5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

For yesterday,
Spent the morning at the yard, tacked my girlie up and was waiting for the school to come free so sat in her stable and listened to a podcast, she was not as interested as me and rested her chin on my shoulder to doze. Seemed a shame to wake her and do some work ☺️The afternoon turned nice and warm in the sunshine.
Finally set some viewing limits on my tablet, it’s all too easy to pick it up and then fall down a rabbit hole of social media, don’t want to spend my life online,
One of my favourite meals for tea, all day veggie breakfast with eggs baked in a bed of rosti potatoes, toms and mushrooms.
Yes to the football DD, interspersed with another hundred match, we will really miss it when it finishes.9 -
Thanks to all for support and kind words.
Hugs to all that need them.

Hello. Have just succumbed and popped the heating on for half an hour just to try and get some washing dried off. I detest wet washing hanging around! Was out with doggy at 4.30am which is just absolutely ridiculous! Just us and the…foxes! Oh how he barked. Shhhhh most normal people are still sleeping! ( wished I was)
Huge amount of catering to be done this morning. Five hours worth!Home and it was lashing with rain but did brighten up later on. Unfortunately I had a load of washing out!Lazy snoozette with the doggy on the sofa this afternoon.
cut grass later on.Friend popped over. And then DD2 friend with puppy popped over so that was nice to see them. Then they went out gallivanting! First proper night out in 18 months. Lordy! Sore heads tomorrow.Chat to sister on phone.9 -
Friday pleasure: the long awaited and feared dental appointment wasn’t as bad as I anticipated 😊 only another 4 to go!
3 in 1 pleasures today: an afternoon dip in the hot tub, listening to my music and 2 red kites soaring above (only usually get 1).
Another dip in the hot tub tonight watching all my twinkly lights coming on 😊
Night all 💤7 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Got house clean and tidy plus 2 loads of washing done.
3) Bigger son's new driving licence came in the post, which I thought incredibly fast.
4) Hens OK.
5) I cleared the collection of papers and sundry rubbish and took them to the allotment so I'll probably have a bonfire tomorrow.
6) Spent the afternoon driving round in circles trying to find somewhere open and with layers pellets in stock. Ended up having to go to Malvern!
7) Smaller son made spaghetti for tea.
8) I made some brownies. Bigger son has gone to stay at his girlfriend's tonight (her mum's, as their work is shut due to coronavirus) so I sent him with brownies for everyone. Bigger son and girlfriends are going to York and Whitby over the next few days. (They are doing coronavirus tests every morning but it has been 5 days of negative results so far).
9) Going to watch the meteorites with my brother later. Sleeping bag ready in the car.
10) Watched Casualty.9 -
For the last few days.
1. Had a lovely lunch with DS2, his girlfriend and her Mum. It was the first time I met her and we got on ok. A lovely lunch and some wine. They all came over and had a sit in the garden after lunch.
2. A deer on the road. It run off when I drove down.
3. Chat with my Dad - my Mum was out.
4. Found a lovely little shop while waiting with DH at the opticians. He had to have drops to dilate his pupils. I think if I had gone into the appointment with him I would have been quizzed about my job.
5. Moving plants around in the garden to save having to buy new ones.

Morning all
Pleasures for the last few days
1. finished this section of the coast path - though we had to leave a gap - but another 69 miles covered. we are now at 588 miles. the gap is 18 miles around Tenby as it's steep and we felt not conducive to a broken wrist. we have a date pencilled in to do it.
2. meeting up with family on friday night. haven't seen sister in law for nearly 2 years
3. good journey back to ICT yesterday
4. bathing and washing my hair. showering is tricky with a broken wrist and hair washing almost impossible so i had only a couple of showers but left the hair altogether until i could do it in the bath
5. beer festival at the railway last night. lovely to see people gathered (outside) again. the live band were good too.
have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens8 -
For yesterday,
Had an awful night, restless for most of it and unable to sleep so pleasure of getting up and leaving the night behind.
A warm, sunny day so shorts on.
Time spent with my girlie, love the way her head goes up as she sees me coming around the corner and her soft nicker of welcome, lifts my spirits.
Yes, another snooze on the sofa, missed most of the footie commentary ( we lost ) but woken up by beloved making a cup of tea and we shared a Marlborough Bun.
Nice evening walk with small dog, the breeze had dropped and it was v warm in the sun.

Bala - all strength to you!LaineyT - love ‘cushion of protection’! Aw division of labour regarding butterflies & spiders. Book parcels, glorious! Marlborough Bun?SuffolkSue - absolute rousing hurrahs & while DGD lacks various relatives, she has a heap of celebrations from us lot!DundeeDoll - interviewing season round our way - my boss’ calendar measled with interviews meetings etc but happily she too pelts outside if a candidate cancels. Yeay, you inspiration!Frith - I do love your “it’s not as though anything is straight or true or flat anyway” of polyfiller & paint. All strength! Happydance for Bigger son! Driving you - a more severe test of a relationship usually involves corpses. Meteorite spotting tackle definitely comfortable chair & sleeping bag!Mhagster - releasing collected china can be hard. The unsentimental stuff moves so easily that the emotional landmines are more shocking. 11 hours?! Ye Gods!PaulieHerts - smashing photo & phew dentist!VJsmum - glad to hear seeing family, & managing to keep clean despite cast!OS pleasures recentlyNew workphone delivered safely & appears to have completed its setup correctly - “just” need to migrate the SIM card, ulp. Almost final hurdle, that, plus the responsibility of nurturing its battery. The old one I frankly abused but it worked fine. The new one I feel I should be nicer to.Middleson washed out a stack of crates for me. So glad I, cold tired wet & grubby, didn’t have to remedy the latter two states on the crates. (Also identified the ones to take to tip. [Forgot as too much else to take!])Oooh John Finnemore’s Souvenir Programme Series 7 has started & available via website or BBC Sounds app! Oh that man… I suppose I’m not allowed him as a desert island luxury.Saw a godfather on a nice airy caravan site. He’s NHS & as leave is becoming an issue, his boss pretty much told him to take a week off, & he’s looking good on it, nowhere near as strung-out as we’ve seen him time past. Some time spent talking Dogs, starting with ‘how much walking do you want to do‘ & “you want a dog shaped dog” (youngest has strong views on a proper muzzle & not something pug-like). Good times!Somewhere back in the mists of time I have a relative called Basilice. I’m impressed - we have form for odd-ish names but that one is eye-catching.Discussing women pilots, I find that (as usual) the G suit that stops pilots loosing consciousness at high gravity are designed for blokes, & of a specific shape to boot. As of 2020, suits with waist darts & more adjustability at “waist, thigh & calf” have been trialled & both female & shorter male pilots approve. Pleasure that the penny is dropping!A colleague who’s been having seizures is now on medication, & has taken notes on what to ask his GP & where to get an SOS talisman. Very happy he’s getting help towards stability, as he first went over August last year.Husband brought home Denby from charity shop crawl, and a Tilley hat, new but under-appreciated, which fits me! My own Tilley!Sister pretty much counting the hours til she picks up her new pup. Lovely to hear her so happy & she’s being very sensible about bedding, toys & so forth, even sticking to a budget! [Absolute cutie has now arrived, blonde Lab, named Harlow.]Himself has assembled a replacement first aid kit in the little waterproof case. It’s much heavier & has more interesting contents, even if I’m uncertain kini tape does stop blisters. He found it, and packed a length, along with an impressive array of other things.Waking Youngest to go get the shopping can be very sweet. My tousled son looms over me, asking will I please call his mobile as he’s left it somewhere, & then scampers to be reunited.Middleson near crooning - I got cream soda for him… It’s not easy to lead him astray, or cosset him, but the grin of delight is rewarding!Youngest has played a blinder with Yellow Food. Chicken pizza with sweetcorn, pineapple & yellow peppers. (It tasted great!)We heard from the parents! (Too much radio silence is worrying.) They’re away making music in Devon, but glad of their hot water bottles by night. So to hear they’re well & happy is a relief - parents can be such a responsibility!“Bats are just flying Goth squirrels” says the Dave TV channel. It’s an amusing idea but really not quite fair. Bats have their own unique charm (& vulnerability) while squirrels are altogether cuter, cockier & willing to interact with humans.Crazy sprint to Aldi as Himself saw a fire pit recommended. I still have the paid work to do, but a happy man is worth the Friday afternoon fuss.Today saw his American slot together camping cook stove arrive & he’s happier than my sister with her new puppy! Pup is utterly cute, but Himself has always been harder to shop for.Middleson, away to Inverness to fish with work mates, sends occasional texts “arrived safely”, & much later “caught a pollock”. Daft how these little texts bring huge reassurance! Also delaying SIM switch as I don’t want to risk missing a text.Sage , marjoram & rosemary, brought on from cuttings, now all big enough to go into front garden - hurrah water rooting as a propagation method (this idiot proof!)Health, strength hugs & courage to all as have need & special bonus rations for all around thresholds, be they exams, interviews, tests - the candidates get the results but thanks to teachers, examiners, instructors, interviewers & all the rest of us cheering them on through the hoops.7

Wow DfV
really sorry I haven’t been back to thank you for the good wishes for DGD
all a bit hectic ,halls accepted an deposit paid by me !
DH accurately assessed a while ago ,that it would probably be us doing most of the financial supporting and we’ve been putting money aside for a long time .She will get nearly the max maintenance loan which will cover accommodation this year.but her father is basking in reflected glory but doing nil practically.
DGS then stunned me by achieving 8 GCSEs at grade 4 or above (mostly above)
he is v happy and determined to do Alevels at the same college.
he really isn’t suited to A levels ,but is only just 16 ,will be exposed to far more choices than he would be at school ,so plenty of time to change his mind .
Anyway thank you all ,I will be reading and joining in much more now10
