5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Oh dear Ampersand.
Quiet Christmas Day, just the 2 of us, but OH took hot, plated turkey dinners to his parents (10 minutes away). I think they enjoyed it but Day was spoilt by another panic call to 111 by his dad and the district nurse coming out to him. Probably another urine infection as he has had a catheter in for weeks. His parents increasing fragility and health problems are getting to be a real problem.
We managed to enjoy our dinner and chocolate roulade to follow.
Drank wine 🍷 and Baileys, ate chocolates and played scrabble (I won again 🤣)
Today was our traditional family Boxing Day, this time at my nieces. Hadn’t seen my nephew and 2 great nephews for 2 years. We all did LF tests first.
Lots of food, wine and chat. Lovely to see everyone and loads of presents 🎁
Now tucked up in bed and hoping for a good sleep as it eluded me last night.
Night all 💤

Good morning
Oh Ampersand, what a pain!
Well, our Christmas Day went very wrong, very quickly.
Started well with DD and partner visit, bacon sandwiches, pressies etc.
They went, we started to get ready to go see DS and family when DH felt ill.
Long story, short version.
A and E ( only DH allowed in, DS and I sent home), tests, scans, admitted to ward. Drains, tubes, hopefully operation on Wed. Adhesions from old op. ( doesn't mean a thing to me but I'm sure they're right)
He's in a single room and I am allowed to visit for one pre-booked hour per day. Nil by mouth, tubes everywhere, very fed up but, thankfully, operable .
The pleasure, as always, is the kindness and support of family and friends. And the modern blessing of mobile phones so at least we can chat regularly even if I can't be there.
Happy not-sure-what-day-it-is everyone

Oh dear Happycas at least he’s in the right place and being looked after. It is hard with visiting restrictions but thank goodness for phones ! Take care of you too please x
and & how absolutely maddening for you. Hopefully you can rescue your beautiful old linens and get everything dry.Day four or five of self isolation. ( it finishes on Sunday at midnight) lost count! Ppppft! I’m still currently testing negative.Yesterday the boiler had lost pressure so was a tad cold . Ventured into the garage to sort it and heat and water were restored but house was so cold so lit the fire and basically sat on a sofa and read a book and topped up logs all day! And ate! And that was my Boxing Day. I’ve never really been a fan of the day anyway so was happy just to see it pass!Anyway I’m going to be more productive today! She says! No more jammie days!Have a nice day,.11 -
Sending much in the way of positive wishes for DH’s operation on Wednesday HappyCas, thank goodness for those phones for much needed chats x
What absolute rubbish on your ruined linens &, seem to remember that there was a launderette down Xning Road?
Boxing Day pleasures,
Slow emergence from various bedrooms, coffee, tea and toast provided as needed.
Then loved ones gradually left to spend time with others and it was just the two of us plus small dog left, house seemed quiet!
Time to spend thoroughly looking at lovely gifts received, several books including N Slater, A Cook’s Book.
Long snooze on sofa in afternoon.
Grazing tea, bit of reading then enjoyed Bob and Paul fishing.9 -
sending hugs Happycas as others have already said he’s in the right place, hope you doing well xxxOh poor you ampers, I'm just about to embark on the washing, the weather is dreich.

25th
1) super duper Christmas - midnight mass with ds, we got a taxi home, reckoned worth every penny so back for 1 for a glass of sherry having opened it for Santa then bed (normally we all go but dd2 and dm decided to give it a miss this year and actually, with current SEC guidance, we were pretty much full)
2) all our stockings had been filled and the sherry, biscuit and carrot gone. What a mystery! stockings contents very popular, mum arrived and we had a lovely facetime with dd2 and a tour of her house. 4 stockings, one for her, one for her friend, and one each for their 2 cats, each with their initial - spelt out LAMP
3) then I went for a run (!) with dd2 then a litter-pick with the boys (am doing 1 litter-pick for each day of Christmas, see day 2 below) while mum cooked dinner
4) fabulous dinner, turkey with all the trimmings (and yes including sprouts admiral! )
5) took mum home (dd2 doesn't drink in the house) then back for call the midwife and a very good night's sleep
And yesterday was another super day - church, DS to bus station, litter pick, lots of tv with dd2 then bed. Note greedy Bilbo Baggins trying to eat the Christmas pud pattern from the door mat!!!MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Ampersand, despite everything your post sounds so positive :-)Frith. Friendly albinos are literally the absolute best, I bet he looks forward to being well fed at your brothers.
1 A lazy day and lay in.
2 De cluttered 2-bathroom shelves and a storage shelf.
3 Sliced all the remaining turkey and portioned to the freezer, 6 portions / 12 meals, left enough out for tonight and a turkey sarnie tomorrow.
4 About to watch a new Disney film.
5 Foxes well fed.
A slightly sad note, we were trying to look after an ill bird, but despite eating and drinking it didn't make it, but it was protected and warm at least at it's end.
