Sounds a wonderful trip DD.
Not strange at all to have some piece of mind SSue, fab idea for the rose.
For yesterday,
Up early, a misty morning that produced a little rain, soft as cobwebs as Pop would say.
Long soak in the bath reading my book.
A glass of Pimms whilst cooking lunch.
Watching Fridays GW, we both turned to each other at exactly the same time at something we had seen and agreed it would be perfect for the middle of our new bed.
Cambridge location spotting in Prof T, apparently some of it is was also filmed in Belgium, ah that would explain the yellow post boxes!11 -
Not odd at all, Suffolksue, you now know that events happened as they should, no "if onlys" or "what ifs", it was as it was. Good idea re the roses, they will last for years and look beautiful.,One life - your life - live it!12

oh Sue
A huge sigh of relief for you.
I don't post much on here because I am having the battle of all battles for my father. I actually feel that the hospital will cause his demise. Like you I was right and the consultants (yes 2 !) were wrong.
Unfortunately even basic nursing has gone to hell in a hand basket so am just writing another letter. Quite serious.
I am glad that you have no 'what if's'.
love

Good evening
S Sue - glad you have found some sense of peace. The roses are a lovely idea.
D Doll - sounds like a very good break. How wonderful to know so much about different types of music.
VJ'S mum - ouch! My mum used to say I could fall over a matchstick in a crack! I still can!
Bala - we know it's not good when a normally upbeat poster sounds so frustrated. I do hope you can sort something out.
Yesterday we decided to go to the caravan between guests ( DS and family last week, DD this weekend). I foolishly listened to the weather forecast and packed jeans and tops. It's scorchio! As a good ex girl guide and forecast sceptic I packed one dress but I can't wear that for four days so I think I may have to go shopping tomorrow for a cheap dress and wash the first one.
However I'm not complaining. So lucky to be at the coast when it's hot.
We tried painting some more of the decking fence this afternoon but it was so hot that we only managed one panel. That's 3 out of the 8 done so far. Not too bad.
Fish and chips for tea. Compulsory at least once when at the coast. Now time for a glass of wine on the half painted deck
Happy 🌞 evening everyone11 -
Working days done for the week ( there may be a couple of early shifts but that’s okay)

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Central heating men arrived promptly and worked until after 5pm. There are radiators piled up all over the place and the airing cupboard looks like the deck of the Starship Enterprise!
3) Smaller son coped reasonably well with all the changes and noise. He even made the tea, despite people coming and going.
4) The window company man reappeared to adjust 2 windows and the front door.
5) The radiator delivery lorry man also came inside (for the toilet) so it was a party atmosphere!
6) Posted 3 Ebay parcels.
7) Dad phoned to say his house insurance renewal was going to be £232 so I went online and got it down to £78. Also discussed Wednesday, when I am driving him to hospital for a much delayed operation. My friend on the phone yesterday said why didn't I take smaller son in the car for the journey - it's because I can't get them both in my tiny car at the same time! I can't move my seat forward because I'll be driving.
8) Watched a couple of episodes of The Missing.
Bed in a minute as I'm gritting my teeth walking over dirty floors that there would be no point in cleaning yet. Many radiators

ouch vjsmum
being moved by pieces of music is far more important that knowing all about them suffolksue
of course i waved frith
so for today
1) a lie-in and a swim - pool was busy but managed to do a couple of lengths of butterfly in addition to backstroke and breaststroke - i blame watching the olympics ;-) fortunately it was a small pool - long gone are my days of 33m * 4 individual medley
2) then a leisurely breakfast - lots of mushrooms, perfectly poached eggs, grilled tomatoes and a very nice sausage
3) our change at cheltenham went very smoothly, including time to get meal deal from Mr T opposite the station, all well till York
(not a pleasure the next bit - someone on the line near Darlington, no idea if accidental nor the outcome, so sad)
4) we got a coach to Newcastle and there was lots of space on the LNER train which was going all the way to Aberdeen hooray
5) 3 hours late but wonderful DD2 picked us up
I kept my mask on as DD2 has still only had 1 jag - have now done my lateral flow (achoo achoo), negative, mask off

Hope you waved as you passed Durham, DD.
Busy at work last week, couple of night shifts. Just about recovered, on days this Friday and Saturday. Heard the sad news a colleague's little girl had died after a collision with a car right outside their house. She was only two years old. Police investigation ongoing. Life can be so cruel sometimes.
There are pleasures though.
Very warm sunny days.
Senior cat has been causing some worry in the past week - off food, lethargic. Now more his fussy, purring self, drinking out of the kitchen tap again, licking tinned pilchards now. Must have been the heat last week.
Son was out the other day so I finished off the Black Forest gateau I had made. Well, somebody had to.
Hearing our athletes are doing well in Tokyo.
Relaxing walks in the park with dog, chats in passing with other dog owners as our dogs chase each other joyfully.
The first miniature pepper on my pepper plants.
The scent of philadelphus still powerful from the bush at the back of the garden.
Watching old cookery programmes on IPlayer, also home renovation programmes. Contemporaneous programmes often just don't appeal, game shows, reality shows, soap operas.
Found a dress in the wardrobe I had bought weeks ago for summer wearing. Never worn it, so yesterday I put it on. No major jobs to do, I had done a lot of sloggus domesticus the day before, so I drove into town and had a wander round the shops. Very busy in town, but most people wearing masks in shops. Just buying little bits and pieces, treats for myself, birthday token gifts for friends' daughter. Very enjoyable because I don't do that kind of shopping very often.
Enjoyed one of my purchases at home - Nanny Ogg's Cookbook (£1.99 from Oxfam). The penny dropped when I got to the end of her recipe for Strawberry Wobbler. That is one recipe I have to try!
Although Choir now finished I still run through some of the songs from the repertoire most days. One life - your life - live it!13
