive Match hier soir, where drying idea materialised! Enough turned up to make a highly enjoyable mixed gender game feasible, competitive and great fun. & even assumed scaled-down raffle harridan rôle for the night - and a fine magnum of Moët&Chandon. A good, happy families evening - fulltime: Shelford 6 - Shelford 5.😁.

2. This WILL all be sorted at some point.
1) mum also -ve, relief, messaged Dr M, DS still feeling fine (And as Dr M reminded me tested -ve before he left 3 days ago and we're all testing -ve, all fully vaxxed and boostered), he now has food and LCDs (can't get a PCR for love nor money)
2) managed to get through another 250 work emails, only 600 to go - new year's resolution, not to let it happen again even if it means I'll cancel the odd meeting to ensure I have caught up by the end of each week
3) made a very tasty turkey stew, had the chestnut soup for lunch and have put 2 portions into the freezer
4) went for walk with dd2 - another bag of litter picked and a good stretch of the legs for her, me and the spaniels
5) posted dd1's christmas present - i know, a little late, work was a bit manic before I broke up - and bought more cat food and cat litter as we seem to have the feline house guest for a little longer than plannedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Wednesday - I had to check)
1) Spent the evening catching up on Its a Fair Cop, after DD mentioned it.
2) Had a lie in.
3) Cleaned the hen house out (not mine, but the one where they are staying during avian flu times). I think it had a deep litter system - throwing clean bedding on top of soiled. Not my style and it took a great deal of effort to clean out and swap for my chosen lovely dengie bedding.
4) Took smaller son to Sainsburys.
5) Cleaned the worst of the rubbish from the car.
6) Cleaned the bathroom including stripping down the shower screen and seals to clean and bleach them properly. Also tidied, sorted presents out a bit etc.
7) Camembert baked for tea.
8) Watched University Challenge.12 -
Recent pleasures:
2 fairly lazy days while OH off, eating, some drinking and watching tv. He also does a lot of snoozing 💤
Slightly more active today as we went down to the town to pick up my half price boots toiletries order (for birthdays in February) half price Christmas 🎄 cards and half price wrapping paper, very MSE 😊
Cut up the remaining turkey 🦃, gammon, vegetables and added leeks, onions and stock and made a base for a Leftovers Christmas dinner pie, topped with reduced price pastry, delicious and also MSE!
Watched Sean Connery talking pictures and then his film, the first Great Train Robbery, the Pauline Collins documentary then Christmas University Challenge.
Night all 💤11 -
1. Had to work but liked the few others that were also working. My clinic room is tidy and so much has been thrown out. Very frustrating that very few patients had been booked in. Seemed a waste of time.
2. A walk at lunchtime to say hello to colleague who was isolating. She tested positive just before Christmas and been in her shared house alone since. I stood at the end of her path and chatted for about 15 minutes. Took her some biscuits and chocolate.
3. Tidied up and house looks much better. Some washing done.
4. Lit candles. Flowers still looking good.
5. More leftovers eaten up9 -
Some horse owners use the deep litter system Frith, not my cup of tea at all.For yesterday, no idea what the actual day was!
Yet more rain in the morning so Capt S got the hoover out while I made bread, did some washing and a meal plan for next week, recipes from new cookbook will feature heavily.
There was a sorry looking avocado left in fridge so mashed that up and had the last of the salmon on top for lunch.
By the time I got to the stables it was dry and a balmy 14 degrees so managed to get out, splashing through the puddles as we went.
Home and small dog wanted her walk, smashing sunset.
Enjoyed the second episode of Worzel Gummidge and then watched one of the many festive Only Connect’s.
