Just lost a post. My fault for having to mess with the function keys as the laptop mouse had disappeared.
1) Good sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Baking.
4) New downhill neighbours!
5) Phoned school friend.
6) Will watch Casualty in a minute.12 -
For yesterday,
A welcome lie-in, the blooming cold has left me with a cough which is a real sleep disturber.
To the feed store for some chaff and then over to see my pony, she seemed a bit more comfortable but fed up with being in.
On the sofa with my book after lunch and next thing I know it was nearly 4 o’clock.
Listened to the second half of footie and wish we hadn’t bothered ( down to 10 men and heavy loss ) then took small dog for a walk. The hedgerows are in gorgeous autumnal colours.
Easy tea of baked spuds with cheese and lo coleslaw, watched a programme about 80’s music then had a couple of games of Yahtzee.

Pleasures for today:
1. DH got up with tot and left me sleeping until 8, which was marvellous
2. Griddled vine tomatoes on sourdough for breakfast, with lashings of extra virgin olive oil
3. Got a fair amount of housework done
4. DD got her first Pfizer covid vaccine today 🥳🥳🥳
5. Nice supper and DH is cleaning the kitchen so I'm going to light some candles and put my feet up with a book
Missed out my one displeasure which was popping into Mr Ts to get tot new shoes and Halloween costume for parties this week and came out having spent £48! Got shoes for this size and next size up, 4 tops and one pair of jogging bottoms and some cat ears - idea being I'll send him dressed in black with cat ears and draw on whiskers then have some clothes he can wear all year - but was really only expecting to spend £20 or so! Nevermind, I have funds in the Keeping the Kids Alive pot.
Hope you all had a lovely weekend!12 -
Not my normal Sunday as still haven't finished draft 1 of this darn application. oh well, let's find 5 mse pleasures
1) church online - really enjoyed seeing them all and meant i could work right up to 10:30 then pick up again straight after the service
2) also meant I knocked back my bread and made some rosemary and flaked salt crackers during the sermon
3) and got out for short breaks including getting my washing out (it was so warm here), two short walks with the boys, mowing the lawn, refilling the bird feeders and getting my bins out so legs didn't seize up totally
4) mum came round and we went to Mr T - Mr T chick peas are 55p a tin, ones from their 'efnic' bit were 3 for £1 (coconut milk was also 25p off). mum stayed for a coffee and admired my latest loaf (delicious) and tried the crackers (think they need cooking for a bit longer at a lower heat as slightly chewy - lovely taste though)
5) and now have Carol Decker's 70s Rock Gods on while I do a quick up-date for you. Realising I have to be in by 8am tomorrow - this programme finishes at 9:05 so going to work till then, put the kettle on, short walk with the boys, cuppa and bedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Barry cat was not enjoying the rain so he deigned to stand just in the house for half an hour. I had to prop the door open with a shoe for him to do that, which wasn't very warming!
4) House quite clean and tidy.
5) Watched a bit of Top Gear.
6) I made curry for tea (frozen, from one of our Curry Secret big batches) and made cauliflower cheese for smaller son, with plenty left for tomorrow.
7) In bed with a cup of tea and 1 hwb and waiting to see if the Ranganation is a repeat or not.
8) Have been vaguely trying to find out a bit more about the museum I might be a mentor for.12 -
Pleasures for today:
Decorating finished and it looks good, not perfect but good.
Now waiting for the carpets on the 4th when we can move back into the lounge and stop catching my feet on the stair treads ☹️ and curtains on the 16th.
I’ve been painting my orangey pine bookcase with furniture paint. It’s supposed to be pale grey but is more whiteish. If it looks good there’s lots of other pine furniture to do!
I also silvered 2 mirrors and the fire surround to go with the new decor, they look good.
Real Escape to the Chateau Angel mode (not my usual thing) and enjoyed watching the programme tonight.
Gammon, pineapple, roasties, cauliflower cheese and veg for dinner, followed by hot mince pies and ice cream 😋
night all 💤12 -
Good morning. It’s a rainy start to the day here, Sunday was a day at work which went past quickly enough. I’d thought the clocks went back ( as they usually do around this weekend ) and kept waiting for it to be lighter then I’d a google and its next weekend! Hmmm!Anyway work was worked I’d good company in the kitchen which makes a difference, tips were okay and we got out really sharply which also makes a difference…everyone else had places to be which gave them a spur on!Very quiet evening.Anyway another day another dollar today ! Have a good day 😊12

For yesterday,
Woke with coughing and got up quick so as not to disturb Capt S, still very dark but made a cuppa and enjoyed small dog cuddles.
Quiet day at home, I just pottered around tidying and putting away.
Tasty lunch, duck in orange sauce with veg followed by cherry & almond tart plus ice-cream.
Caught up with tv programmes inc the last All Creatures Great & Small, already looking forward to the festive special.

Online/notspot bleughh critical, since yesterday, so another trip to MrT mob.a&e today, but will try. So many osps posted+lost, but onward now with 5 new and a few catch-ups.
1. Slow o/n rise, shaped 2nd rise at 6 bells, in at 7, out at 8, clean hollow taps to bases.🙂. Okay, j'espère - usual whatever extras+use-ups, inc.h-g walnuts. 1st slice taste after these osps, if only they stay posted🙏
2. Extraordinary rugby weekend. Start with home thoughts from abroad. ABs 142 - USA 14, but first ever tries for USA against us, so👏. Then &'s Hawkes Bay Magpies 41 - Waikato 14, Ranfurly Shield🖤🤍❤! C'mon the Bay!
3......then, Club's clean sweep, with some amazing scores. Our superwomen Ladies' 1sts, 73-10! with that winning margin eclipsed by yesterday's sunny afternoon 71-5, from Ladies' Nomads (2nd team, all new to rugby) gaining their first League points! All our men avenged or bettered last week's horror stories and 1st League defeats.
3a......Home matches are now &'s big Raffle 'Bully,Cosh&Bludgeon' days, as announced by & to every accosted soul😁. All done, taken with great heart and terrific support. &'s performance art selling+varying peacock dressing each time is now accepted theatre - after only 3 outings,😁. Excellent, changing prizes help. But it's also a huge non-stop big effort day, 12hrs+. Results are apparently big £££multiples up.
4. 🙏 please, for 2 little chaps born at 28wks, to &'s old NZ schoolfriend's daughter...... She's a lovely young woman, the daughter &'s schoolfriend never expected to have.
5. Many walnuts to gather after latest strong winds. Tomatoes still ripening slowly. Raspberries keep coming. Ooh, just realise I haven't checked grapes for ages....could be they've already been vendanged by various nibblers and beaks. On verra.
6. 2 wonderful 'friend' graduate osps. W, 1st XV player, courageously left Harare and Jo'burg Uni offer - remarkable enough - to make his teen way alone, determined to reach Cambridge - LLM, International Commercial Jurisprudence ❤. Friend+vol.colleague's son, 1st class Honours+2 national awards!
7. Incredible recent moons, also Venus and zooming bats, recent fixtures over rugby pitch.
8. Our benefice and all around, involved, cared about. So strong over last year.
9. Absolute osp. Tip run booked for next Saturday - time to farewell courgette triffids at last, and much else.
Mow, chop, prune, shear - bigtime. Raspberries are flowering again.
10. Very special was seeing prayed for person easing back in on Saturday, months after surgery, a formerly trim, fit man slowly regaining many lost kgs. So, so good. &'s silver/lapis 'book' pendant now loaned, being worn until next home match, DG. Love it, with Lord's Prayer finely engraved verso.11. A riverside walking and mending afternoon. Saved beloved Aotearoa possum+merino waistcoast, floppy large+pockets, fabulous NZ find, discovered😱🤬😖multi-nibbled+grazed by blutty moths, despite.....
& determined, satisfactory Done🤨. Brighter red than shown, like &'s newly debadgered hair, with reinstated 🟥streak, at last. Hooray!#
&, stop!

Wishing everyone well and safe, with whatever courage and endurance may be needed.
DD - did ask, is your new Peter May 'Lockdown'? & has it from church book swap pew, always good hunting there👌. Next read for &.
