    2) lovely lovely midnight mass. I was in a draft so my candle only just made it to the end
    3) prepped the veg to 9 lessons from kings
    4) wrote and delivered local cards
    5) morning service - wow was that the same day. I was a king in the nativity.
On the way to church saw seagulls dancing for worms. It made me smile (but then i’m not a worm)

Listening to the tortuous Dombey and Son, while saying a Merry Christmas to you, too, DD.

Now, you two, it's a 1hwb night with the wind chilling and rising.

I'm guessing you had wonderful music tonight, too, DD.

    Happy Christmas Morning:)

    Yesterday,

    1. First solo drive in ‘Darth Leaf’, the new car.

    2. Last bit of shopping was not too busy or too expensive.

    3. Christmas Eve film was ‘Paddington 2’. So many pleasures all in one. Thank you Michael Bond...... A tear May have been shed too...... A rare sequel which is as good as the first.

    4. Buffet tea at friends house. Chatter and games.

    5. Home at 9pm to finish wrapping presents...... Children are now too big to have stockings, but I seem to have accumulated lots of ticky tacky for them over the year, then it all has to be fair...... so once again, they have ended up with a small mountain of gift sets, underwear and night wear etc.

    6. Woken up at 5am, by DS1 coming in from work. Sounded like he was full of The Christmas Spirit! Got up when he went to bed, and have made a start on the food preparations. :j Having a sit down now, as need to use the food processor, and it’s a bit noisy!

    7. Very quiet, for central Birmingham. Only spoilt by the dog snoring. :rotfl:

    Merry Christmas 🎄

LainyT- made me think back to very hot, sunny day at Wembly.
Frith - the presents must look so festive even if noisy.

    1. Went to London again- train were all on time. Going up a woman conductor doing a great job and ensuring everyone knew when the last train back was and going out of her way to be helpful but all done in a quiet unassuming manner.

    2. Met friend and had a lovely lunch and then we went to the theatre to see The play that goes wrong. It was good and very funny. It is a Christmas tradition to meet the friend and go and see a show. Initially we met him the Wednesday before Christmas for a meal after he had been to a matinee with his mum and the boys were too young to go to theatre. After friends Mum died he has come to us for Christmas so we meet in London on Christmas eve for a show and then he comes and stays.

    3. Home and had shepherds pie followed by apple crumble which I had prepared before we left. The table looked lovely set for Christmas with all the candles lit.

    4. Watched The Crown on Netflix enjoyed by everyone. May have had the odd glass of wine.

    5. Message from a friend which touched me with thoughtfulness.

    Sulk!

    5 No train set either!

4 xmas dinner we have stuffed the turkey and are instead having four snorker with rosemary roasted tatties and stuffing. Chopped leek, swede and carrot mash. Pan gravy with onions.

3 Opened pressies this morning and no socks again!.

I have managed again to do ...

2 Chrimbo cake has been broken and it is well hot with whiskey and orange. A glow is on BoPsie's face!
  • Almost with comedic timing, my dad passed away over Chritmas eve night. While I am very sad, I also feel and know he has found peace during this festive time.

I will be raising a glass to him over Christmas lunch, and thanking the people and kindnes of strangers who were working over the early hours of Christmas morning that I never thought I would have to call upon.
  • So very sorry for your loss xxx
