No Tony Robinson here! Too simpering and used to prance around trenches in a way no that archaeologist in real life would tolerate!
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Woken at some ungodly hour by my sister (one of those strange early risers). We went out for breakfast.
2) Hens OK.
3) Painted the bathroom, but I'm not happy with it.
4) Had a chat with the men next door who have removed their front window. They have the new one but it is boarded up for now.
5) Chips from the van for tea.
6) Drove my parents to my sister's (they can't see well enough to drive in the dark now. Actually, my mum can't see well enough to drive at all). They all went out for dinner while I babysat.
7) In bed and will listen to a podcast.12 -
For yesterday,
Capt S had the day off so slow start to the day although we did have to get his car into the village garage for its MOT at 10am.
Changed the bed and made some sultana scones.
The big car didn’t need anything done to pass although there was an advisory on brakes for next service, it only did three thousand miles last year.
We are late to it but watched the first two episodes of Vigil, good stuff although as someone whose claustrophobic I did find it a tad eeek!
It was a nice evening so quick walk around the fields, there was talk of fish & chips for tea but in the end we couldn’t be bothered to go out and had beans on toast instead.

Oh Lainey if you're claustrophobic worse is to come but it really was very well done and worth seeing through!10

1. Went on a foraging course which DH had given me for my birthday. It was a good day. Informative and entertaining. Met some nice people.
2. Stayed mainly dry. The torrential downpour was for the drive there and back home which was a relief.
3. Went on a 3 hour walk whilst foraging. Collected burdock root, common hogweed, wild sorrel, mushrooms and nettles amongst other things. It was a lovely walk in an area I hadn't walked in before.
4. Had lunch and then the food we had foraged was cooked simply and we tasted it. It was good seeing different people and talking to them all.
5.Started Christmas shopping. I ordered some candles from a small business that is local.10 -
Last couple of days in Cornwall (we are here for 11 days, home on Monday) and after rain all day on Thursday, it was beautiful yesterday. So we saw lots of boats going out fishing, had a cooked breakfast and then we headed out. What a great day we had: Pendeen light house and then onto Levant mine, superb views from both. Then on to cape Cornwall, absolutely stunning and worth the slog to the top for the view. We watched a kestrel hovering and swooping at the top and could easily see Lands End and Longship Lighthouse. We then drove on to Sennen Cove and had a pasty overlooking the sea. Next stop was Porthcurno Beach which we had seen from above last year at the Minack Theatre and had reminded me of a Greek Island beach 😊 it was truly beautiful although the sea was too rough and cold for us to go in. The next stop was the tiny fishing village at Penberth which we had seen on Michael Portillo’s programme last week - very pretty.
We topped the day off with dinner at the Cadgwith Cove Inn , seafood 🦞 chowder for me and another steak 🥩 for OH. The Cadgwith singers were there, so a good time 😊
Wet and windy today so no boats. Won’t be going far, hopefully get to the local farm shop for fish 🐟 to cook.
Have a great Saturday despite the weather 😊9 -
Paulie! Has you seen any Pirates?
Mr Robinson!!! Gave up when he got a JCB in!
Sultana Scones, pronounces Gones! Aubergine chilli! Spinach! Now on ship we do like a good spinach omelette!
Just a gent nudge for the cake and pud there PK!
Anchor is chained!
Got the first of the month freebies yesterday! New one from paper, on chili! Lined up The Watch on it! Very good Sci-Fi comedy with Ben and Vince! Firey Fizzy Water and cheeses were consumed!
Empress has adopted her winter mode and now sleeps indoors instead of on her patio in the sun! Talking of winter mode, the CH that sparked into life on Thursday night, has not been on since!
On that note, I see that Sergie is still missing and now the uswtch has stopped offering! Bit missing at the start of this as I forgot my password, but I was lucky to get a deal at the start of September. The Admiral will keep watch on this for you!
Checked the car as we has a run off again on Monday! The reason the Admiral is here. Details soon!
Had bangers and best back, with mushrooms, saute tomato and poached egg for breakfast this morning, with tea! Very good for you!
Watching the Aussie cricket on the box of oggle!
That is all for now!
Keep Safe!I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!8 -

1. My parents treated me to a lovely hot chocolate today (so nice to catch up in a cafe).2. Made some beautiful curried carrot and parsnip soup with leftover homemade chicken stock, half a red onion, 2 carrots and 2 parsnips and a load of seasonings and enjoyed it with some homemade fresh bread (made in a bread maker I picked up in a charity shop when the first lockdown lifted for £15) - delicious and cheap lunch on a cold, miserable day.3. Picked up two little presents for Xmas, one was a fiver for oven gloves with cats on them and the other was 99p for a humorous mug.
4. Wore my new-to-me vintage trench coat I picked up secondhand online for the first time today. St. Michael’s, 100% wool. Very warm. My dad nearly fell over when I told him I got it for £6.50. It’s a beautiful coat.5. Discovered that a film we wanted to watch at the cinema has been put onto one of the streaming services we pay for and can be watched for free - enjoying that curled on the sofa with OH and dog to keep warm.12 -
1. Grateful for our NHS. DH developed a nasty infection overnight, urgent care managed to sort us out with amoxicillin. Prescriptions are free for everyone here so after paying for years it's been weird to have pills just handed over!! Was an hour round trip to the hospital for me but I listened to Sally Rooney's latest book free on BBC sounds there and back and the county down villages were quite picturesque in the dark.
2. DD's granny sent through £300 speedily to cover what I spent getting her to Glasgow for a wedding in November. DD tried on one of my dresses and loves it so that's the outfit sorted too, at no cost to us. Her great granny has sent £50 towards an outfit so she's going to use it for a nice cardi/coat or accessories. Result!
3. The Vinted bundle I bought for £17 fits well and is good quality stuff. I got 2 pairs of leggings, 2 dresses and a top delivered for the last three months of pregnancy. I will try and sell it all on after if in decent shape still.
4. Found a christmassy tin in the garage. Forgot I had it and was going to get a new one but now I have something to house the Christmas cake I'm planning on making next weekend.
5. Got some 'prepping for winter' things checked off. Checked oil and coolant in car and booked chimney sweep. We have 5 fireplaces so it'll be pricey but I've set money aside.11
