and here's the loveliest thing that happened today - the head of the undergraduate medical degree (so quite senior and someone i am in awe of, balancing that role with consultant doctor) was interviewed for the uni blog and said, in answer to the question Someone at the University who inspires you? respondedMy colleague xxx (ie me) has been inspiration and friend to me ever since I arrived in the city. Her enthusiasm for medical education really fired my own, and all my best decisions have been made with her support ever since. In addition to her key roles in the Centre for Medical Education, she also champions other important issues around inequalities and LGBT rights which I am delighted to support personally and through the institution.

Congrats to son of Frith.
Aw DD, how lovely was that, especially from someone who you admire so much. Re the 100 match, it’s a works outing for Capt S and I’m very jealous too!
For yesterday,
A parcel of secondhand books arrived inc two in a new to me series set in the salt marshes of Norfolk, a Murder mystery set around a bird reserve, two of my favourite things.
With my girlie, small 20 minute window in school so quickly lunged her and then gave her some grooming attention which earned me some kisses.
Capt S needed to check on a site the other cathedral city so I went along for the ride, on the way home we stopped for an ice-cream.
Reading in the garden.
George Clarke’s remarkable renovations programme, an old barn which was done beautifully with lots of wood and natural materials.10 -
Recent pleasures:
Break in the rain on Monday, so went to local park with friend and even had an impromptu bacon roll for lunch. More rain later.
We came back to mine for a cuppa and after her saying she really wanted to get away, we booked 4 nights in a caravan in Northumberland (always wanted to go) in September with an overnight stop at a Premier Inn near Durham on the way 😊
Met old college friend for “lunch” on Tuesday. The halfway place we chose was so popular so ended up with takeaway tea and huge piece of cake at the picnic area. Not seen her for 2 years so huge catch up in the sunshine ☀️
Met my oldest friend yesterday for lunch at pub next to the river. Very enjoyable as usual and another good catch up.
Went to fill car up with petrol and couldn’t open outer petrol cap. Gave up and went into shop, came back and tried it again and it magically opened! Then remembered that it locks when the car locks itself when I get out of the drivers door 🤣. So went back and filled up.
Picked friend up from garage where she had left her car to be serviced. She will return the favour when I get mine serviced before we go away.
Have a great Thursday 😘

Well so much for no more work this week. That didn’t last long…just the eleven hours today! Waaah!Anyway tis done.We were out before the birds were up this morning. And still dark when the alarm went off.Nice welcome from the dog when I got home. The bit in between was okay. Lots of laughter in the kitchen with my kitchen assistant and a few tips for the jam jar.10

That's excellent, DD.
Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Bigger son drove home (!) and we went out for a celebratory breakfast.
3) Hens OK.
4) Finally got smaller son's child ISA closed and his money moved to his normal account. It took 3 phone calls and 3 trips in to branch.
5) Popped to B and Q while we in town, for paintbrushes.
6) Organised my phone call about being an Accreditation Mentor.
7) Painted all my sanding and filling, where the old storage heaters used to be.
8) Went with my brother to a bat survey on the edge of Crickley Hill. While he was working, I walked right up over the top and saw deer, rabbits and bats. Walked for just short of 2 hours. Also found 2 geocaches. Went back to the site and listened to lesser horseshoe bats. The site owner gave us all cake.
9) After the survey we drove round to the car park (or at least the drive, as the gates were shut) and walked to the top again as my brother hadn't been up there.
10) Got home and watched meteorites from the garden.

Sounds a great evening Frith.
For yesterday,
Rough night sleep wise so happy to get up and enjoy that first cuppa of the day.
Busy in the house, pulling out furniture and cleaning behind, washed down kitchen cupboards and sorted the contents, wiped down all the shelves and made a note of any shortfall in stores, preparation for the coming winter.
Made a loaf so fresh egg sandwiches for lunch.
A tiny blue t*t enjoying a bath.
Tried to read but eyes wouldn’t stay open so had a nap instead!
Exciting hundred match with the first 200 innings posted.

Oooft at a busy day .In at work early. Good company in the kitchen.Nipped home mid morning to take doggy out…would quite happily just have stayed with him.Tips in the jam jar.The most horrific rain as I was leaving and then an hour later a beautiful blue sky. Lots of overturned plant pots when I got back too…trying to ascertain whether it was windy or if someone had been round my back garden.Quick doggy walk with a beautiful moon in the sky.And alarm set for stupid o’clock so I’d better sleep!11

1) well friday 13th didn't start well - managed to get a shard of glass in my foot. in my kitchen. i haven't broken any glass and washed the floor on sunday so assume it must have come in from a dog or my shoes. tried to get it out with tweezers but no joy so phoned mum so the joy is she came round and removed it. Then we had a cuppa and a laugh
2) colleagues came round for lunch - was sooo nice to see them, bring and share out in the communal garden
3) the gentlemen went and the ladies retired to the kitchen (big kitchen) and had tea and coffee and a natter
4) after work went down to the phoenix and had a couple of jars with a couple of profs - one was one of xoh's supervisors and i remember him driving us round dundee in 1998 trying to sell it to me 🤣
5) then mennies to watch the Brentford Arsenal match - wow!
home to cheese on toast and a couple of sleeping dogs - they don't seem to mind their supper was delayed 4 hours, especially since they'd had an exhausting time of meeting people at lunch time!
