Good Morning Peeps,
VJsMum so glad only your sons car was harmed.
Yesterday
DD upset about long distance boyfriend again.Really want to message him with a piece of my mind ......must not interfere).
1. Dog making snow angels. She loves this weather.
2. Made washing ‘Gloop’.
3. Finished making poinsettia poppers for Friday.
4. King prawn Thai laksa for lunch, and snorkers and refried LO roast potatoes with onion gravy for tea.
5. Staying up late, (for us). Watching Xmas TV and working on my quilt.
Still waking up early, but enjoying of the frozen world outside.0 -
Good Morning all, hope you all had a lovely time over Christmas as did we but it's blissful being back home and having our own things and routine again!
1) Grandpickles on Christmas morning opening presents, no matter how big or small, all were met with utter delight!
2) Lovely woodsy walk on Christmas day with the Zebra child zooming ahead on his scooter which he has finally mastered.
3) Wonderful carol service on Boxing day in the Cathedral and DD1 was singing in the choir, it was magical.
4) Lovely James invited us for a cup of tea afterwards and we met his two little lads, much laughing was done, chocolate given and even a picture from the younger one to go on my fridge.
5) Normal routine from here on in, holidays are fab but give me everyday routine any day of the week!
6) It's the Oreo childs first birthday today.....where did the time go?0 -
Surely not already MrsLW Happy Birthday to little Oreo x
Wednesday pleasures,
A lie-in, stretched out by lovely man bringing me cup of tea in bed so could carry on reading, bliss.
Blizzard of snow most of the morning, pleasure was we had nowhere to go apart from the village.
Watching a tiny wren making her way through the bottom of the hedge, tiny, tiny bird. Then a pair of woodpeckers on the bird seed wreath.
Turkey broth for lunch with warm HM bread.
Lovely local garage once again came up trumps, checked over Capt S's car and could find no reason for clunking noise which has now disappeared, not only did they not charge us a penny they dropped it off at home so we didn't have to come out. Service indeed :A

Morning all - posting as a push to start 6 pieces of marking which is my target for today. Then a clean of the bathrooms and then I am going to settle in front of the telly for some catching up of christmas programmes
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Lovely walk in the hills with friends - sun was out though it was nippy. Much needed blow though
2. Finished with a swift half in the pub...
3. The kids had done some cleaning and packing so we could load the car swiftly.
4. We had to visit the wrecked car to take our stuff out of it. Very sobering going to the recovery yard - some very nastily smashed cars and the guy was telling us what happened to the drivers, including many fatalities and para and quadri plegics :eek:This is obviously not a pleasure but the pleasure is that DS is OK and he was shaken when he saw what could have happened. this will be good for him going forward, I hope
5. Nice family take away curry when we got home - even though we still have a fridge full of food.
Have a good day all - come on VJs, get that marking done.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Good morning, another uncomfy night sharing a bed with my daughter....I may have presented it as a good idea they move on to Edinburgh a day early for reasons other than they will get so much more done !
SOMETIMES WHAT SEEMS LIKE A GOOD IDEA JUST DOESN’T PAN OUT!
My dishwasher was unable to drain because the installer hadn't installed properly. As I paid especially for that service I'm not happy. An email will be sent.
WHAT A PAIN
I've taken down my cards. I still send cards and love getting them. It was nice to get special and thoughtful cards this year and that friends had taken the time and effort to source them. I love putting them up but love getting them back down again.:)
Me too - I love sending cards and I really love receiving them. They are the only concession to Christmas decorations!
Today’s pleasures so far:-
1. Couldn’t sleep so up at 7.00 a.m. but nice cup of tea and could concentrate on my knitting.
2. Breakfast at in-laws - Bacon, mini sausages, scrambled eggs, baked beans and toast. Yum yum.
3. No real traffic when we were brought home in a nice warm car.
4. Safely home, and ensconced with a mug of coffee and reading forum threads.
5. Bitterly cold but clear blue sky and brilliant sunshine so much more invigorating than dark skies. If it wasn’t so cold it could almost be a spring day!
6. Thoughts turning to having a blitz clearance of clothes - currently not frightening but may be if I start.
Sending “wellness vibes” to everyone who needs or wants them.
Thanks for ‘listening’

Firstly, TG x 1000 for an intact son, VJsmum.
Dr C. did the same, 9 months after passing his test, and walked away from a total write-off without a scratch. The pic of his car, Wilbur, was on FB for years; a pancaked Peugeot, apart from the drivers' compartment.
Dr C. sometimes gave me a lift to work on a Friday morning, which was when it happened. I would have been killed instantly.
Quick collection.
1. A wonderful 'second Christmas' at DD's. Dr C. had been taken through by his dear friends, (in a very flash Merc!) when I thought he wouldn't be there, it was so lovely to see him, and in good form. Lovely to see my grandchildren too, who are such good young people, I am so proud of them. Proper 'Blue Peter kids', keen Scouts who both have pt jobs outside college/school.
2. Time spent with my grand-dogs. I have missed them so much. If any of you are on Twitter, (I know some are,) my Twitter handle is the same as my username here, (with @ before it) , and Beth, the senior grand-dog, is my Twitter homepage background pic.
She is a most beautiful Springer, still stunning in her old age. Beth remembered me, and although Walter has never got to know me in the same way as Beth did, he consented to loving fussings.
He is actually the cuddlier of the two dogs, but Beth knows how much I love her, and responds accordingly. I know this, because the look in her eyes tells me so. (See Twitter pic as proof).
3. Being at home on Boxing Day when I was suddenly ill with a gastric 'hit'. Thank goodness for listening to my inner voice, that told me that going out might not be the best idea. Now fully recovered.
4. The kindness of the manager at the home next door, and of a taxi driver in helping me to get across sheet ice to and from DDs. I had to use a walker (given by a friend) as my feet were like Bambi's, my trainers have impressive looking ribbed soles, but no grip whatsoever.
5. Festive food glut means cooking is at a minimum, I have a lot more free time as a result.
6. Your pleasures, thank you. Welcome Mrs SD!Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
5 Now I see we has a newbie around inn the parish. Welkommen! Dodger! Good name and we shall has yous on proper foods very shortly. As for the turkeys who shopped at the emporium T. Never buy meat from these places! Go it. Think proper food instead!
4 Talking of proper foods, BoPsie, never one to miss a bar gun, swiped from w8rz cauli's at 9 pence and a soup mix for 19 pence. Bar Guns! The soup mix was bagged as a roast tin mix for turkey! Originally priced at £1.49 for a parsnip, carrot (not fit to lead a donkey!), small swede, and small onion! Turned into chunky veg soup, four servings and added to fresh bread this morning for lunch. Dressing, PROPER FOOD!, Sit back and read about BoP rubbing his tum!
3 That does remind me Mhags about the dishwasher I once bought with my hard earned pennies! Got £20 discount for trading inn the old one. Delivery man quaffed where was the old dishwasher! I said she was inn the lounge! He laughed and I kept the £20!
2 Day BoP checked his pension forecast. Stuffed wallet it is. Championi! Made sense to save years ago! Note, at mill I work with people that are my age and have never saved! Putting another coal on the fire!
The second half of this post was &'d. It now floats inn the ether!0 -
Happy first birthday to young master Oreo ...that was quick coming round.
Lovely, frosty walk with Haggus and his elderly lady friend, though he later met his young lady friend. Both delighted to see each other.
Pottered around.
Made lentil soup. Using up ham and carrots from Christmas Day.
Went to visit my mother . What did you have for Christmas dinner? She asked. Well just as well I didn't come then! Invited each year and chooses to sit on her own each year! Sigh!
Started taking tree down and undecorating. Lounge looking so much bigger already.
Girls made ( a mess) spag Bol. Very nice. DD1 had made a fruit crumble using up some fruit from Christmas Day . Rather stuffed.
Walked down to a friends to return something I'd borrowed. Blooming freezing!0 -
Danke Blackbeard! That is the extent of my German - shameful really as my sister-in-law is German & she, my brother & nephews are all living in Germany. They have hens & there is nothing so tasty as fresh eggs from hens who are fed properly and roam free!
Re proper food - I have a postage stamp garden so no chance of hg veg but if I could get my butt in gear I could grow some herbs as I cook from scratch & hg herbs are wonderful. No butcher or greengrocer where I live so have to make special bus/tube trips to source meat & veg - laziness wins out too often so usually from sm. I promise to try harder in 2018!
I also bake - biscuits & cakes so much nicer homemade.
Not to blow my own trumpet - well just a little - my in-laws reckon my focaccia is nicer than anything they have managed to buy. It takes an age to make what with the double proving but hey-ho it makes me feel warm inside when I get so much approval!
Thanks again for the welcome, Blackbeard.

1 A day to ourselves, healing.
2 DH and I did a tip run with a car full of not so nice things, stopped in at home base and picked up some paint to start on the property.
3 Watched a Pirate? Aardman film which had us both in stitches early in the morning, and just watching the Hogfather.
4 Cooked up a turkey curry packed with turmeric, garlic, and a whole host of greenery.
5 Looking forward to some Christmas pud and brandy butter – delicious.0
