Muffins.
Iced Cake, ours came out at 9lb 5oz this year!
Toblerone!Festivities Commence!
Was out last night for pizza at the fiery water emporium. Very quiet there as people decided to stay away! Can see it in new year where if you want to go out, it will be a $10 a person non refundable deposit? Mind you the fire was roaring away!
Got to day 24 on #whamagedden and still not shopped for sprouts! Please remember sprouts are non food! When IO did my apprenticeship, we processed sprouts, those on stalks were removed, mulched and turned into cattle food! Now they sell them overpriced in w8r5!
Missed the bash as it was on early and it is the season, so having to watch the replay! Tea is mugged and a KitKat at the ready. The cake, laced in bourbon will be cut open and sliced shortly! Proper food!
Got the chicken satay brewing, see notes passim for recipe that is not in any Jimmy the Cook's books! And two buzzard leg tikka are maturing on the side as well! Will be served with some fiery fizzy waters and cheeses!Season Tips
- Do not put the cigarettes in the bin to give up smoking, because on day three you will be scrambling in the bin to light one up! Finish every last one, even if you're on the day you said you are giving up. Then stop cold turkey! Wear a patch for the first 7 and you will stop forever. The day you select has to be different, such as a course or a conference!
- The Admiral did this in 2005! Not one since!
Keep Safe
Stay off the Sprouts!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -
I never read Stephen King novels because they are too scary.
Decided to read 'cell' and it wasn't that bad.

Pleasures for Christmas Eve!
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Went to my sister's for lunch as did bigger son, my parents and brother. Swapped some presents. Interesting to see which presents people are interested in and those where they say, "Oh, that's nice" and put it to one side. Niece liked the cheap as chips "make your own stained glass window" cookie kit from TKMaxx. In case I look back on this post in years to come, we had chicken tagine and giant cous cous then trifle in grandma's bowl.
4) I had been in contact with the archivist at Hereford Cathedral as they are going to do a talk/tour of the Gurney heaters. My dad converted these to gas and so today we presented him with a printed out email as the archivist wants to talk to him over the phone then he has free tickets for the talk as her guest! This amused him and I think he will go ahead with it.
5) My brother has borrowed someone's infrared (?) gun sights so we went in the garden at my sister's looking for where heat is escaping from her house.
6) Smaller son very upset that Hereford football team (and Kettering) have coronavirus so our team matches are cancelled until Jan 8th. We got a Chinese takeaway for tea so he is mollified slightly.
7) Bigger son and I went to Sainsburys to take advantage of the yellow stickers but the meat hadn't been done (we did stand around and go and look at other stuff but they weren't rushing!) We did get lots of 19p blueberries for the freezer plus 19p parsnips, carrots and mushrooms.
8) We watched the Repair Shop and Gardeners World.
9) The new Christmas Eve pyjamas are on! Smaller son's are too small (he must be an x large now).
10) Santa is considering stocking logistics when there isn't a square cm of bed left to put them on that isn't taken up with legs and one person is still awake, playing on the computer...
Merry Christmas!12 -
Hope everyone whose plans are scuppered still manage to enjoy the big day and the sufferers aren’t too poorly 😘
Friend round for duck pancakes and 🍷 for lunch yesterday. We played scrabble with OH, I won 😊
Prepared the veg and made the sponge for chocolate roulade .
Watched Christmas Carol, Gavin and Stacey Christmas 🎄 Special, and Reindeer’s First Christmas and had gammon dinner, mince pies, wine 🍷, Bailey’s and chocolates! Your average Christmas Eve!
Now in bed reading on here.
Happy Christmas 🎄 everyone 😘13 -
Sorry to hear of loved ones being clobbered with Covid, hope quick recoveries are made.
For today,
Lazy start followed by a leisurely breakfast.
Made mince pies, sausage rolls and hummus.
Everyone came with me to see the beautiful grey one, she fluttered her long eyelashes at them all and received carrots & parsnips in return.
Walks with small dog, she was in seventh heaven with four of her human slaves throwing tennis balls for her.
Christmas Eve buffet and a new board game, Confidence, which was a good buy. We’ve enjoyed the festive episode of ACGAS and now laughing at Last Leg.12 -
Merry Christmas everyone.
Hope all recover quickly.
For the past couple of days.
1. Saw Carols at the Royal Albert hall. Very christmassy. A walk through London . Royal Albert hall looked great from the outside with an enormous Christmas tree.
2. All food shopping done for a while. Shops were so quiet early on Christmas eve.
3. Another trip to London and all trains very quiet.
4. Had lunch with DS2 and his girlfriend. Then they treated us to a drink at the Ritz. Fantastic people watching.
5. Went to see pantoland. Donny Osmond was very good in it.12 -
Happy Christmas to all
Thank you for all of your support during this tough (not only for me and mine) year. It always amazes me how a few kind words can make all the difference. But they do.
Sending all the warmest virtual hug possible.
Have a wonderful day....

Happy Christmas everyone
So sad to hear of so many disrupted plans. I hope celebrations can be postponed rather than cancelled.
V Life - envious of your London day. It's less than 2 hours by train from here but we haven't been for nearly three years now. Can't think why! But I've already decided we'll go sometime next December, DV
So far, our day looks to be going ahead as planned, fingers firmly crossed.
Have the best Christmas Day that's possible for you today ( does that make sense?. I'm sure you know what I mean!)
Xx
