Oh heck VJsmum's DS, relieved he's not hurt, what a horrible thing to happen!!
I've had such a lovely Christmas, only minor irritations
1. DD gave me really thoughtful, gorgeous presents, some of which I'd chosen during the year but had forgotten all about, as I'm training her (and KW) up in the skill of buying a present you know someone will love the moment you see it, not putting it on a mental list for later.
2. She bought me a great new purple purse, and when I jokingly said you should give a purse with a silver coin in it, she scampered upstairs and came down with £5 in £1 coins, then told me to put them into the sealed tin!!
3. It was so lovely and mild yesterday, DD and I walked down to the village church and I got all daydreamy.....and the service was lovely, even if the vicar has got the world's LOUDEST singing voice!
4. Quaffed a fabulous bottle of champagne, not my usual prosecco!
5. Today, DD and I had Christmases number 2 and 3We went over to KW's parents, where he, they and his sister and family were awaiting us. Lots of lovely, thoughtful presents were given, and his nieces loved our offerings
It was the first time DD had met his family, and she really enjoyed how relaxed and fun the day was.
6. Then, back to KW's for the final Christmas - more presents, laughs, Jurassic World and chocolate oranges!!
7. Finding out that KW has taken on another, ginormous, allotment for us! It's kind of my Christmas present, as one half (it's twice the size of our current one I think) is going to be a flower garden or meI'm looking at the cost of dehydrators, as we're going to have a LOT of veggies in the other two half allotments and once we get the house (fingers crossed), we will want to save for all sorts of things, like buying the rest of it off the HA
So, all in all, I'm a happy, chilled-out Kittikins tonight. I don't need to do sales shopping, I have everything I could ever need (apart from a house....but hopefully this time next year, my stress about that will be but a distant memory)0 -
Quick pleasures for today:
1) A lie in!
2) Hens well and enjoyed finishing off the trifle I made on Christmas Eve.
3) Bigger son came home. They are supposed to be at their father's until the 30th but smaller son managed 6 hours and bigger son fewer then 24.
4) Went to my friend's son's 8th birthday party.
5) Pizza for tea with jacket potatoes.
6) 2cm of snow so far and 1 car stuck and revving madly outside our front window...
7) In bed with 2hwb and about to watch 4 Weddings and a Funeral. I remember watching it in our little local cinema and they had put dining chair in rows across the front and up the aisles to fit more people in!0 -
Relief re: various osp sons writ large here.
& includes unmentioned ones.
Having difficulty trying to book ferry. Site msg says 'invalid', despite welcoming & as rpt customer by name. More phoning in a few hrs....

1. Marvellous Crimbo with vicarage family. Terrific food. Superb vin. Mad crazy games and so much laughter. Anyone else play Pass the Bomb? Lovely, evil, frenetic, perfect:-)
2. & took a few bits. The Who Am I? game crackers were a hit too.
3. We had our Heston moment(post passim - emporium rtc of last wk) More madness with the green choc. cabbage+green sprout profiteroles avec lime flavoured cream interiors+hot salt caramel "gravy". Actually tasted decent, despite?/because of? all that.
4. & also provided 1 crimbo cake, drunkenly fed, plus ditto trad. colonial crimbo pudding. Somehow, everyone managed mouthfuls of everything.
5. Down poured the rain when leaving, near minuit. Back at &squat, awaiting kettle boil for hwb, started to clear junk mail...B&Q one was nifty, done up as crimbo card. Have been passing their bumf on to Enzed friends, in case useful during van fit-out, but they have just had Crimbo near Oxford, prior to yurp jaunt. Lucky I DID check it...actually a very handsome gift card from those same Enzed friends! It will certainly see garden room lined out in time for next winter.
Growled at them, but also grateful.

Strange cricket happenings. 2 wickets gone, various commentators' changeovers. Right, Jim Maxwell has just said 284 for 5.

Morning!
Wednesday already, and so little achieved.......mostly slobbing about:rotfl:
Boxing Day
1. DH and I traditionally tackle a DIY project on Boxing Day. DH has decided to declutter this year.:( He has got rid of a pile of papers from the study. I had to go though my bit. We now have a pile of stuff for shredding.
2. DD had a shift serving at the football ground. Gave her a lift, but we were early, so had a coffee at Starbucks. Nice chat. Avoided the fact that she is not speaking to DH.
3. Making poinsettia poppers a la Kirsties Handmade Christmas. Fun, but it has taken ages!
4. Sewed lots of my quilt, as we watched Xmas specials.....Victoria, Dr Who and Call the Midwife.
5. DS2 appeared and we watched ‘Bright’. Bit violent for me, but it was nice to have DS2 company, and a film with Will Smith cannot be bad.
6. Had a wander around Mr A on the way back from dropping DD at work. Got Bubbs Beef, half price Xmas dress, and half price gift set! (Razor set for DS2).
7. YS items when I went for milk and roast potatoes.
8. More roast dinners!
9. Snow.
Have a lovely day0 -
VJsmum glad DS is ok.
1. DS2 went to the races with his friends. Won some money so day including food, drink and taxis was free. His friends study from he has no idea. They stated last night at DS1 house.
2. Went for a walk and was good to get fresh air.
3. Visited MIL only for about 20 minutes. Conversation was short as I isn't answer any questions a second time. I think it may be part dementia but mainly she doesn't listen and starts talking about something else before you have finir. Very rude and she has always been like it.
4. DS1 and girlfriend came round late afternoon for more food- mainly leftovers but with ham and salad too. Had more crackers. Theses were a mixture from previous years so assortment of hats and quality of gifts.
5. Enjoyed sitting, talking and drinking.
Had a good Christmas 2017.
Need to get ready for work now. Only day I'm working.0 -
Vl - I see you also suffer from infuriating autocorrect, but sounds to me as if your mil and vjm's mil should be together in A Room....:-)))

...at which point, & is pretty sure that return of No Heating is now accompanied by No Hot Water.
Snarl.
Am now checking for re-run of sneaky water leaky.
I say again: NEVER touch ecotech Vaillant boiler system with bargepole. Totally untrustworthy. Totally useless. Totally ineffectual.

Re: autocorrect, 'no heating' changed itself to 'no hearing'.
It can go in Room 101 with all things ecotech.CAP[UK]for FREE EXPERT DEBT &BUDGET HELP:

Funny you shoild say that VL and Ampersand, i questioned OH yesterday as to whether he thought that MiL could be getting dementia...
DS is fine but shaken. I wanted him to be shaken a bit to make him think on..
Pleasures for yesterday
1. DS is fine. Thats all that really matters. The car will be replaced. The kids are thrilled about this. We had kept the car, which was rather old, as we thought something like this would happen.
2. OH and i went back home while DS went to the football. Had bacon sandwiches and then a bath with my book. DSs team lost 4-1. Really wasn't his day.
3. Drove back to ICT with DS. He wasn't going to come back before the crash so it was a bonus.
4. Went to cafe bar with friends for an hour
5. Yummy boxing day leftovers dinner.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Glad to read that DS is ok after his prang VJ
Gggrr on water and heating & but pleased to read about superb crimbo.
