Hello. Well I’ve walked a total ( and beyond) of 520000 steps in July. I reached my target earlier this afternoon and promptly took my step counting watch off ! Be gone! And it felt odd taking the dog a walk later and not clocking up steps. I’ve raised over £1100 which is amazing.
Struggled with the alarm clock this morning but into work I went. Had catering to do.
Then I left car at work and walked down our woodlands. Stopped for a mental ‘breather’ at the castle and just sat for about 15 minutes and watched and listened and was accompanied by the hum of bees. There must have been about 40 on a shrub next to where I was sitting. Polished ( with my jumper cuff) OH name plaque on the memorial board and said hello to his tree as I walked past. I tried the other day to get in but too much undergrowth and there’s a ditch so I’ll visit when it dies back a bit.
Met two friends of my sisters from yesteryear on the way back so walked and talked with them.
Met another friend and had a chat then picked up mums prescription and dropped that off.
Then home and hello dog. Moved some furniture around ( as I’m want to do) hmmmmm will see. And pottered in the garden. Cut the grass. Lugged the heavy chairs into position and the heavier pots out the way ( unearthed a whole family of blooming spiders)
mini work drama to be dealt with. Sigh.
Walk with doggy and no watch. Had warmed up by this point.
Made dinner of chicken and salad and corn on the cob.
Just watered the garden. We just had spits of rain today didn’t come go much.
1) Woken at 1.20am by the return of bigger son! Had a chat with him then put sheets on his bed and we all went back to bed at about 2, I then had to laugh as he talks in his sleep ALL THE TIME and I could hear smaller son trying to rock the bunkbed enough to make him turn over, then do lots of loud ahem coughing to interrupt his flow of nonsense chat!
2) Hens OK.
3) Bigger son and I went out for a cooked breakfast.
4) Took bigger son back to work and had a cup of tea there.
5) Popped to Waitrose and Toolstation on my way home.
6) 2 beds changed and much washing done today,
7) Watched a bit of the Olympics.
8) Made 5 jars of courgette chutney.
9) Sainsbury's man called.
10) Had a message from my brother earlier so I might go down there and look for meteorites.
Went to feed store for chaff etc and had a chat with my horsey pals who work there.
Saturday is a busy day for lessons at the yard but I squeezed in a quick lunge session and then took girlie for a walk to cool her down. We surprised a buzzard out of his tree, such impressive birds up close.
After lunch I was Capt S’s labourer as he started on the mammoth yearly task of cutting our hedge, my job was to collect clippings, pile them up and then run the mower over them to chip them up into small bits. Small dog sat just inside porch and supervised ☺️
Stopped at 4pm for a cuppa and a slice of cake.
Carried on until the rain came over and then we called it a day.
Treat of a Chinese takeaway and a big glass of wine.
1. Spoke with my parents. Arranged to meet them on Wednesday.
2. Hens are getting on better.
3. Front garden is weeded and looks much better. It will stop me thinking I have to do it every time I leave the house.
4. Spoke with a friend.
5. Went to DS2 for a meal. We had a lovely time. The food was excellent and we all enjoyed ourselves. They are dog sitting at the moment too so a houseful.
Hello. Well July was quick wasn’t it! August already!
Worky work day number one done. Busy day. Struggled getting up this morning so I’m definitely going to bed early tonight.
Tips…in the normal jam jar! Hurrah!
Been a dry day.
Enjoyed the company of my colleagues.
Hello doggy.
Leftover soup brought home. And a couple of baked potatoes. DD2 says she doesn’t like baked potatoes so I’m just going to scoop out the innards and call it mash! Served with a mince round ( mince pie for those non-Scottish!)
Then I’m going to potter in my garden in my jammies!
Did anyone manage to get in touch with Pirate Pete at all?
well done mhags and haggis worky work for me tomorrow after 2 glorious weeks' holibags so a quick 5 for today before I go to bed 1) church was nice - 1m distancing, bishop presiding, am getting hang of singing in a mask 2) got some good ys stuff at mr t 3) went for 7k walk with dd2 - we were going to do 10k but she needed to get back by 6 4) made fennel soup - not keen on aniseed but this was lish 5) compline complete with glass of red wine. As we were only 6 we counted as a singing group so were able to sing without masks (if we chose which i did - we were also very spaced out!)
3) A very nice couple came from Bridgnorth to take my old storage heaters. It took us well over an hour to unwire them then carry all the individual concrete blocks out to their cars. Then I had to hoover behind them and remove the screws from the wall. I shall unscrew the electric switches tomorrow and fill all the holes before repainting. £50 for those will come off the mortgage tomorrow.
4) Some tasty meals today. Cheese sandwiches for lunch with some of the chutney I made yesterday plus radishes and grapes. Smaller son and I made a shepherds pie for tea, with peas.
5) Still watching episodes of The Missing.
6) My sister popped in.
7) My brother popped in later as he will help me sort the skirting board out (not fitted properly where the storage heaters had been) then we sat outside for an hour and saw 6 meteorites. It is not the peak times just yet.
1. Long chat with neighbours. Ones I don't see too often so good to catch up with them. They were pruning some bushes. The sensors on their car when they reverse onto the drive were driving them mad.
2. Nice comments about my front garden from someone walking past.
3. picking some blueberry and raspberries the garden. Courgettes are almost ready.
4. Enjoyed tea of gammon, jacket potato and cauliflower cheese.

Up early after a not so good night and oh, that first cuppa of the day.
Bit more labouring for Capt S as he did next section of our hedge, rain drove us inside.
Made a Lammas loaf plus a special Sabbat celebration lunch, duck breasts in port & orange sauce followed by a lemon & elderflower pud, yum.
Supposedly watching cricket but mostly dozing on the sofa.
The rain finally drifted away so nice evening walk with small dog.
