1 As my day cleared of things I made a point of doing the writing I really want to do and enjoyed it.
2 I was today years old when I discovered dino snores, a sleep over in the natural history museum, it so appeals, it’s ridiculously expensive, but it still appeals so much.
3 I got up reasonable to phone the vets and get our Mars booked in today, we know it’s cancer as the bump multiplied, but hopefully with steroids she can keep it at bay a while, you can never tell but you can try.
4 Booked us both in for our flu jabs next month via Boots.
5 I cancelled this weeks shopping, as we have stocks and it will balance out the vet bill.

Hello from middle of nowhere !Middle of nowhere with no internet so having to carefully use my phone data!
In a little cottage in the middle of nowhere ( a very tiny and rural village which does have a co-op so I managed to get RTC broccoli and very RTC eggs! )
Stopped in at SIL on way to say hello ( it’s wedding week) and holy moly it was so hot! We left dull!Came away with a basket of veggies from their garden.Have had a few nice walks with doggy and a few by myself …that would be the coop times three ! Bought everything to make pasta apart from the pasta! So had to go back up but it’s a three minute walk !It’s a bit like being a stranger in town ( maybe because I’m a stranger in town) with people looking at us because they don’t know us and know everyone else!Made pasta with veggies and bacon lardons and there’s plenty left for tomorrow. Then had a lovely doggy walk and heard owls and saw lots of bats.Bed!12 -
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Smaller son went to college! The first time for 9 weeks. He now says he is never going again...
3) Had my car MOTd and it only failed on 3 things (it is 18).
4) Went to floody city for petrol and a cup of tea at Waitrose.
5) Hens OK.
6) Made a shepherds pie for tea. It was/is SO HOT. Cleaned the bathroom once the pie was in the oven and got so overheated I had to immediately have a shower.
7) Picked bigger son up from work and as I drove down the hill, the temperature was 32 degrees. At 6pm.
8) Watched Holby City.

Hugs SSue, how proud your DD would have been of her daughter and of the brilliant job her Nan has done to support her to this point of change, hold tight to precious memories x
For yesterday,
Bit of a restless night spent on the sofa close to small dog so enjoyed my breakfast coffee.
Apart from trip out to pet store for dog & bird food didn’t stray far.
Hot, sunny weather so shorts back on and lots of washing dried on line.
My little canine friend healing well, I risked taking the inflatable collar off and her sigh of contentment as she could lie down properly touched my heart, she slept solidly for two hours with a cooling fan trained on her basket.
Had marinated some chicken chunks in Moroccan spices and we had those with spicy couscous for tea.

SuffolkSue - cling to Julian of Norwich? Both all will be well and there is a force of love… when sleep is short, hold memories & know we hold you in our thoughts too.
Mhagster - well done relinquishing authority when it doesn’t suit! Holiday, hurrah!
LaineyT - hurrah small dog recovering & “cold sausage with morning painkiller” & cooling fan clearly devotedly nursed.
Frith - fiendish hot. May auntie’s house sell soon.
DundeeDoll - love slow children on Balgay as a route marker… Happycas - caravan & elephant footstool sound wonderful!
VJsmum - Owch wrist slow to improve, but hopefully sunshine/vitamin D helping!
Purple kitten - go for a dino snore (unless they’re fiend ageist)?!
OS pleasures recently
Parents have restored boiler function & thus “wash & nosh” events with daughters can now be shelved & fleeces put back on hangers. [So it turns nippy. Then Roasting…]
Family tree climbing & loving the politics that has daughter-in-law named but not nephew’s bride 5 months later. Pleasure in wild speculation…
Did another LED conversion on a maglite torch. Now I have LED torches with lithium batteries in my grab bag, car & medical kit. Should be useful for another decade, so long as I don’t leave a torch stuck ‘on’ in the bag!
Ordered fish & chips for Ma-in-law’s birthday, got into a muddle & found myself eating “sea-sausage”… looked & tasted like haddock. Menfolk all alternating between laughing at & scolding me. Ooops. Her just chuckling, mostly at me blushing.
It’s not good when youngest has hands colder than tap water and claims that’s normal - I shall check him again after he’s eaten. Pleasure is he’s amused & tolerant about my concern. [Did then warm up after jumping jacks & food.]
The weekend has started with a request for my hands to please open a bottle of bleach. Careful study of the plastic markings & dry hands achieved what drowsy “it’s stuck” hadn’t, but the satisfaction all round is charming!
Found a pair of Ralph Lauren sunglasses in a charity shop & they fit & while the lenses aren’t up to driving, I can manage as a pedestrian. Cost £30, retail at over $165… Husband unimpressed, but they have an eccentric vibe I love!
Saw lady on scooter zipping along, grey hair bannering behind her. Thought it cumbersome as a broomstick, but effective!
Trying to watch the news & stay calm. Not helped by scout leaders yipping enthusiastically about back to face up face. The numbers show we’ll be in local lockdowns (at best) soon, so preparing an online program makes sense. [Fellow leader & I have crafty mischief & international badge work sketched out.]
Zooming with parents, there are no garden rubbish collections as there aren’t enough lorry drivers. So they lugged a bin into the car! Ye gods, my intrepid idiot amazing parents. Of the 4 on that call, 3 of us have flu jabs booked. A birthday gift to look forward to!
Being confident at spelling is a pleasure. Wondering why my husband wants to know how you spell “wobbliest“ is good fun too. Just not asking some questions seems the path of wisdom.
Harvested the dwarf beans before thermal shock affected them too badly. Moved two sages from where they were being attacked by something to recovery in the “nursery”. Counted blessings that I didn’t leave it even later to get out with the watering can!
Boggling happily at the euro team showjumping. Some of those horses just have so much clearance over the fences!
Some days reading the calorie rating takes a lot of the fun away. Pleasure is hoping I’ll forget those numbers & remember the ys price instead!
Did a morning class in auditing (part of a nearly six week bout of training) in my dressing gown then jumped into the shower & forgot quite a lot of small details in the joy of cool running water & suds. [Notes have been re-read.]
Looked up glasses cloth & realised the microfibre cloths I use for mopping the car are actually fine for glasses (and lurid pink, so sons won’t touch!)
Middleson off on DofE, and so we succumbed to kebabs. Now happy, sticky, stuffed!
Facebook has Amazon ads & I saw a weird shape called a skeg & even having read the reviews I wasn’t wholly certain what it does. Googled & learned - a steering aid retrofitted to a kayak.
Health, strength, love, & courage to all as have need, parasols cooling draughts and help watering likewise & frankly while this glorious sun blasts down, enjoy where possible. Says she, shackled to a schooldesk.
