5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year’s Eve.
For yesterday
1 Took a lot of stuff to be recycled, a pleasure that it’s not rattling around.
2 I returned 2 tops I purchased in a sale online, but free returns and so returned, I’ll put the money towards a black dress instead.
3 DH and I decided on a change of scenery, so ambled off to look around the sales, I was pleasantly surprised by the George sale, 2 t shirts and a cardigan all for a total of a tenner not vital but nice, and in Dunelm we picked up 40 kilner lids for £2 total, all things we use. We both found it nice but also hard as shopping for DF is integral, as he broke everything a lot of the time.
4 We had a light lunch at the range which was a lovely hot turkey and stuffing panini.
5 We shopped around to price up what needs to be done at the house, made a start and bought what we had to, just enough to make a start.
6 A slice of C0tco pizza in the oven for a very late dinner.
For today, literally everything is making me cry, but there are pleasures to be found.
1 DH and I haven’t really slept properly since the news, last night no exception, but we did lay in.
2 Grilled bacon for brekkie well brunch really.
3 I took it easy, tiny amounts of tidying, enjoying the birds, woodpecker and finches down in the garden.
4 A couple of days food planning done, today is from freezer batch cooking turkey mince lasagne with a host of veg. I’ve taken a pork joint out as that’s DH’s tradition on New Year’s Day.
5 Spent a while mesmerised by the moon, as I checked the fireworks by the scout hut weren’t freaking the animals who couldn’t have cared less. Looked up and its not a full moon, super moon, wolf moon until 2nd, should be spectacular.0 -
Happy NYEve to one and all.
1. Had a lovely chilled out evening with my friend J last night. She had lots of unopened buffet food in her fridge, so we made short work of some of that and drank prosecco. Bliss!
2. Reverbe'd 2 for our seaside slot machine spends
3. YS bread thins for picnics, safely tucked away in the freezer.
4. Looking forward to reading the brilliant books I was given yesterday.
5. KW took me to view our second allotment - it's massive and needs a lot of work, but he's very excited about it! I'm pleased it's kind of paid for itself already, as he's found 30 strawberry plants, 2 water butts, a composter, a shed and other goodies amongst the debris (and there's a lot of that to clear!!)

Happy New Years Eve, everyone
Not sure if I have 5 pleasures today but here goes
1. No Spend Day - lunch and dinner came from food in the house.
2. Because of 1. I didn’t have to brave the rain or the sm.
3. Husband very appreciative of both meals - wants more dinners with sprouts!
4. Lovely phone call from my brother in Germany.
5. Lucky enough to have had a pretty good 2017.
6. Happy to have “met” lots of lovely people on MSE Forum Threads.
Wishing everyone a happy, healthier, easier 2018.
Looking forward to your stoic and uplifting posts, as well as dispensing & receiving (((hugs))) when needed or wanted.

3 Good year this one, two trips to the Big Apple and cleared over £23,000 in assets, as well as pensions sat nice at £13,000. First one pays now in less than 50 months! Pocket money for the BoP![/B]
Bravo BoP tres bien. Pour moi, NO little SDs so mortgage free several years ago plus able to retire 6.5 yrs ago at age 52 & allowed my husband to retire in January this year. This year 5 trips to France to visit sister - no accommodation costs + 1 to Germany to see brother & again no accommodation costs. Decent pension as were both in DB schemes which were not robbed by “the Man”. I am very grateful for my life as I have been extremely lucky - in all things apart from a little hiccup with husband number 1!
So everyone have a lucky 2018 - you all definitely deserve it.Be Kind. Stay Safe. Break the Chain. Save Lives. ⭐️2025 Savings Pot Challenge: As a monthly amount, running total = £299.00

Happy New Year, everyone!
Pleasures for New Year's Eve:
1) A lie in.
2) Hens well.
3) Spent quite a long time sorting the house out before our "party" this evening. Cleaned the bathroom, stairs, floors etc.
4) Made a chicken tikka masala, rice, naans, bhajis and had poppadums. And Bombay potatoes.
5) My school friend and my brother came over.
6) Bigger son appeared just as the food was being served after storming off this morning "never to return".
7) Have written my New Year's resolutions out plus a list of tasks to be completed next year...0 -

Happy New year to everyone.
1. Phoned both sons and family friend who all were happy and looking forward to the new year, in different ways as friend wants to get his health sorted and he should have had surgery by end of January.
2. A family WhatsApp group where the "children" wanted to organise a pub crawl but take a 12 year old with them!
3. Warm day and went and looked round a garden/park with an enormous area of bamboo with many paths you can walk through. Love the sound of bamboo when there is any wind.
4. Watched a light show in a local town with a glass of wine. Lasted about 25 minutes and was really good.
People around were happy and many in fancy dress.
5. I then cooked fish for our meal before going for a walk to see fireworks at midnight. The fireworks lasted about 20 minutes I kept thinking that must be it but then more came. Good way to finish the year.
I feel that 2018 will bring some changes some will be welcome and others not so much.0 -
Similar, skint, so will wish us - and everyone -- wellness through this 2018 of a year.
(Return of this thing neither expected, nor wanted. Don't want Adbkes again.)
Setting off, biggish miles drive: 150+ferry+1005ish after club rugby on Saturday.

1. Not a pleasure yet, but will be. A very & sort of thing just heard on R4, equation to solve: beer+beer = drunk. Well, straight away, r is common to both. Factor e x 4. Etc. Always loved simultaneous equations once I found their poetry:-), thanks to Mr Mawson, brilliant maths and biology teacher, brum immigrant to 60s Enzed.
2. Yesterday's Church. Nearly missed. Had set off to huntngather c.5bells as usual, only to find not on. Back came &. Next thing known, coming to, with not quite enough time to reach service. Made it anyway and glad. Special sermon.
3. ...after which, put bulbs in around an RNZAF pilot's grave. Learnt of it only recently and will more or less take on its upkeep. I'll add in just hearing Giles Fraser on R4, another of &'s keepers:-). Seems to fit with this osp.
4. New bank card has come. Have managed to keep split one going until now. Found 2 old £ coins to change over tomorrow. Also bungled way through bus pass renewal, all online now. Palaver indeed, yet clever.
5. Used all the 10p emporium cherries, blueberries, cranberries in a Jumbly Jam. 9 jars. Amazing stuff, beautiful to look at, beautiful taste. Upped the pectin with chopped Bramleys and lemons in muslin. Pitted cherries first, added stones to muslin. Now to wash hair to clean cherry juice fingers...
Vaguely played with this recette as template:

6. Managed some weeding, more bulbs, in fading light in & squat borders. Will finish today.

Need another black green tea, in bed. So I will do it. Then read, maybe.

Happy New Year!
SYA Hope you feel better soon.
I am wide awake at normal time, even though I went to bed at 2am. Why?.......Gave DS2 a lift to a party, then collected him, and also gave a lift home to 2 of his friends. Got home just before 2am......Went to the bathroom at 6am, only to be greeted by DS2 on the landing, with a plea to collect another one of his friends from the party and take her home. She had no money for bus or taxi, and her parents were not answering the phone....... got dressed and DS2 and I headed back to the party. His friend was waiting outside in her pyjamas and rather drunk.......we dropped her off at home and waited for someone to answer the door. Just as I was about to take her home with us, the door opened.........She is 16 years old! Why was nobody bothered she was not at home?
NYE
1. Day trip to Blenheim Palace. ( Got half price annual passes when we went to Countryfile Live, in the summer). A very Grand Day Out......although slipped on a muddy path and got very muddy. :rotfl:
2. HM burgers and chips for tea.
3. Watched Baby Driver.
4. Jools Holland Hootenany
5. Super moon.
Best wishes for a happy and prosperous new year. :j0
