  • Well, when you live so far south that another few steps would see you standing in the Solent you're a bit spoiled when it comes to winter temperatures outside, not always we do get cold sometimes but today was really nice! sending you and Haggis puppy nice warm hugs. We met George the whippet when we walked this afternoon, he was so gorgeous and came and 'leaned' on me so I could scratch him behind his floppety soft ears, was wonderful!!! xxx.
  • DD what a lot you have done!

    1. Not done anything on today’s list but not beating myself up - I can do it later. (The things on the list not beat myself up. Isn’t English grammar a minefield!)
    2. Have taken sausages & bacon out of freezer - looking forward to using up the last of the XMas veggies & using a couple of bits out of the Larder.
    3. Yippee - went to put rubbish in wheelie bin & it was at the roadside - EMPTIED as was the Recycling Bin.
    4. Washing up done & Kitchen surfaces clear ready for a baking session.
    5. Stale sm bread & focaccia soaked in hot water & put in the garden for my feathered friends.
    6. Have enjoyed reading the new thread - New Year, New Plans and Hopes. I will have a think and then join in later today.
    7. Just sitting with a cup of tea and psyching myself up for the rest of the day.
    8. Reading all your inspirational posts and realising that there are strong wonderful people who regardless of their own problems still offer comfort to others. THANK YOU ALL.

Positive vibes being sent into the ether.

    Mrs SD :)

Lost my post nos 9 to 12, so try again

    9. Sister was actually cheerful when I phoned this a.m. - usually moaning about something
    10. Homemade bread turned out well
    11. Coconut biccies are delicious
    12. Re 2. Above veggies prepped but tonight’s dinner will be tomorrow’s lunch!

    Positive vibes to all

    Morning,
    New Years Eve Eve!

    1. DD sounding a bit more positive today, as I taxied her from one appointment to another. :o

    2. Managed to spend the last of my WYS vouchers in Mr T and Mr W. More success with bargains and savings in Mr W, but able to use more coupons in Mr T. :D

    3. Complimentary tickets to see Burt Bacharach Magic Moments Concert at Symphony Hall. Really enjoyed it! Makes me realise that he wrote the song track to my youth! (I was worried that it would be the equivalent to spending 3 hours in a lift, but it was fab). We were just about the youngest of The Old Dears at the concert :rotfl:

    4. Rtc spatchcock chicken for tea with lots of veg.

    5. Finished the Crown and watched a few more of the Feud.

Going to Blenheim Castle today, but listening to the wind in the chimney, I’m not sure I want to leave home!

Have a lovely New Years Eve. :)

    1. Warm here about 18 and only went down to 12 overnight. I love the warmth and feel so much better.

    2. Went for a long walk which was good.

    3. Had a meal out in a restaurant which we hadn't tried before and the food was delicious and slightly different to the normal. I had a Thai fish stew. Neither of us had a starter or dessert. The wine was good and the carafe was actually a named wine and at a reasonable price for a restaurant.

    4. Managed to listen to the rugby on the radio. We won convincingly. DAy and three friends had used our season tickets so only needed to buy 2 tickets. Made it a cheaper day for them. Apart from beer prices at Twickenham.

    5. Found time to read a couple of magazines so they don't need to go home. Cut out a couple of useful ideas. Mainly to remind me to do when I got home.

    6. Managed to convince DH that his new jeans don't need shortening as only a tiny fraction too long which is fashionable and they may shrink slightly in the wash!!

Oooh I see, DD - i also was born in 1963 but was only into Dr Who when he was David Tennant

    Pleasures for yesterday

    1. Got 11 assignments marked and 'only' have 14 left. I am aiming for 4 today (already done 2) to leave 10 on my trip to ICT on Tuesday for the day (to clean and tidy and put away decs as we ran out of time on Weds)
    2. Didn't do hoovering or shopping :D Persuaded DD to do the former and get the three things of shopping we "needed" on her way home
    3. Did 3 loads of washing and put it through the tumble drier - i rarely tumble dry but in the interests of self-care decided to make my life a little easier. Everyone had a clean bed :T
    4. watched 2 episodes of the Crown - now on to season 2.
    5. Didn't cook - DD and her friend who is here for a few days ordered in chinese. i can't eat chinese as the MSG makes me ill (had an ill-advised McD's the other day confirming this is still so :(). I had cheese and biscuits, and OH and DS were out all day (their team actually won DD and BoP).

Off to Sister in Law's tonight. can't say I'm looking forward to it much - which probably means it'll be great...

    Happy New Year to All
I wanna be in the room where it happens

    Danke Blackbeard!
Yeah, and for the next part of the conversion, we do not has[STRIKE] sausages[/STRIKE] around here, they are called SNORKERS!

5 Right BoP was inn the emporium this morning and cleared the shelves. Totally cleared the shelves. Snorker 12 pack at £2.50, redistributed! Salmon at 99 pennies, Prawns, king ones, at 69 pennies! Money stays inn the pocket of BoP to be liquidated later! So for brunch is snorker rolls! with toe nail onions. Tum will be rubbed!

4 All bits in for the New Year, BoPsie is ready with her rags of glad. She always enjoys it. No bubbly this yea, just some Jack Daniels! More in the new year later!

3 Good year this one, two trips to the Big Apple and cleared over £23,000 in assets, as well as pensions sat nice at £13,000. First one pays now in less than 50 months! Pocket money for the BoP!

PM2DD Thank goodness Exeter, who scored very late to make sure BoP's double came inn! As for the other things in the footie world, I have deleted the highlights already as unwatched! Even the Honest Men lost! Right grumpy on as well!

    It's out with that!

I've sobbed a lot of today, let me find some pleasing things.

The quickest dog walk ever...it was foul first thing. Wild and windy and wet.

Had to go to tesc0 to top up DD1 phone card. Got some RTC flowers...my aim is not to buy as many next year but it's still this year :)

Church. I sobbed through a lot of that too. But still singing carols.

M&S ...always on a Sunday! 3 bunches of RTC daffodils. Already starting to open in the warmth. My favourite flower and a sign that Spring is just round the corner. A few RTC items for this evenings tea.

All (I think ) Christmas is away. And if it's not it can just go in DD1 wardrobe. She won't be here!

My friend has just popped in with a box of tissues. She'd read my blog where is said I'd only had a raggedy bit of tissue at church. Biggest of hugs. She misses OH too. Her husband was his best friend.

The kindness and friendship on this thread has been such a source of comfort and I'm grateful for another year of sharing and caring. I think I say each year we are just friends who haven't met each other yet!

Wishing you all a good 2018, whatever it brings and that we can continue to share our pleasures and the occasional moan. X
  • I’m going to go on sending out Jenny’s things again this year, so there. You know what you can do if you want one now!

    :heartpuls :heartpuls :heartpuls

And that goes for the rest of you as well!
