I have been and am still on holiday. We are in France, at our apartment, and have another week to go.
1. Feeling relaxed. I only now know how stressed I had become over the past 18 months or so.
2. My back is so much better as our my other joints.
3. There has been some lovely not sunny days but it was wet yesterday but sunny and warm already today.
4. Enjoying some good food and wine. f
5. DS1 has started his new job and a week in he is pleased he changed jobs. More interesting job, shorter commute and working from home two days a week. He is on more money. I am pleased he had the confidence to change after the last few years he has had.10 -
For yesterday,
Capt S had the day off and small dog went into doggy day care as a trial run ahead of us being away next week.
Took advantage of being pet free parents and went to Uni City, we had booked tickets for the FW museum and enjoyed a good look around, first time in a few years.
A late lunch, the newly reopened Rupert Brooke in Grantchester, nice food and serendipitous given a new series of the tv programme started as well.
Picked up small dog, she hardly noticed we had arrived as was having far too much fun exploring new surroundings.
I did a latish shop and picked up a fair few bargains for the freezer.7 -
Hello. It’s dark here already. Boo ( as in sad boo not scary boo!)
Up at stupid o’clock. Very quick doggy walk. Then in at work for 5.30am. Till 10.00
Then down to vets to pick up doggy prescription.
Then hello doggy and another quick walk.
cut grass. Then I may have crashed out for a couple of hours!Made dinner then we went to the beach. Had a lovely walk. Tide was so far out. A ‘milky sea’ is how I think you’d describe it.9 -
bonnes vacances village life
Aye, the nights are fair drawing in mhags
1) a lazy morning with a loooooong soak in a bubbly bath reading my Bruno book
2) cooked a bean stew and a corn chowder - very much autumn cooking
3) drum roll please dd2 got her degree result - a first. nearly 10 years after she left for Edinburgh for her first attempt at a degree. Soooo proud of her
4) bought a nest of tables from BHF recycling furniture shop - £30 - very pleased with them
5) did my run - decided not to do my normal run cos I wasn't feeling full of energy and didn't want to puff past Dr M's house. cut through Balgay and thought I'd have a go at running up the hill and who should I meet running down. D'oh. But we had a good chat - he asked if I'd be watching England, I said yes down the pub he said he'd come join meand then I managed to run up the rest of the hill (no doubt with a grin to challenge Cheshire Cat - I am incorrigible!

2 The person was 50 miles from friends we haven’t seen since before lockdown so we de toured.
3 Catching up with old friends, who treated us to a lovely hm lunch sarnies, sausage rolls and delicious cake.
4 A long drive home, singing along to the car.
5 Home to neighbours celebrating a birthday singing Abbas dancing queen, and Tom Jones Sex Bomb.

Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son had a nice day mountain biking with his friends then playing pool in the pub. Smaller son also happy and had a trip out later in the day.
3) Hens OK.
4) Got a few jobs done round the house and watched the Paralympics.
5) Curry from the freezer for tea with a naan and smaller son made his signature linguine dish!
6) Picked bigger son up from the pub (to take him back to work ready for the morning) and his 3 friends there were very jolly and invited me in for a drink and to play pool! I couldn't stop as smaller son was in the car (and wouldn't get out).
7) Took bigger son back to work then smaller son and I had a cheeseburger from McDs on the way home.
8) Finally remembered to ask neighbours (downhill ones whose house has sold but they're still there) if I can have a copy of the septic tank survey. Hopefully it'll save me money if I can use it if I sell this house in future. I left a postcard reminder for them on their step. She's a bit funny but hopefully he will pick it up (they split up several months ago).
9) In bed now and will watch the Last Leg in a minute. Sad that it is the last one. I've enjoyed the paralympics.9 -
DD congratulations to DD2 a first is a great achievement.
1. Relaxing day. Visited a coup!e of vineyards and had to taste some of the wine. One of them was in a lovely building.
2. Visited a garden and saw a turtle on a water Lily leaf. Saw a frog on one too but that is more usual. One of the frogs caught an insect while we were watching. The speed of its tongue was incredible.
3. Reading whilst sunbathing.
4. A lovely meal at a restaurant with gorgeous views. Watching people walk past on their way to a wedding reception. The women all dressed up and majority of the men in a shirt and jeans.
5. Received a text message from a friend who I had been worried about and she is ok.
