Such sad news re the young lady Frith.
For yesterday,
Worried over family members with the dreaded virus so took it out on the cleaning, no less worried but at least we now have sparkling bathrooms!
Watched the team dressage, they did wonderfully well with relatively inexperienced horses and got a bronze, think that makes Charlotte Dujardin the most decorated female Olympian for Team GB, no mention of that on mainstream media though.
Was dead heading when the rain came over so, being the fair weather gardener I am, I retreated indoors to drink tea and watch an old episode of Wycliffe.
Only Connect and getting a few answers right.
Finished my book, The Midnight Library, certainly makes you think.

Sad news, Frith, even more poignant because she knew it was coming and planned her funeral.
Spent some time yesterday sitting in the garden before the rain came.
The rain itself a blessing for the plants.
Steak sandwich for lunch, thinly sliced sirloin on fresh tiger bread from Messrs Stockwell and Cohen's food emporium, salad on the side, finished a half bottle of Sancerre (Pinot Noir) - not just me, son also had some.
Watching re-runs of Friday Night Dinner on C4 on demand telly. Excellent comedy with brilliant acting.
Found some tunes from my younger days on Spotify - Footsee by Wigan's Chosen Few (number 1 in 1975), Catherine Parr from Rick Wakeman's The Six Wives of Henry the Eighth album. Now on my playlist.
Amused myself by finding Northern Soul dance tutorials on You Tube. I draw the line at the drops and spins. I must remember I am not 17 any more.
Evening meditation ceremony to send healing to friends who need it.One life - your life - live it!13 -
Nargle, Frith - it’s just plain wrong, isn’t it? Yet for no adequately explained reason the world keeps on spinning. The virus doesn’t make the traditional activities any easier & the younger, the larger the turnout.

Frith, it's all so heartbreaking. Commiserations in abundance.

3. train journey back from ICT was ok
4. went out with the escape committee - former colleagues, including my friend who i've known since day 1 of birmingham poly in 1983 but haven't seen since before the pandemic. She's now a granny!!
5. had whitebait followed by sea bream in restaurant
and today
1. slept ok despite weighty arm
2. went in to town to meet different friend for lunch
3. OH met me off the train and we did the shopping (this not being able to drive is a pain already)
4. cup of tea in the garden
5. will watch a film later
have a good evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
Good afternoon
Frith. That is so sad. No teenager should have to plan her own funeral. Teenagers are supposed to be carefree and think they are immortal.
Mhagster - thank you for that. I've never heard of couchtuner.name so I'm going to check it out.( Don't have Disney!)
Bala - hang in there x
Back home again to tremendous thunderstorms. We were so lucky with the weather while we were away.
The weeds have taken advantage of our 4 whole days absence and grown like billy-o.
Nice tea of oven veg and haddock, to use up old veg lurking in the fridge.
Happy stormy day everyone11 -
Hello. Oh it’s so dark already! ( like I know it’s almost 11pm but was dark when I went out just after 10pm with the doggy.Up early , very quick doggy walk and then into work for 90 minutes. Then home and a big doggy walk. Through the very wet fields we went. Both soaked! But good to walk and to see the yet again changing scenery as we move through summer. More muted tones from the purple of the thistle, the gold of the fields of wheat and the burnish of the dock seed heads. After a wet start it stayed mainly dry with just the odd light shower. But the garden and a good soak.We had a hospital appointment to go to today. Managed to get about the very last parking space!Went to our woods and had a good wander round, met a friend and had a nice chat with her.I’ve raised over £1000 which is amazing and three full days to go. I’ve walked 20463 steps today. Then had to go to mums. Then the vets to pick up prescription for doggy ( must remember to call tomorrow to pay)
And then home and hello doggy. Was doing some gardening, hard pruning, lots of things gone a bit crazy! Must have been all that sun! Cut some sweet peas and lots of lavender.Chat to friend on phone. Then very quick doggy walk!11 -
I was noticing the shortening day today too mhags well done on the steps
Sending hugs frith my mum was a peripatetic teacher for children not in school at one point of her career. Her experience with H, terminally ill with leukemia, inspired my PhD (her father's first greeting to mum was 'she's dying for god's sake, why would she need an English teacher' and after her death 'so very happy you brought some normality to her days' - my phd looked at the educational and psychological impact of hospitalisation on children in Tayside.
good to see your wrist is now on the right path to recovery vjsmum
1) having gone to bed at 10 with the windows open the sound of rain thundering down woke me at 23:30 - windows shut, though bathroom floor already wet! oh but it was good to have rain
2) walked boys up to mum's and had coffee then the most delicious lemon drizzle cake (we'd saved it from our picnic on Sunday) (picture below, my boys love my mum, though she does sometimes sneak them a biscuit - she says she doesn't but I caught her doing it today!)
3) walked the long way home and spoke to dad on the phone.
4) dd2 got mcd's for supper - not something i would have chosen but i have to say i really enjoyed my chicken sandwich - can't remember the last time i had one, certainly way before covid
5) just back from lovely cool walk with dd2 and the boys
MrsSD declutter medals 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐11 -
Thank you, everyone. DD - my aunty was also a teacher of children out of school, some ill and some pregnant, in the 1970s.
Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep, though cut rather short.
2) Picked my dad up and managed to drop him off at hospital without incident.
3) Hens OK.
4) Got home (by about 8.20am) and the plumbers were already at work. We now have 4 radiators fastened to the walls upstairs, and 2 leaning against walls downstairs.
5) Went with my brother as he was doing a bat survey. I walked up to the hill fort behind where he was working (Crickley Hill) and I really can't remember if I went there with a trip from University. Found 2 geocaches while I was up there. Got back to find the place inundated with lesser horseshoe bats. Saw 2 meteorites while I waited.
6) My dad is OK after his little op.12
