Pleasures......
Two days in a row where there has been blue sky and sunshine.
A gorgeous Full Moon on Wednesday, set in a clear and starry sky.
Two loads of washing dried outside instead of using the dryer.
Dog making friends with a six month old German Shepherd puppy.
Picking up useful tip from another dog owner - instead of giving dog dental sticks to chew, give chunks of frozen carrot. Lower in fat and calories, cheaper, healthier, and cleans the dog's teeth just as well.
Son received a good job offer, which he has accepted.
Meal planning and using up leftovers to create nice meals.
Watching reruns of old shows on catch up TV, Britbox and Netflix.
Starting my annual re-read of Merry Midwinter. One life - your life - live it!13 -
Hello. It’s been another nice day here. Mostly dry through the day and bright skies ( occasional showers)
oooft at the alarm clock this morning, 2.5 hours of early work.home and walked as far as the letter box and back.Watched All Creatures. Sigh. It’s just such lovely telly!Went to mums, got her all sorted and out we went! Oooft! Then back to face the kitchen which I should have went into on Tuesday…wouldn’t have felt so bad today!Home and hello doggy. We went a nice long walk. Then DD2 was in from work and we went a walk round our woodlands, went backwards today. Went the opposite way to the way we would normally. Slight altercation with some wee nyaffs who were behaving like idiots in the play park. I just couldn’t keep my mouth shut…which isn’t t like me as I don’t like confrontation but I also don’t like wanton bad behaviour and destruction. Reported it to a member of staff.Chicken for tea…the red cabbage is finally finished! Hurrah!Fire on and just relaxed ( zzzzz)
alarm set for silly o’clock!12 -
1-500 I have kitchen electrics after 3 years!!!!!!
2 The house is clean again for 5 mins.
3 My 20 year old car sailed through the mot with no advisories, I am very impressed.
4 Used up various things to create a chicken risotto thing. We just popped out this evening to Lidl and they didn’t have anything we needed, but they had just marked a lot of meat down to 70p, a whole chicken, various bits of chicken, pork shoulder and a few packs of mince all portioned up and snaffled away.

Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) A lie in after the builder sent me a message to say he couldn't fit my work in today after all.
2) Hens OK.
3) Felt a bit better today. I've felt dizzy and sick for 2 weeks. Cleaned some of the windows downstairs, did a bit of dusting and hoovered and steamed the floors.
4) Did my online invigilator training so I can do some work at GCSE mock time in a couple of weeks.
5) Quidco paid out.
6) Chips from the van for tea.
7) In bed and have watched Have I Got News For You and will watch the Last Leg just now.12 -
For yesterday,
The window cleaner came and that’s that done for a couple of months, although it did mean that all the marks on the inside were shown up so that’s on my list for next week.
Met lovely farrier over at the yard, he spent a long time looking at my girlie’s foot but couldn’t find any sign of an abscess etc, bless him, he wouldn’t take anything in the way of payment. It does however mean that the vets will have to start with x-rays to try and work out what’s wrong, 3 professionals so far and all stumped!
Bit low about it all tbh so had a long chat with my bf.
Easy tea of pizza & salad.
Clean sheets and reading in bed.

From Kitchen electrics to boiled cabbage leftovers!
Part Deux!15-60 Part 2
After mumps and all that, cannot remember when I had my tonsils out so I could be wrong here, but out they came! That was the singing career over in a stroke! But I progressed musically from the triangle to the wooden block! I them beat!
Had field trips and days away now, with the BB to camp. Found magnets and magnetrons to play with, and iron filings and bits of wood! Soon at 14 got on to the college scheme for apprentices and had two days out of skool. We turned up with moistness behind the ears at the Technical College for half past 9 o'clock, thinking this was the life, to be told by the lecturer that from the morning, college will start at eight o'clock!
Test pieces soon followed the iron filings!
Though getting into college had its advantages that came later! See I do like ...
Mother tried to feed me broad beans and treacle sponge! Always served this with boiled bacon! As I did not eat the bored beans it was not a punishment to miss out on the pud!
Saw my first championship season as Grimsby would FBL 4!
Crashed more than one push bike and knees were grazed!
Film: The Sting
Song: Far Far Away
Radio: Sport on Two
TV: America: A Personal History of the United States
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!10 -
PK I'm intrigued - how did you cope for three years without electricity there?!
My pleasures for yesterday:
1. Good day at work. Got loads of support for my promotion case
2. Girl at work brought me in two pairs maternity jeans and two maternity dresses. Wearing some of the jeans now and they fit like a dream
3. Yummy vegan hot breakfast at work, subsidised so only cost £2 including a vegan cupcake
4. Fake away dinner of homemade deep fried chips and things. Everyone happy and full
5. Book club. We didn't leave until 11.30 so for home at 12am. Good to have a natter and the next book will be one DH bought me for by birthday, a John Boyne (I love him!!)

For yesterday
1) A rest day from the uni as a thankyou for all our hard work (though i have an application to get in pooey)
2) hm parsnip and apple soup - amazing - the secret the author said was to marinade finely chopped rosemary and garlic cloves in 2 tbsp olive oil - didn't have any fresh rosemary but remembered a public path where there is some - took secateurs
3) then Dune with colleague - fabulous (and pretty empty cinema, we wore our masks throughout)
4) chickpea tikka masa for tea (the admiral won't approve!)
5) then book club in someone's house - first time since you know what - new neighbour was invited to join us at 9 in case anyone was uncomfortable with a young mum with 3 school children attending - they weren't and it was a lovely way to meet her
and for today
1) despite late night sprung out of bed, chickpea tikka for breakfast (made rather a lot!)
2) bath and another few chapters of my book
3) guess what i had for lunch...
4) gbf came round and we walked the dogs then he took dd2 to the train station (though sadly train cancelled, they've put her in a taxi to edinburgh, goodness, hope she makes it ok to Liverpool!)
5) last of the tikka and rice for tea in front of All Creatures Great and Small - goodness i thought I was only 2 behind - 5 minutes into episode 5 and realised I had missed episode 4. Fire on, fairy lights on, candle lit, and that's my evening sortedMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

MandM90, It drove me nuts, basically an extension lead provided 4 plug in points from the hallway all the way across the floor. The oven, microwave etc is all properly plumbed in so to speak, but no general plugs at all after DH injured himself at the same time as the kitchen upgrade a few years ago
1 A bit of a lazy day really, I got up to attend a self defence zoom workshop, but it was postponed, ended up watching a film version of Bless this House with Sid James.
2 Yesterdays rtc chicken cooked up with oven chips and salad.
3 DH walked about on the part of the roof that is losely speaking accessible, de mossing it, I kept an eye from the sensible ground. He left all of the main roof thankfully as I think I might have had heart failure first.
4 Birds on the feeders.
