Good morning - though cold, dark and drizzly here
Procrastinator - cake makes most things better. Hoping for a good day today.
D Doll - I seem to remember DH buying me chips many moons ago , when I first knew him, and look what that led to.
Went to garden centre yesterday with my friend. It's full of Christmas decorations! She's quite fed up, understandably as there have been lots of problems, but it meant it was quite heavy going. Oh well. We all have those days!
Made a proper dinner with pork chops, veg and gravy. Just right for the grey day.
Watched YouTube about how to make cloth pumpkins. Will have a go with DGD today.
Happy drizzly day everyone11 -
1. Work was ok. Managed to leave on time.
2. Caught bus to work and had free lunch so money saved and only petrol to bus stop.
3. Easy tea from freezer.
4. Watched the gardening programme with Charlie Dimmock too with a blanket for warmth.
5. Reading mire of my book.11 -
Right, just posted huge catch-up, with pic.
All present and correct, posted, visible, then a stutter.
Refresh.
Disappeared.
BUT, have double held it all in different Notes, so hopefully retrievable.....
On verra.

Meeting family members and a gift of chips, do we have an OS romance here ☺️
For yesterday,
Over at the yard and saw my friend whose horse was poorly a while back, he is slowly coming back into work and seems much better.
The beautiful grey one had been rolling so my job was mainly removing dust and dirt.
Grim afternoon so watched the festive conclusion to the first series of All Creatures etc, must admit am ever so slightly addicted!
Out for a meal with our friend, he’s had a tough six months and it was good to see him. We met in his local and the food was good pub grub, I had beef casserole in giant Yorkshire pud followed by honeycomb cheesecake, stuffed!
Home and sat up for a while to have cuddles with small dog.12 -
Here we go:
Good morning dear ospers all.
I think I finally caught up with pleasure reading late last night, a pleasure in itself, long aware though I am of individual struggles and losses.
I called them all in, during our quiet moments at midweek Communion yesterday. This reflective then chatty service is a lit.+fig. Godsend for many. A good sing is good for the soul too.😇
Walloping Welcomes back to notable returnees and greetings to that old newbie Admiral😉. Glad Ms Kitty HotPaws has transmuted well to Empress-at-Sea and Of All Whom She Surveys, especially her human slavies.🤭#
& is increasingly snowed under by busy times and various outreach matters, but pleasures? Yes. Many historic in osper terms, but 2 immediately.......
1. ......being that & has just fixed her fridge-freezer, DG. 😇😘👏🤞 For 2 days, top half/fridge was belching very warm air. Much melted/turned wastage ensued🤬. Read widely. Consulted the Tube. En bref, unplugged it overnight. Just now, snaked it a foot forward by degrees. Whacked back fan base cover.
Ça marche! Jubilation! All back in. Relief, relief, relief!.....and that's the short version.😁
2. An equal Mafeking moment, or 90....🙄 Fuel! That's been a 3-dayer. Nothing in Town of Horse(mtgs) or Town of Gown(more mtgs) through Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday>yesterday late afternoon, during which time, little orange lighty was expected any, any, any second. MOT with Fenboys next Tuesday (re-insured Monday via Martin's clever jimped through hoops, £151.84 - better than feared, 2007 Meriva)...that's up to 30 miles away.
Consulted a lovely lady taxi driver at empty BP near The Gallops, Lainey.
Thought they must be knowledgeable. 'Tesco', said she. 'Go now. There's a tanker in and another one around 2am.' She was right! Huge well-marshalled queue switchbacks through the carpark, but eventually.....and full tank, 'cos who knows?
This is all filthy Johnson's berxhsit, like so much else.🤬😈👹👿😡
3. Lighten up &. Well certainly feel so, with osps 1 and 2. Person who was so long in hospital, out 48hrs then in again, is now a week home, gaining weight! Possibly attending Saturday's 🏉matches which, although amazing, must be hawkishly watched.
4. The trad. September birthday lunch, using &'s MrT vouchers, with oldest Northern hemisphere Uni friend, was again marvellous on a balmy Thursday last week at The Bridge, Lainey. Again, total recommend, followed by happy Emmaüs rummage, as is our wont.😍.
Sad as we are to have lost Town of Gown's Café Rouge, The Bridge has subbed well twice now.
5. Subbed.....that, with proofreading and writing up is now regular new big thing over several days weekly, then big busy Saturday, bullying all as Dame Raffles🙂😇 (a passed 4-foot dear to us all - RIP, Admiral)with winning tickets😁. Huge changes at Club. All going the good way, bringing in so many, age 18months and up with Didi rugby, Wooden spoon, massive Community involvement across schools. Healthy bodies, healthy minds and v.v.
#
That's another rambling few osps done, with ubiquitous tomatoes pic, bien sûr.
Rum-poached h-g figs yesterday will enter big figgy pudding raffle prize at Club crimbo. Altering cs involvement in other outreach and more Court biz nowadays too. More and more birds with broken wings.....
Go gently Sue, Bala, dfv.
All blessings to all of you reading here.
KIA KAHA AROHANUI !🙏🌹🐾♥️.....with final ABs v 'boks to watch at Club, Village Life😃, 11h. 🤞👍🤜🏾🤛✊👊🏼🇳🇿🏉 .

So pleased that you managed to fill up Ampersand, yes Tesco’s is where my beloved headed at 6am on Wednesday to fill mine, they seem to be having far more deliveries than the big name fuel garages.9

I see that the & 'Putah is playing as normal!
I see no pic!
Right I'll stop!
Xmas stuff in!
Got to pay the TV Tax today. Hardly worth it for 37 UCs a year, 1 programme and two England matches! £6.91 for each hour viewed!
Drop Anchor!
Was out this morning to get bits to start pud and cake for xmas. Hot fire waters purchased, bourbon! Has to get the fruits and bits next week! Recipe available on Thursday. I see the media is saying they've now created a shortage of pigs in blankets for xmas! You cannot make this up? The Admiral has steered clear of double processed foods since his apprenticeship in 1978, on mixed veg/ That was processed once, stored, then processed again! Same as the three day old sandwich on the snack and grab shelf! Avoid! Proper pigs in blankets are Lincolnshire chipolatas wrapped in smoked streaky bacon! Those efforts the surplus stores rip you off with are not the same!
Then off to the Veterans breakfast for natter and chin wag! Bangers and bacon was eaten! On way round, the surplus store had petrol in and no queue! Filled up! At the breakfast club, one ex comrade who drives the tanker was thanking people for the overtime he is on! xmas meal booked for December. All are good, though we still have problems with our older ones who cannot get their prescription as they do not like going onto the internet!
Caught up with the University Challenge last night and Ted Lasso. Cheeses and very special fizzy water was consumed!
Just fed Empress her lunch! We changed her breakfast routine as she gets a bit rocky when the galley is used to make breakfast, so she gets her food down last now! Full on fish in jelly and biscuits!
Now just writing this and getting ready to visit the barber. I still have all my hair!
Keep Safe!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -
Admiral: Thank you for the Christmas cake reminder.
Ampersand: So pleased you could get the post back, and a belated Happy Birthday
1 I wanted to make somethng today so it’s cranberry and chocolate cake we’ve got some 100% cocoa in and wow it tastes amazing so smooth, while I was clearing up I got all of the cake bits down to check what’s needed for the crimbo cake, we’ve got lots of leftover bits that will make a lovely one no need for new, but might need some brandy, will keep an eye out for offers. But we do have whiskey, could I use whiskey in it instead??
2 Quiche, new pots and salad for dinner.
3 Some very basic tidying and washing done, oh and had to clean the oven hence dinner doesn’t need the oven, and also washing hanging about drying as don’t want to use more gas than we need to.
4 Multi-tasking, put a face pack and hair pack on, and then used the time in between to change our bedding .
5 Watching Tony Robinson on the Thames, it’s pretty much a winner if it has him in, fascinating.

My pleasures...
1) new month, new budget so I got some admin sorted. Booked DDs flights to visit family in Bucks in Sept and Glasgow in Nov...her dad paid for return flight here from bucks and her granny is insisting on covering the flights to Glasgow for her nieces wedding...so I only spent £70 today (or that's the net result when the £290 from the Glasgow flights is refunded to me!). Extra money in the budget is great as we can start preparing for baby (who is due in 10 weeks!!)
2) DH wasn't well today (boo) but whilst he was at the docs I went for a mooch in the charity shop and got a Jack Wills gilet for me for £3, a lovely Dunnes hat for 18mo for £1 and a new sippy cup for 50p. Total RRP would be nearly £80! Also got some new jeans buttons from the fabric shop so I can repair DH's best jeans.
3)Turned the heating on for the first time this year. A couple of hours really took the chill off but tomorrow I need to figure out how to turn off the heat in the snooker room, guest room, lesser used lounge and dining room as we don't need to heat those!
4) 1 hour driving today and listened to my French CD which felt like a good use of otherwise dead time
5) dinner was lovely and DH helped as he wasn't working...BBC good food burnt aubergine chilli and Tesco recipe for sweet potato and spinach quesadillas6) my mum is staying and I haven't killed her (yet)11 -
Agree re: anything Tony Robinson, PK.👍
To clarify, 'twas friend's birthday, not &'s. We go twice a year, always a lovely day out - next one January for this Capricorn 🐐, 10th for us both.🙂
