Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Smaller son still ill so left him sleeping and did a very quick early drive to Hereford. Managed to do all charity shops and have a cup of tea with just an hour of parking on the car! I've got very short of clothes during the pay-the-mortgage-off years (as in - no coat and just one pair of trousers left) so am looking round a bit now. Found a decent coat for £10 that has already been through the washing machine and is drying now. Also a brand new Seasalt top.
2) Hens OK.
3) Rained ALL DAY so fired up the central heating (the novelty!) and dried the washing on the radiators.
4) Fishfinger sandwiches for tea as smaller son ill and I'm not quite at full fitness.
5) Watched television all evening.12 -
1. Work over for the day.
2. Spoke with DS2 on the phone.
3. Watched Only Connect.
4. Read more of my book.
5. Early night as feeling not great.12 -
Tests done here as well DD, all negative but this is a nasty old cold for sure.
Fab photos all.
For yesterday,
Had organised a food delivery when started to feel rough on Saturday so at least we have plenty of fresh f&v inc lemons for hot drinks.
The Postie then came with a parcel, the Cornmillers Guild Book of Recipes so an enjoyable hour or so looking at and planning for.
Washing dried outside before the rain came over.
Snuggled on the sofa with small dog.
We both went to bed with expectorant rubbed into our throats, reminded me of my DM who would also do the soles of our feet, no idea why.

1. Survived a day of: day job in morning, prepping supper and lunch for an hour then afternoon 'annual leave' (doing side gig!) Pooped!
2. DH slept with little tot last night so I could get a good night's sleep. He left our bed around 11 and I didn't even notice. Bliss. I love that man!
3. Made homemade mushroom soup for lunch and cooked up some part baked rolls. Very delicious.
4. House was pretty warm today. Sun strong here in Northern Ireland and I only popped heating on for an hour in the evening. It's comfortable tonight.
5. Bittersweet, feeling lucky...listening to a radio 4 segment this evening about UC dropping and a single mum talking about how she will struggle and I felt simultaneously incredibly privileged and very sad. I need to figure out what I can do locally to help. I'm really worried for the vulnerable in our society in these coming months and years.

A day of beds!A bed to be dismantled in my room. And an emotional attachment to it as it was our bed. Bought when children were small and still all pile in when they are here together. Anyway it’s being picked up by someone local tomorrow. Currently downstairs near the front door. Then DD2’s bed going into DD1 room ( spare room should we have guests) to be redecorated soon. But it now has a bed in it.Then the new beds came. Mine was relatively easy to put together, all kind of slotted together. Mallard green in colour. And very comfy. However DD2 new bed, holy moly! We started. We gave up. We did a bit more. We stopped for tea. We then recommenced. Anyway did as much as we can, will be contacting the shop tomorrow as bits missing but she’s in it!She’s full of snots and sore throat but Covid test was negative. So just a stinky cold. Anyway she has languished on the sofa with the dog when we’ve not been making beds.Made a stir fry for dinner. We had leftover birthday cake for lunch.Had an email today. Son has been handed notice to leave flat ( has 6 months notice ) as it’s going up for sale and estate agent just wondering if I’d like to buy it? Er…no! ( I’m the guarantor) replied that no, I’m not in a position to buy it! I suppose they are just doing their job and trying to get a sale but really?
Had a set of curtains in the airing cupboard that are now in the lounge. Been bare windows over summer. Which I like as it brings the garden nearer. However it’s getting colder in the mornings and evenings, would have been a charity shop find but I can’t remember when!
It’s been a nice day. Stayed dry and got washing dried outside.13 -
Evening all
1 chatting to DGD via WhatsApp,she’s really settled and happy ,says she’s not spending as much on food as she thought she would ,has joined the board games club and the Women in Business club !
2 met some old friends for lunch ,much reminiscing.
3 not sure if this is a pleasure ,but getting ready for my weekend away to Llandudno, really don’t want to go now ,but need to bite the bullet or might never do it .
4 had the huge Laurel hedge cut ,it needs doing every year ,but didn’t get done last year ,will shortly declutter a lot of money but needs must .
5 DH won £25 on Ernie this month ,that’s £150 since he died ,he’d be so pleased ,it will be added to his holding when I finally persuade them to hand it over ( still awaiting probate ,now with the probate office but no idea how long for —COVID !, )11 -
Last few shots of our beloved cottage and sea at Cadgwith Cove before setting off for home yesterday morning. Felt quite sad to be leaving after 11 wonderful days and not sure if we’ll be there next year as although we’ve reserved it for a week in September, it’s not been confirmed as some renovation work is being planned.
A good journey home despite torrential rain, particularly over Bodmin Moor, we could barely see in front of us.
Arrived home and felt a bit upset as the decorating has not progressed any where near as far I hoped. I had the same thing when I had kitchen and bathroom done but the builders do a good job and I trust them when we are away, so I have to go with the (very) slow flow.
Also not helped that my son had literally dumped 2 weeks of washing, camping gear, mattress etc in what is still his tiny bedroom, although he doesn’t actually live here! Also left the new shower and the new kitchen sink dirty. So what with a very dusty house and no lounge to sit in, I was a tad fed up!
A takeaway kebab and early night after I had done some cleaning, unpacking and put the first wash load on. Nice to back in my own bed with a new bedroom door that actually closes (I’ve lived here for 26 years and the previous one never did 🤣).
Awake at 3 to hear the lashing rain and not much sleep after that. Still, more washing and sorting done and a little progress on the work, new chrome light switches and sockets fitted. It’s going to be a long job! Carpet ordered, car tax paid, friend popped in.
Easy dinner of chicken Kiev, new pots and veg.
Hope the poorlies feel better soon.
Night all 😊💤

Good morning. It's not raining!
Thank you for the photos everyone. Even your rainy ones,&
Yoga again and starting to feel a bit stronger. I was finding it hard after almost 2 months off, but happy to be getting back into it now.
Supermarket yesterday and no noticeable gaps on the shelves.
DS and DDiL back from a mini break in Spain. Was very interested to hear about their airport/ flight experience. Doesn't sound much different from normal so will continue considering holidays.
Delighted to find I can have my booster jab at our local shopping centre walk in clinic. For the first two I had to go to the next town, about 10 miles away with dreadful parking. I'm about 2 weeks away from eligible, but that's where I shall go.
Oh, and now it's sunny
Happy 🌞day everyone

Likewise Paulie, I’ve been holidaying vicariously through you, we love Cornwall.
Cant believe that Ernie still not sorted for you SSue but lovely to hear that DGD settling in well.
For yesterday, hard to find pleasures as still feeling so rough, holding tight to the 3 days coming, 3 days here, 3 days going rule as meant to be meeting up with friends on Saturday 🤞
Spent most of the day snuggled on sofa with small dog who can’t believe her luck that Mum is sitting still for so long.
Did stir my stumps long enough to make a loaf and a batch of cheese scones so we had warm ones for lunch.
More Darling Buds of May, am wondering how the new version will compare as when I read the books those are the voices in my head iyswim.
Easy tea of baked potatoes with cheesy beans.
Did watch GBBO but couldn’t make Silent Witness and drifted off to bed in a haze of Vicks!
