VJsmum agree on Vigil but so glad they didn't leave a cliff hanger for a second series. DH would've been hopping mad and it's hard to get him to watch dramas with me for this reason. We both really enjoyed it though.
Glad to hear about your brother taking his life back. All very sad, but I hope he can start to enjoy some of the freedoms he's been lacking.11 -
Cornwall! Be careful, pirates could live there!
M&M Thinks I will have to dictate my parsley sauce recipes! Details soon!
Jammies! Proper Talk!
Dropping Anchor!
Huh! Listened as we can to the football! Enough said!
Because of the football (Enough said) I have not watched a film last night so no review!
Had prawn sweet and sour last night for supper. Very tasty with chopped toms, mushrooms and peppers. Then as we had some strawberries left, them and a mince pie!
Looking for stopover in Lincs at the moment! Not a tour, so the Admiral will be at sea again! Details soon!
Peeled and did vegetables for the cleaned freezer. 3lb swede with some wonky carrots! From the discount surplus store!
Threw out some old shoes as the had the heel gone through! No good for the yard as I bought some new ones early this year!
Keep Safe!
I work from home so my cat can be fed on demand!12 -
Admiral, what/which place is the discount surplus store, if it's not a trade secret - shhhhh?
Ampersand, I hope you are keeping well, I have the book in the to be read pile, I have one in front of it at the moment, but looking forward to it.
Bala, hope you and family are okay?
They are still queuing for fuel everywhere around here.
1 An entertaining time here. We took our Mars back to the vets first thing this morning, preparing to have her PTS, as she has deteriorated very fast, she is now disabled, they are happy we can care for her as is, we have flat laminate floors inside and grass garden so she shouldn’t get sores, while we think, sadly it will be quick, we are looking if there is any way of making a teeny tiny back end wheel chair for her. DH is currently working on a version in the garage. Pleasure as she is still with us and happy in herself, shattered as we were both working up the courage to accept the pts option.
2 I am cleaning everywhere as it is the cleaning day for me, sad I know! But I also need to make sure the place is as clean as possible to prevent infection as we have 5 end of lifers at the moment, a pleasure it’s all done.
3 Bumbles all over the sunflower, absolutely mesmerising in the autumn sunshine.
4 Meal planning is going well.
5 About to accept an offer Disney sent through for their subscription from a previous subscription.

Hello. My day.Nice walk round to mums this morning to feed cats. Popped a washing on and filled her garden bin whilst I waited to hang it out. Beautiful rainbow. It’s been a day of sunshine and heavy showers.
Had a free cut and blow dry at hairdresser as apprentice did a solo job. Thank you!Back in to mums for cats then supermarket.
Niece and great nephew came for lunch. Soup and crusty bread. Chatty chap was talking to his cousin in Melbourne. Him and the doggy were very good friends. We were going to go down woodland but heavy rain showers so I’m glad we never. However we did got to the play park in our estate and took a towel to dry the seats! Much splashing in puddles! Then went and spent a small fortune but all money I’ve siphoned away doing lots of extra hours at work over the past year. Bought a new bed and mattress for me and a new bed frame for spare room as we already have a mattress. Coming next week so much to sort out.Sigh! Back to mums for blooming cats…they eat more than I do!Then home. Hello doggy. Sorted out my flowers whilst I made dinner. Mince round and roast parsnips and red cabbage, carrots and peas. Very yummy.Lots of worky stuff to do this evening as I’ve organised an event so trying to tie up lose ends for that. So been lots of texts and messages and emails.
Quick chat with my aunt on phone. Update on the patient.Heading to bed shortly. It’s been a long day ( thanks angry shouting lady!)

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep. Less road work noise than the previous night.
2) Smaller son did his first full day at college since June.
3) Drove off in search of petrol and 4 pints of milk.
4) Hens OK.
5) Bigger son's birthday today (21). He and his girlfriend came round mid afternoon for a cup of tea.
6) Popped to Sainsburys and I now own 2 pairs of trousers instead of one! I was getting tired of having to wash them and dry them overnight.
7) Bought a replacement back bulb for the car.
8) Watched Grand Designs.12 -
Pleasures for today
1) slow work day so got a few bits done in between calls, mostly shoving things in the washer and dryer, in prep for my mum and her friend descending. Got house ship shape and guest room swiped with fresh sheet only for her to say she's actually coming tomorrow and her friend can no longer join. But it's done now!
2) lunch was one of leftovers and bits from cupboard/freezer but was lovely. Cous cous and freshly fried falafel with salad and homemade Muhammara (walnut and red pepper dip). Enjoyed it with DH and we had a good giggle about our lack of sanity as we sat at the end of our rarely used 14 seater dining table!!!
3) All crisp and lovely outside but have still managed to keep heating off. 2000l oil tank still over 90% full. Should be fine for the year, really. We have electric showers which helps.
4) managed to prep dinner for tomorrow whilst DH cleaned kitchen and got the nappy wash on, so we are in a good place housework wise. And the cleaner comes tomorrow... yippee!
5) ended the day with a clay face mask whilst doing the online supermarket order. That's another job jobbed!12 -

Little joys of Wednesday:
1. Got an early night (so needed!)
2. New PB at the gym (to any gym enthusiasts, my PBs are laughable but I’m quite new to it and have a very long way to go!)
3. Very little traffic on the drive home.4. Enjoyed a dinner of guinea fowl legs from the butcher (they’re on offer at the moment) and sweet and sour sauce (jar, named brand, reduced for no obvious reason) - made me smile as mum used that sauce when I was a kid.5. Sorted out a click and collect order for groceries and dramatically reduced my expenses as a result of avoiding impulse buys.12 -
Good morning
Hello EriSG. You'll like it here. Lots of lovely people.
Paulie H - love your photos. It's years since we went to Cornwall but you really have a knack for capturing the atmosphere and I was right back there.
Mhagster - thanks for the ampersand update. Good to know she's ok. Hope things soon settle down for you and your mother.
Bala - still worrying about you. Hugs
Busy day yesterday with DGD. Trying to make sure she's caught up with schoolwork before her return to school next week. I was surprised how hard I found it - not the actual work but concentrating on something for an hour at a time. Since I retired and then more recently stopped marking I rarely settle down to do anything for any length of time. Must be good for me though!
We also made mug cakes and are learning to knit!
At last there is something to watch on tv. Finished Vigil ( enjoyable though I was often confused) and Endeavour ( strange last episode but still entertaining) but we have Silent Witness and Grantchester still to watch.
Taking my friend out for coffee this morning as her eye is still not right so she still can't drive. Weather forecast is dire but we'll be fine!
Happy wet Thursday everyone

1. Work was reasonable - a colleague is on leave.
2. Remembered to buy bread before I left. Expensive as from M and S in the hospital but only brought bread.
3. Took lunch in with me - leftovers.
4. Long chat with my parents on the phone.
5. A telephone appointment with a GP. I now have an appointment with him next week.
