Apologies for return, but this, from dear grauniad seconds ago

Stuck A14 West Bound between junctions 2-3 in Northamptonshire. Haven’t moved for over 3 hours!! #thankgoodnessfornetflix #uksnow #weather

- will be no surprise to fenny persons, such as Lainey and &, her red+bold above.
OK, this time, Tom has not long been and gone, saying 'no/low water pressure' and shown & which knobs to twiddle underneath to 'break cycle when it happens again...which it will'.
He said & shouldn't be having to clamber under and dismantle part of boiler even to see, let alone get at, more blutty ecotech bits.
Has & said how much it is loathed? Multiply by eleventy-numpty-infinity.
Frith, having seen your snow scenes elsewhere, it's absolutely flurrying thickly and horizontally here, where rain has also done same, driving in under coralux corner and much thorough wetting of everything there -:mad::mad: more snarl.:mad::mad:
You have your sons safe under your roof. This is what matters.
& should be Spits prepping. Cannot get to storage to stock-pick, but need to check on state of everything. Will roads even be driveable, let alone safe?...at 2bells-ish tmrw? Then back again?
Take care everyone.
Will now try and communicate with real person to make ferry bkg happen.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

For me first Christmas for 34 years without xoh. Not the same sort of less I know, but strange and a wee bit emotional
Welcome saladdodger great name
1) over 300 for midnight mass. Went with ds, dsgf (autocorrected to dogfight rofl), dd1 and dd2. Dm had got there early and saved a pew
2) Christmas morning and I was first up. Stocking, breakfast and slipped out to church. Was raining so arrived rather soggy. Lovely service
3) got lift home. Pressies to open, lunch to cook. Dd2 total star helping out
4) a silly game of family fortunes then I fell fast asleep on the sofa.
5) Boxing day friends came round with their black lab puppy. Bracing walk, bubble and squeak, bubbles and board games. Perfect
6) and today - left overs, reading, walking dogs repeat. Off to Scrooge this evening with dd1 and dd2.MrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Vjsmum so glad your son is ok, car's can be replaced..
Thank you for the replies on here, there is a comfort in knowing I can vent.
For yesterday
1 We continued with plans, and the in laws were so amazingly kind to us.
2 I think they tried to pickle me with Jack Daniels Honey and it was a great way to go, the fact I couldn’t even count to 15 for our cribbage games by the end of it.
3 They cooked up a full roast and pampered us silly, and we talked freely about DF.
4 I did get tearful at the thought of having to return today, but got through it.
5 We didn’t get back in until 3am this morning, it was a lovely distraction.
For today
1 We sat in 2 hours’ worth of traffic to go back to the house, I was surprised at myself I kept it together, we have a lot of work ahead.
2 Met up with DB there and we put the world to rights for a few hours.
3 We worked through paperwork, we are both executors.
4 I made a few calls to cancel some orders and tell a couple of people, and DH kindly removed some things that would have been to raw to do.
5 Just got back in, the animals welcomed us as long-lost friends, and we cooked up a second leftover meal, this was a swede all remaining veg hash with turkey stuffing and gravy.0 -
1. Have started (and not got very far.....) the big declutter to end all declutters
2. DD gave me £3 for the tin, as reimbursement for a film rental
3. Found 5p whilst clearing out a drawer.
4. Found some Euros to add to the stash I already have. I have plans for them.....
5. I now realise I do not need any more Sharpies! I keep finding them all over the place!!!
6. The Miniaturist
7. Prosecco!
8. Seeing KW tomorrow *swoon*0 -

I saw it on the news about the gone off turkeys. :-(
Pleasures for today (Wednesday??)
1) Got up early to ensure bigger son took a packed lunch with him (working on local estate today). Then went straight back to sleep!
2) Woke at midday when the washing machine man knocked on the door. Washing machine fixed now (3rd man to come out and try).
3) Took smaller son out to spend his Christmas money; he got some new football boots.
4) Tasty tea of burgers.
5) Bigger son is out at a games evening with my brother and brother in law.
6) Smaller son and I have been eating Maltesers.
7) In bed with 2hwb and have just watched First Dates.
Off to Broadway tomorrow to see my school friend (it's about halfway between our 2 houses). A little worried that half of the scenic snow pictures in the Guardian today were taken in Broadway! We've only got 2cm of snow here.0 -

Welcome saladdodger great name.
Thanks for the welcome DundeeDoll.
Wednesday’s OS pleasures
1) lie in until 9.00 a.m.
2) No cooking - brunch with the in-laws & DH in a local cafe & very tasty it was too.
3) being warm in the cafe as heavy snow flurries outside.
4) watching children’s films not seen before whilst DH napped (thankfully with minimum snoring!)
5) Curry & bits cooked by DH’s niece - in attendance great niece & her hubby, niece & hubby, sister & brother in law - lots of laughter & appreciation of good food.
6) DH’s great niece is in ‘the family way’ so great news plus I get to knit some baby clothes but in light wool as expected in July.
7) yippee - Q....ty S....t tin - yummy!

Good morning, another uncomfy night sharing a bed with my daughter....I may have presented it as a good idea they move on to Edinburgh a day early for reasons other than they will get so much more done !
My last couple of days have been spent pottering around house. Trying to clear where I can. When I can. Trying not to be a surly host as I see again a pile of toast crumbs left overnight and jumping up to switch lights left on in empty rooms! One more day and night, I can do this. Lovely girls though!
Moved the 'given a loan , weeks and weeks ago table ' out into garage yesterday, I'd needed it for the hordes. Will be dog walking with that friend this morning so shall arrange to take back to hers. So I moved around my dining furniture, brought through an armchair from living room ( had always been the plan but removers had put it there first and I couldn't man handle it through. Thankful for tall son!
I think I'm caught up on Christmas telly which I just kept sleeping through.
Son has drilled holes in 2 big planters I'd brought back from Oz. obviously more rain here than there and they weren't draining and then had frozen solid. I'm hopeful my bulbs haven't turned to mush! Had to smash the ice on top with a brick...slightly cathartic!
Had leftovers from freezer for tea. I'd bought a microwave last week. Having lived without one for 8 weeks. Decided I really did need one.
My dishwasher was unable to drain because the installer hadn't installed properly. As I paid especially for that service I'm not happy. An email will be sent.
Had a good chat yesterday morning whilst filling the car with cardboard to be recycled. Someone I know was passing by so we are all caught up.
Put away gifts...I was sent 10 packets of napkins from Australian friends.(why?) I have one for every occasion and colour combination! 3 lovely candles but have plenty on the go just now so shall keep them for later date. The chocolates I have been grazingly putting away! And wondering why I have heart burn?. Smellies will be used up too. I was given a 'star' by my children which just made me howl. We bought one for OH last year knowing he didn't have long. This one has been named after us both. I also got a toy kookaburra and lorikeet which make the sounds of the birds as I miss my birds so much. I love them...the dog not so much!
I've taken down my cards. I still send cards and love getting them. It was nice to get special and thoughtful cards this year and that friends had taken the time and effort to source them. I love putting them up but love getting them back down again. I'm going to wait until my Australian contingency have left tomorrow before I take tree down. They're moving on to the Edinburgh leg of their trip with DD1. Otherwise I would be starting to take down today. Again, I love decorating my house for Christmas but want it all back to normal for New Year.
I'm just going to have a peaceful soak in the bath whilst everyone is asleep.
Dog walk with Haggus and his ladies this morning , it's all had and frosty which makes for an easier walk than mud!
Have a lovely day0
