This weekend was quite tough. The toddler had an upset stomach and DH (who usually does majority childcare at weekends so I can crack on with all things domestic) had an infection and is taking ibuprofen and anti-Bs and not feeling great. I lost Saturday evening driving to urgent care and back. Then last night I had a Zoom meeting to prep for some online training I'm giving this week. It's a side gig and will bring in an extra £900 this month but oh god am I going to be knackered and I always find it
However, we survived and I did have some pleasures:
1) managed some food prep for the week yesterday morning. I made homemade swede and potato pasties, prepped roast bits for last night and made 8 portions of burnt aubergine chilli - 4 for us later in the week, and 4 I have boxed up for a friend's family. She's just had a thyroidectemy and I'll drop the chilli off tonight with microwave rice, avocados, tortilla chips, salsa and ice cream so that's dinner sorted for them.
2) full cupboards and full fuel tank!
3) tot spent loads of time in our woodland this weekend, poking mushrooms playing with acorns
4) managed to plan out a budget for the first 6 months of mat leave. I get 100% pay for that period so should be able to rebuild some of the emergency fund we ravaged during the house move
5) realised that we can probably get 2 car seat using Babs plus 13yo DD in the back of our car which means we don't need to sort a new car before the baby is born. We will be looking at going electric next year but this gives us some breathing space!

D Doll - I seem to remember DH buying me chips many moons ago , when I first knew him, and look what that led to.
Well done on the coat Eristeaygo
And the top of the league Admiral
LaineyT I too has the cold as does DrM (now now!) - get well soon
Phew have now caught up on posts from all you lovely people.
Friday the cold was back with a vengeance so not much to post (covid test -ve so defo a bog standard cold)
Saturday feeling a bit better
1) lazy start to the day with Frasier, mugs of tea and marmalade (Dundee of course) on toast (hm bread so guess that's also Dundee!)
2) and of course the Saturday morning bath, this time half an owl Lush bomb
3) meeting dd2 in town for lunch, gbf phoned, did I want to do lunch so he took us both to Ticktys - first time post covid - lovely
4) shopping with dd2 - spent my sweepie winnings (£120!) on a new pair of running shoes - had a voucher so got change
5) lunch was soooo filling no need for supper and dd2 and I had an early night because...
Sunday
1) Up at the crack of dawn and the long drive to Inverness. By 9:45 we were joining the throng for the Baxters River Ness 10k
2) We did it! This is my first ever 10K (restarted C25K in March having given up 4 years ago at week 5, succeeded this time despite 1st week finding the 1 minute runs a struggle, asked DrM (a runner) how I should build up to 10K - he said don't, instead mix 5K fast with easy and add hills. so i did, and my longest run had been 5.9K so was a bit nervous about whther I would mangae to run the whole thing. DD2 paced me to make sure I didn't go too fast at the beginning and I finished in 1:11:34 (chiptime). And I ran all the way. I even sprinted at the end - feeling very proud of myself
3) And I got my Muttley medal - and yes I did message my official time email to DrM and he replied Well Done!
4) Well-deserved brunch before the long drive home
5) Then somehow I managed to get to a friend's party. It was his 70th 3/10/20 so this was his 70th and 71st parties together. Sad to report DrM did not make an appearance (cancel the fascinators? truth be told he's not a party animal but his best friend is cross with him as his presence would have been very much appreciated by the birthday boy however short) but friend with terminal C who collapsed on Tuesday did and was lovely to catch up with him. Had a lovely evening, declined the invitation to go onto Mennies after and slept very well.

Morning all from the train
Pleasures for last few
1. A lazy day in ICT - the weather was AWFUL. Read a whole book and watched a couple of episodes of Killing Eve
2. Went to friends for dinner
3. And walked back under a clear sky with fantastic stars
4. A lovely day walking round the quarries with friends old and new and "'im off the telly"
5. Followed by afternoon tea and then dinner together. I may have had too much wine..
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
1. Right, above is a piccie, direct to osps, filthy and pouring up on The Gallops. & is dry in Meriva. & will settle for both as pleasures.
2. Mob. sorted in MrT earlier. Much catching up now required. Doing it!😇
3. Paulie's pics - they are a joy. All that cerulean colour thingywotsit. Definitely none of that here, is there Lainey?
4. 'Twas same as on Saturday at rugby, but & did her troubadour Raffle Dame thing again, (eek, car is being walloped by darker, heftier rain squalls as I write) Made another £650 apx. All v.g., as was 15-3,😁. Said to many, it was the first weekend we'd had of real rugby weather. Much more to come.
5. Our lovely vicar is back, but immediately had 4 services yesterday - MP, HC, a baptism, then Pets' Blessing Service at 15h. Wonderful latter, some 4-foot over-excitement accidents, but no matter. Many present, others brought pics of their pets, as invited. Amazing collapsible fabric kitty carriers - never seen such before.
It was a fabulous end to the afternoon.
.....and now look!
P.s. to Eri - we have just about the same soup/method/usings up on the go.😋 Back to it, with some superseedy h-m bread later. Bon appétit!
And now

Hello
teeny tiny typing on my phone. My charger is being difficult so not charging my iPad which I usually post on. This is way too tiny for my eyes!!Big worky days are done. Hurrah. Today better than yesterday. The niecelys came for tea. A surprise birthday tea! Set table this morning before I went to work so just had to cook food when I came in. Think the dog may have lay under the table all day waiting!!Lots of chatter and laughter ( lots of dishes! )
excellent tips today…and just okay yesterday. But all in the jam jar.
Bought a real pumpkin last night. Sat in theporch. Will probably do a floral display in it.Mum got home on Friday. At least she’s managing to feed the cats.13 -
mhagster tell me more about your floral display, sounds lovely!
1) Survived a very trying day (toddler home ill) got roped into helping some junior colleagues on something they should've just done some training on, loads of tedious calls and came out the other end!
2) dropped off supper for a friend who just had a thyroidectemy and has a young family - made veggie chilli and dropped off with rice pouches, tortilla chips, salsa, avocado, ice cream and choc sauce. Was much appreciated!
3) our own supper of veggie katsu went down well, particularly with the 19mo who kept demanding more sauce!
4) our garden...despite not being able to go into nursery with a dodgy tum, DS had loads of places to roam. DH spent the day with him, taking him up the lane to BAAA at sheep, poking fungi and blackberry picking, and also just rambling in our lovely garden which I still can't believe is ours!
5) DD had a great time at 'business club'...none of her friends are doing it, she just rocked up and is one of 4 in her year (and the only girl) plus many from other years. Love her confidence!13 -
M&M Scoop the innards out of pumpkin and pop either a jam jar or florist foam in then arrange flowers.11

1 Just paid for the adult education evening classes for the next 6 months, certified British Sign Language stage 1 by the end hopefully. I think a pleasure to do- not to pay for, but that said it is a lot of classes.
2 Doctors apt went well via phone, but back on steroids for a week, and they have kindly given me rather a lot for emergencies but I have to remember to also tell them, also a complete change of meds to try. Then popped out in the car and take DH to his hospital apt which also went well and did a round robin to the pharmacy on the way back.
3 I went through what we have in as I was tempted to do a top up shop but found 4 part bake rolls and odds and ends to use up so that’s handy and tidied up. Grilled chicken, last of the salad and pots is tonight’s grub.
4 More re decoration it’s at that point of looking worse before looking better, this time DH moved the wall mount around to get the TV in the right place next up is all the clutter away and that is the last wall on the to do list.
5 Picked up some 50p aubretia seeds to put around the pond fountain in the hope they take.

quick 5 before I hit the sack
1) still full of cold so took it easy this morning - can't decide if being able to join a f2f meeting online due to what we've all acclimatised to since the pandemic rather than phone in sick is good or bad, but defo better than going in full of cold
2) after work did some gardening after walking dogs, cutting back, filled brown bin ready for wednesday
3) cooked lentil soup for lunches and then pasta dish for today and tomorrow
4) then played the piano for an hour
5) then watched two episodes of my guilty secret - first dates - hmmm wonder if DrM likes olives 🤣
