thanks Lainey re shower and also for mentioning crocosmia. I had been racking my brains to remember the name and also gunnera since seeing both at the gardens the other day.
2) One plumber reappeared to finish the central heating and take away the rubbish.
3) Hens OK.
4) Survived a visit to the dentist. I never used to mind going but have got more nervous over the years. I've only got one filling so I don't know where the fear has come from.
5) Chips from the van for tea.
6) A clean of the house after the works.
7) My brother popped in to look obsessively at every bit of the heating, every pipe and join. Whilst lying under smaller son's bed (!) he found one is leaking! It has a yoghurt pot underneath it now, until the plumber comes back next week to sign it off.
I planted crocosmia bulbs but they haven’t grown. It always reminds me of back to school time ( mid August here)
hello. A busy old day.
Up early for work. Alarm set for early tomorrow. Home. Doggy boy is seven today so him and DD2 enjoyed birthday pancakes.
She went to work. He played with his new duck toy.
Popped back down to work to do some diary work. Busy couple of weeks ahead. Round to mums. Did stuff there. We went a very short walk half way along her street and back. First she’s been out since she fell 2 weeks ago. Home. Found a desk and chair so arranged to go collect later. Lovely people.
They live near the sea so we went a walk along the beach. Sat and watched the tide and paddle boarders. Home with a desk a chair and a lamp.
Popped down to friends as they were making new garden furniture and ended up leaving with their old garden furniture! 2 hardwood chairs and table. Free Made myself a sandwich with tomato and cucumber straight out boss’ greenhouse. So tasty.
Gave neighbour across road some rhubarb I’d been given but probably wouldn’t use myself.
my glutes are feeling it today dfv yummy rhubarb mhags love it with ginger 1) olympics - bmx sooooo good 2) hm soup for lunch 3) botanics to meet dr g for my prize - just william and jennings - he said mr e would be in mennies at 5 4) then sat in the garden reading through a phd i'm examining - so nice to do it in the open 5) went to phoenix but my usual crew not there so went to mennies but no sign of mr e. thought s*d it i'm having a drink so sat with my laptop - 15 mins later mr e arrived. then dr g's cousin. then another friend, and then dr g so we had a jolly evening. dr m and mr g are in tomorrow at 8:30 - do i go or not?! (somehow managed to miss them on tuesday) bought chinese on the way home and dd2 and i now watching the triathalon relay.
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.
Yet more rain. I'm thinking of exchanging the caravan for a boat. An Ark, maybe.
Went to local outlet mall yesterday which was strangely quiet. Got some chinos for me and a pack of sox for DH for the princely total of £9.25 !!
Had a bit of a wobble about a pending operation for a much loved family member but am back on an even(ish) keel now. 'All manner of things will be well" as I always tell other people!l But it's hard to stay positive.
The garden is very lush. The weeds, though, are too! But it's too wet to tackle at the moment.
Reading lot of Agatha Christie at the moment ( literary equivalent of comfort food) but will progress to Ngaio Marsh next. Thanks for the reminder DfV.
1. A bedroom has been tidied. It had been used as a dumping ground so it is much better now. Some stuff thrown away and others out where they should be.
2. Watched Virgin River - I am enjoying it.
3. Trains not very busy in trip to London. Finished my book on the train too.
4. Had a good meal out.
5. Went to see Phantom of the Opera. It was excellent. I last saw it 34 years ago.
Chat with DB, loved ones are now starting to feel better thank goodness.
Bread made so lunch was plain old cheese & pickle sandwiches with homegrown toms.
Out to emporium but heavens opened just as I got there so quick dash in, picked up a few rtc bargains for freezer.
Thankfully the skies cleared in time for evening walk with small dog.
Watched a programme about the music of 1991 and talked about our memories of that time, crazily Capt S and I worked very close to each other then so visited the same sandwich shop at lunchtime, in another life…..
Seriously though, I know how difficult and painful it can be when loved ones are seriously unwell. So I send my love and as many virtual hugs as you can manage.
Ditto to all.

1. the olympics. i'm loving it and so thankful to have it for these days of enforced idleness 2. coffee with friend 3. cinema with DS - no-one other than us had a mask on, and it was busy. will do a lateral flow tomorrow, just in case 4. interview for my old job. it went OK, except it wasn't really for my old job. it was to teach subjects i don't like and vowed never to teach again, so even if i've got through i'm almost definitely going to withdraw. this is a pleasure as it is a decision made - and a relief 5. still to watch Virgin River, but am catching up with baptiste
I’d forgotten Ngaio Marsh ,a pleasure to look forward to a few years ago there was a buy one a month Agatha Christie deal and egged on by DH I got them ( you know the series wher it takes 7 yrs to make a model of the Titanic in weekly parts and costs as much as the original full sized ship did !) I do reread them often my other go to old author is Dorothy L Sayers .Peter Wimsey . Not had a very good week ,tired and low . This too shall pass
