Feeling a bit blah so have come to bed exceptionally early. Bit dizzy. Big bit tired. No work.Went for lunch with DD2.DD1 sent reassuring news. So a very quick call to her.
sunny day.Back massage of the ouch kind .12 -
Frith - isn’t it wonderful how some people take the virus seriously & they tend not to be the ones you might expect?Ampersand - if BT etc want to deliver on unplugging the copper landlines, they’ve got to be able to deliver emergency telephony. Your Fenny Not-Spot may be sprouting new masts.Mhagster - forgive me, I misread “had to take mum out”. Poor Haggis & wasps! May sleep aid recovery.SuffolkSue - delighted the WI has stepped forward with multiple distractions.
bala - the good news & the hard. Big hugs.OS pleasures recentlyStood in a queue & boggled at the rainbow colours of gin now available. (Whatever happened to the ‘looks like water’ stuff?!)Happy yell “this is the last bundle to go into the freezer” - Himself has had Issues with Moths…Middleson saw Van Morrison live & was close enough to get the ringing in the ears but also to watch & appreciate all the musicians happily competent while their (75 year old) boss remained hidden behind stone face & shades. Son amused at average age of audience & heavy shufflings off to the toilets… (He may have been amongst the youngest persons there.)Himself has had another good haul from camping shop reduced shelves & I have a small bag for useful stuff to go in the car. I look forward to packing it…. We also got some brass poppers for sundry projects, so old they were Made In Britain!Yikes, Christmas stuff in some charity shops already. Pleasure in being able to think “Nope!”Argh, doing trig to estimate guy line length. Pleasure is iPhone laterally has extra functions so my brain isn’t cramping til I have to explain it.. Still, he’s decided to use the 2 5m lines as guy lines. There are no birthdays for over a week but we’re still grousing over placement, wording, what pen etc. Pleasure will be handing them over/placing them on the right shelf. [Done, OThankHeavens.]PSM (Parcel Sorting Machine) training for Middleson. He’s been working with them for a year, but a group of them are to be formally trained. So he’ll be put up in a four star London hotel, coo-er.Useful stuff bag is getting things the chaps are unlikely to abscond with, like a pink spork & vivid pink microfibre towel. (I hate pink too, but still more my kit being nicked.) They’ve not twigged the little moleskin notebook & Parker biro folded Inside the towel. Husband donated an under-appreciated Leatherman tool!Spent a couple of happy hours with Himself, going through the torch drawer, swapping bulbs, batteries, bits to find a maglite that is the right one to upgrade to LED use. (BoP would so approve!) It’s a nice bright metal colour not the usual black (or worse, camo) that I need a tether on.Husband finally asked what am I assembling & from where did I get the list of kit? Bushcrafting site, daybag contents. “Ah! Hoped it wasn’t a bug out bag…” & on with the sorting & fettling.Middleson having fun as training near a kayak shop (in London) so he plans to drop in for a look-see. Always fun to read his occasional messages of reassurance. [Saw an inflatable board being inflated & reckoned that was the cardio warmup right there.]Himself roaring with laughter at Al Jazeera - “this village, everyone in it has been up Everest. Several times. They’re guides.” Puts the “life changing experience” into perspective, “just another Tuesday…”Goggling at Sri Lanka & a festival with 55 elephants, in the middle of lockdown. How come we didn’t get elephants? (Major fan of the gentle giants.) Is there any way we can parlay elephants into Anglicanism?Handed a Emergency Shelter & being offered a cook set, which is right up on the line of my Ignorance. I’m just trying to put together a sort of mostly left in the car toolkit & am being offered kit to equip a somewhat alternative lifestyle… (Background cries of “ah, found my brass button compass!”)Happy cries of joy! Some person has found & fitted a rose to the watering can, so everything got watered as opposed to attacked by savage elements. I will have to do more targeted work but a rose gives a wonderful benevolent delusion.Shearing the youngest is a challenge. Within a few passes of the clippers, he has tufts of hair emerging from his slippers…I should hire this household out as a circus act. The palaver of one blown lightbulb is a three storey display of poor communications, questionable storage choices & frankly why did that location (let alone cable length) seem wise. Plus, since the tallest cannot extract the spent bulb, we don’t know what to replace it with. Pleasure is the sheer, ludicrous, have-to-laugh sequence even if ongoing lack of light over stairs. [They got the glass but not the metal of the bulb out…]Tomorrow is forecast sunny, so we’re off to the seaside. Himself is happily sorting camping kit to allow for hot drinks whilst using up partly full gas canisters. Teabags galore! Along with mugs & mats & even a fleece blanket. [Forecast has slipped a bit but we’re all packed, so going!]Stuck in traffic, I patched new words into “London’s Burning”, but the chaps refused to join me in a round!Ah, the sea breeze, the slosh of waves, the high pitched cheeps of other peoples’ toddlers misbehaving - blissful. Then the unexpected phone call of “mum I’m at this pub come get me” - but he was holding a laundry basket of Denby Ode! [Amazing how sea air (& the drive) have left me crackered!]Eavesdropping on husband wrestling with his phone to text me the 3 photos he took. Pleasure is it’s not me going bloop bloop bloop & pausing to peer at the screen!Youngest has heroically lugged what I hope is the weekly shop. Having mastered cooking with chicken strips, he plans to venture into beef…Yikes, forgot a scout planning meeting (as on beach time) & apologised for a day that was “slightly deranged but glorious” - fellow leader roared with laughter & we’ll figure what to do for the global issues badge…I have a brewkit in the car - and today it is in a new mess tin, with a new cooker & fuel tablets, trusted matches, new tea coffee & chocolate sachets swapped in and even a glow stick! All carefully packed & taped & ready to go back into the car. Much delight & relief alongside the um of the new cooker (I am ‘so Falklands’ in my familiar kit, I have been coaxed into the 21st century…)Health Strength Love & Courage to all as have need, happy Bank Holiday Weekend & may the weather cooperate with plans.8 -
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Day 9 of isolation. Watched some of the Paralympics. Played chess and Scrabble.
3) Hens OK.
4) Swept and tidied the garden.
5) Made a sort of giant pasty for tea with fitchet pie filling plus broccoli.
6) It is 10 days since bigger son's first symptom of coronavirus (he didn't have a PCR until day 2 because his LF on day 1 said negative). As it is now 10 days really, his girlfriend has driven round and they are sitting in the garden! (She had coronavirus at the same time, but no symptoms at all).
7) Just finished the virtual pub quiz.
8) Looking forward to watching the Last Leg.11 -

Happy birthday Dd 🎂
A glorious walk with my sister to lovely local nature reserve.
DIscovered how to get to the bird hide across the water. It was huge and we were the only ones there so spent a good time looking out at the 180 degree view.
Walked back to the little riverside town for tea and a bacon roll. whilst we were in the cafe my sister was looking at a book they had on our County with great old photos. When I got home I found 2 second hand copies online so ordered us one each 😊
Have a great Friday 😊

Happy Birthday DD, hope you have a lovely day 🎂
Fab photos as always Paulie
For yesterday,
Text conversation with pals and a date made to meet up, not until October but two of them I haven’t seen for several years so looking forward to it already.
Equine girlie in funny mood, change in the seasons with cool and cloudy weather so she’s shedding her summer coat like mad, add to that hormones and she was bouncing!
Also grazed my pal’s horse in hand for a while, the vet saw him earlier in the week and is pleased with his progress so that’s good.
Popped out to the post office and saw another friend for a chat.
Tasty tea, smoked haddock risotto with sf Pak Choi.
We had recorded new series Great Canal Journeys, it was filmed in EA and featured cathedral plus Uni city.
