For yesterday,
A warm but breezy day, shorts and tee on.
Ordered heating oil, got a decent deal so not as ouchie as expected, friendly young chap on phone and we had an informative conversation about climate change etc.
New supplement arrived for my girl, smells lovely and I tested her on a dried marigold flower which she positively slurped up. Rode her in the school with yard owner as extra pair of eyes on the ground.
Quick trip into horsey town and found a few freezer bound bargains in the emporium.
Small dog is overdue a haircut ( happening next week ) and her spaniel ears are rather fluffy so she sat patiently on my lap while I gently pulled out several sticky balls that had been picked up on her walk.10 -
Happycas we got an automatic for DH so he could continue to drive for a bit longer .I’d never driven one before
after about a week I loved it so much I would choose it over mine ,when the time came to go to one car I chose to keep his and got rid of mine
you’ll love it .12 -
I found out that my childhood sweetheart died a few days ago. We remained in contact through life and I loved him deeply. As did all of my family both here and in Cyprus.
So yesterday was a very bad day. In between bouts of crippling grief my father was in great pain.
The pleasure is in the privilege of knowing and loving him. He loved me too.

Hello…not quite bedtime ( need to eat first) but will be soon as up at silly o’clock for work tomorrow
However no work today so me and my doggy had a lovely walk at 5.30am…not quite just us we saw 3 other doggies out at that time. But nice to be out in the quiet and peace of early morning.
Then from 6am I gardened. Dog away back in the house on his chair by this time! But a chop here and a chop there. Stuff in the garden bin. I now have space under my washing line as the peas are down. ( all eaten)
Round to mums. Tidied. Again. Till the next time! Went a wee walk to end of street and back just to get her moving.Dropped something in charity bin because it was in the charity bin bag…then realised when I went upstairs later that the pile for the charity bin was still on my floor so what on earth had I dropped off? Drove back to bin to see if I could reach it …oh no ! Well down the pile! It was the gazebo cover I’d put in a charity bag to go in garage to give to friend next time I was going over! So I’m sorry to whoever opens up a bag and finds a green gazebo! Then some work stress. So we went to the beach. In the rain. With the dog. And it was just us and the tide was so far out. Then went to see boss and I’ve dropped some responsibilities at work as I was getting way too stressed about them. And it’s not worth it. I’ve had enough stress in my life. So had a good cry and an offload and felt much lighter around my shoulders. I’ll still do some things but not others.Just going to have very late dinner of steak pie and baby corn.11 -
I'm sorry to hear about your loss, Bala.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Swapped EDF onto a standard rate, rather than economy 7, now the storage heaters have gone.
3) Hens OK.
4) Did various jobs around the house.
5) Chips from the van for tea.
6) An lovely evening as our little football club had a pre-season friendly - against Manchester United! Smaller son beyond excited. 2-0 down very quickly but a sudden fight back in the last 20 minutes meant 2-2 at the end. Our first match for 15 months. (There would have been one match on about the 27th December 2020 but it was snowed off!)
7) A former colleague texted out of the blue to see if I wanted a lift to my former pupil's funeral. I have decided not to go as I go to pieces in just "ordinary" funerals but I was very touched that she had thought of me.12 -

Sorry to hear about your beloved friend Bala.
For yesterday,
Lots of rain in the morning and breezy to boot but I was busy in the house and small dog just did dashes outside when needed.
Missed breakfast so early lunch of a ploughman’s with a hunk of freshly baked bread.
Into cathedral city to meet a friend, took a rain jacket which ensured it stayed fine ☺️. Met her on the market square and she surprised me a bunch of gladioli from the flower stall.
Two hour catch up over numerous cups of tea, our favourite cafe does free hot water top ups with the tea in proper china pots. My pal had a piece of carrot cake and I enjoyed a slice of cranberry & pistachio shortbread. Have to say for the first time since restrictions lifted I felt truly at ease.
Walk back to car past the cathedral, beautiful in late afternoon sunshine.10 -
Bala - sorry to hear about your loss and also about the pain your father is in.
1. Lots of little jobs done. Good that they are out of the way.
2. Long chat with a neighbour. I took her some eggs.
3. Another neighbour received good news about a medical concern.
4. Spending time in the garden. DH is using some of the enormous stack of rocks we have in a project.
5. Glass of wine in the garden.11 -

Good afternoon
S Sue -thank you for the encouragement. I don't know why I was such a scaredy cat about an automatic. Anyway, I had a little drive today and it was easier than I expected! Things usually are!
Bala. - such sad news. A first love is always special. And when you are so concerned about your dad, makes it doubly hard. Hugs x
A busy day. I think we'll have a few of those until this current family worry is sorted. But the pleasure is we are still able to help, if only by taking fish and chips and child minding for a while.
Happy 🌞Saturday everyone
