Good morning
A most beautiful sunrise to start the day well
Was pleased when someone said yesterday it was the winter solstice. Summer's on its way . Hooray! ( though I guess I shouldn't be wishing my life away)
My back is much better so I've not got the same excuse for 'resting'. But I'm very happy it's on the mend.
Had some random meal selections lately in an attempt to sort out freezer but yesterday was a very normal pizza and chips. We had to make a start on the Christmas Yule log because I haven't been baking. Very nice it was too.
Long phone chat yesterday with a friend. She lives alone and is very worried about the new virus surge. It's hard when friends feel isolated but are unhappy about having visitors/ going out . Chatted and tried to reassure but I fear the endless news coverage has more impact than I could.
Last last-shop today! Sprouts incoming!
Happy nearly- there everyone10 -
For yesterday,
A day of big cleaning and tidying ahead of our oh please let it be so guests, they are testing each day in anticipation, all boosted up as well.
Have left a few unwanted cookery books in spare room to offer to youngest DSS as he is a surprisingly enthusiastic cook, my collection was long overdue a cull.
Stopped at lunchtime and enjoyed a bowl of soup with fresh baked bread.
We opened our cards and a Yule present as is our tradition at the solstice, my eyes were rather leaky at the beautiful words written by my beloved.
Sausage and lentil stew for tea with a glass of something cold and sparkling in celebration.

Moor Marking!
Ok I will not ask! Are the Hens Alright?
Bonkers in the fens, and treats available?
Turkey released from the freezer.
Pizza Lunch.
Dog walked.
Pizza and chips!
Cook Books, What are these? Admiral cooks from nana's hand scribbled notes!Missed the Rocks!
Red sky this morning and cold, had to defrost the wheels. Packed up the Albatross' lunch box and allowed her to drive to work, I acted as time keeper. Unlucky that the overpriced w8r5 wagon blocked her path and my record still stands! I will let her have another shot in the new year!
Watched the gooooners last night in the tin pot competition, had some fiery waters and cheese! Kitty had her pawsome treats as well. In fact yesterday, she had her treats three times! So none today!
Went to the discount surplus store early and shot round. Got everything in for the season, and no sprouts! It is beef this year and home made Yorkshires, non of that prefabricated carp! Not available in any Jimmy the Cook Book! Oh by the way, was flipping the oggle box yesterday, has the cook dyed his hair?
Now watching the bash with my apple, cheese and mug of tea. KitKat biscuit is also available today!Season Rules
- Do not get into debt trying to show people how much you love them.
- Do not visit people if it compromises your life.
- If someone comments on your appearance, eat them!
Keep Safe and stay off the sprouts!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!15 -
Busy start to day.Had a decent sleep. Which makes such a difference.Round to mums but went and did her shopping rather than taking her with me. Shop was packed so I’m glad I just nipped round myself. Did a bit of tidying there. Then had to go back in for my own stuff!Home.Doggy walks and posted letters. DD1 had sent me cards from Oz and if I could just pop a stamp on them for her! Then delivered some other cards without a sniffy dog who just holds me back!Moved rugs.13

Recent pleasures:
Blood test done , quick in and out by appointment, no waiting for hours like pre COVID.
As I was nearby, I went into the medium size Tesco, before the mad rush and got some Christmas 🎄 drink and chocolate presents as well as the veg on offer.
Today I had to pull my finger out and sort and wrap presents as they were cluttering up the dining room table and my 2 friends were coming tonight for Chinese.
So I sorted and wrapped , including making up a goodie hamper for sis in law, that was great fun trying to cover a cardboard box in gold paper, making the contents look nice and then wrapping it up in cellophane!, Took ages ☹️
Most presents wrapped and looking pretty.
Iceland delivery, so that should be it food wise!
Nice evening with 2 oldest friends, Chinese takeaway and 🍷. We all did lateral flow tests beforehand.
i might have nibbled on the small toblerone when they had gone!
night all 💤

1. a lovely sunrise.
2. Met a friend before work for a coffee. She came to the hospital for a blood test. A good was to start the day.
3. A success at work. Something I have been asking for for years has been agreed. I think it came down to saying I was on the verge of walking out and never coming back. The other alternative was to stop seeing a particular type of patient. My line manager said it would mean I would drop my banding to which I agreed and then listed the other patients I wouldn't be able to see. I was in tears at this point. She went away to discuss with her manager what could be done and within an hour my solution was agreed and been implemented.
4. Rearranged spare bedroom to pull out the out you up bed. DS1and girlfriend have somewhere to sleep Boxing day night.
5. Went for a drink at the pub and met some friends. A good evening13 -
Some good news re work VL
For yesterday,
Hard frost and a cold start but the sunrise was stunning.
Lovely farrier came to trim horse’s feet, first regular visit since abscess but she was a little treasure and stood quietly. Big carrot for a treat.
The cold had set in after being out all morning so got under the sofa blanket after lunch, next thing I know Tipping Point was just about to start and beloved was closing the curtains!
Spiced BS ravioli with mushroom sauce for tea, yum.
Best news of all, young people continue to test negative! and will be driving down today.13 -
