For yesterday,
An indolent day spent at home after a rough week at work for Capt S, he had a good long lie-in while I enjoyed the morning peace ☺️Roast pork for lunch, did roast pots as well, first time in quite a while as weather felt very autumnal. I would like a bit more summer yet please.
Downloaded and listened to first instalment of CJSamsom’s Heartstone.
Did manage to rouse ourselves and took small dog for a long walk around the fields, dodging showers as we went.
Watched the latest adaptation of the Go-Between, the pleasure of the Ted Burgess swimming scene is one that will stay with me for quite a while!11 -
Lainey, you’ve inspired me to plan in a Sunday roast a great idea and favourite meal.
1 I’ve just meal planned for the week to a strict budget, and I’ve ordered in some fresh and frozen bits and bobs for tomorrow. Tonight is cawli and greens cooked in a cheese sauce and a grilled chicken fillet. Also both Lidl and Aldee are doing offers I will venture out for this week.
2 Spent 30mins in the garden, I was planning to read but ended up sunbathing, and I’ve just planned in to make sure I do it for the rest of the week. I will look less like a programmer working in a basement, I am so pale that everyone notices when I just look healthy! Whereas DH just looks at the sun and turns a deep tan.
3 I filled a recycling bag direct from the office and bought it downstairs, I will spend this evening sorting through it, and plan to file most of it in the bin.
4 Cleaned and sprayed all of the animal areas, the washing machine is still on the go. One of our little guys Nestle is so scared of humans, but a lot of work and he now shows interest in me, and as he won’t eat any sort of treat so is not bribe-able I have found he does eat both cooked and raw chicken breast as a treat, and he knows its kept in a container so comes over to help me with it now. Very slow steps but we are getting there.
5 Loving the Secrets of the underground and hidden secrets series going on at the moment.

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep, and I've never known bigger son to sleep so late!
2) Bigger son made a pinball machine to take back to work with him.
3) I polyfilled more gaps and holes around the house and did about an hour of sanding everything. Quite happy with it now.
4) The tidying up took almost as long as the DIY. 3 loads of dusty washing.
5) Fed the hens and cleaned the sleeping quarters out. Bigger son and I hacked back some nettles and thistles.
6) Made a proper curry for tea then a few fairy cakes.
7) Watched Ghosts.
8) My brother is coming round at 10 to look for meteorites.11 -
Oooft! Bedtime.Quick doggy walk this morning ( I’d a very sore foot , not had that bad for a while) but a much longer walk tonight and he had DD2 to himself in between.
Work. Oooft! Busiest Monday ever.Good tips.Chips for tea. Then dog in the car and away to big park to walk…oh my so much to smell. Met a friend and he’d a run with her dogs. But too many dogs for me! Obviously everyone had the same idea as us…it’s a nice night let’s go a walk!We started off with torrential rain then it brightened in to a beautiful day.
made my donation to oncology research today and got a couple of lovely emails in return.11 -
1. Stopped raining briefly so made it from car to work without getting wet.
There were floods in the road again. The worst in part of the road which never used to flood but now has a new build retirement complex.
2. Free lunch at work.
3. Watching the hens in the garden. They are all fairly friendly with each other now.
4. Had home grown courgettes for tea.
5. Reading my book.9 -
Good morning. Bit grey so far but sun promised for later.
Bala - so very difficult, made more so by current restrictions. Thinking of you.
S Sue - What a lovely idea. I predict lots of tears, with lots of love.
BoP - I wish you were here. I need Jenny's help for DGD's op tomorrow. It's her area of expertise too.
I went to the hearing clinic yesterday but they just checked the hearing aids are still working. I think she's a technician rather than an audiologist. Anyway, they are, so now on a waiting list to have my ears tested. Which is what I thought was going to happen yesterday!
Came home and took out my frustration on the grape vine. It's a beautiful plant but runs riot of not treated firmly. Chopped lots off and it looks better now.
Started packing away ornaments ready for the decorator coming. It sometimes feels as if we live in a knick-knack shop! Some have already found their way into the charity shop bag, and I'm going to do a second cull when it's time to put them back out.
Finished Baptiste. It was good. Nothing new on the horizon yet so back to Lewis!
Happy Tuesday everyone11 -
For yesterday,
Did a food shop and the emporium is having a refit so everything has been moved around, for someone who writes her list based on knowledge of aisles it’s a tad discombobulating.
Over to see pony, there were lessons going on and it was pouring with rain so she just got a pamper.
It brightened up in the afternoon so time spent in garden, strange insect on buddleia which turned out to be a Hornet hoverfly, looks aggressive but actually harmless and was happily sharing the blooms with the bees.
Lovely friend turned up with her dog grooming van, in went small dog and an hour later she reappeared well clipped and smelling sweet, bit like a doggy Mr Ben!
Pesto strata for tea, then we watched Uni Challenge followed by a recorded 24hours in A&E which needed the cushion of protection as there was an open fracture.

Pleasures 1-100
my granddaughter has got the grades she needed for her first choice uni (Aston)
given her fathers shenanigans at the beginning of the year and then her beloved grandad dying in the middle of the assessments in addition to the disruptions they’ve all had .I think it’s pretty good
I am proud and sad that her mum and grandad aren’t here to celebrate with us .
