5 OS pleasures in your day today - part 3

Evening all
My recent pleasures are from our day trip to Swanage yesterday.
OHs elderly parents are down there for a week with his sister and nieces looking after them so we thought we would go down there to surprise them!
after a 3.30 wake up call we were on Swanage beach at 7.30 (first photo) for bacon rolls! It was a beautiful day and great to get away from the searing heat to be by the sea. We had a lovely day and I had several dips in the sea and floats on my giant tyre, my favourite relaxation! The surprise went down well and we all enjoyed ourselves.
We had fish and chips on the beach and delicious ice creams. Didn’t want to leave but set off about 7.45 and caught the beautiful sunset at Poole Bay on the way home, considering I took the photos out of the car window, they’ve come out well.
We got back at about 11 pm but we had a great time and the sea air cleared the headache I’ve had all week, although it’s back today.
Much cooler tonight so here’s to sleep and headaches gone ! Night all 💤10 -
Thinking of you, SuffolkSue.
Don't tell me, MHags! Just got to the end of series 1. I watched the lot over 2 or 3 nights.
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) My sister's 40th birthday party. It was still slightly too hot, whether inside or out. Buffet lunch and trifle.
4) Tidied up the house to do the traditional "before" photos ready for the central heating to be fitted next week.
5) Chips from the van for tea.
6) Paid my contribution of the money for the central heating.
7) Watched Baptiste! My usual irritation at all baddies having to have black hair and brown eyes. Extra points if you have cheekbones. All the young men baddies look like bigger son. The Amsterdam parts were "Oh, the station! The skinny bridge! The Rijksmuseum!" I don't think they ever chose industrial estates that no one would recognise.11 -
Thinking of you SSue, that is an amazing amount to time to have shared together. xWow Paulie that brings back childhood memories, as a child most family holidays were to Swanage, my aunt used to own a hotel with steps that led directly to the beach, and a hut mum and dad owned. awww.I've just lost a long post so somewhat abbreviated.1 We have been using a coffee table we inherited from DF when we cleared his house, but it doesn't fit well, yesterday we weren't looking but happened to see a local ad for a solid oak coffee table that also lifts to a table top with storage under. We picked it up today, the chap helped me get it into the car, and when back I used a rug to drag it in. They even had a toughened glass top made to protect the wood. Its slightly imperfect where her do ate a bone on the side, but that suits us fine we prefer not to have to worry about keeping things perfect.2 We stopped in at homebase on the way back and picked up some unloved plants for between 50p and a 2 pounds for some beautiful lillies that will come back next year.3 Picked up an oxo measuring jug on an Amaz0n daily deal that DH has been looking for. I'm quite worried about DH at the moment he's not quite right and very not himself but I feel all I can do is keep an eye. He's not coping well with going out.4 Deadheading petunias in the garden, I think it's daft they produce too many flowers to cope with.5 We ordered in via quidco, always nice not to cook.13

Thoughts are with SSue and her lovely fella, hold fast to those happy memories x
For yesterday,
Much cooler so life a tad easier for a menopausal woman in her 50’s!
Caught up on a few chores inc wiping down all the windowsills with a damp cloth to get rid of the hundreds of thunderbugs.
Working girlie for first time in nearly a week, she had a real spring in her step.
Mini shop in the afternoon and treated us to a couple of rtc raspberry yum yums.
We watched the cricket, Capt S is a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to the bat & ball so not keen on all the razzmatazz but recognises that it might be what’s needed to get more young people interested in the sport.

It's just numbers, Suffolksue, names that we give to a period of time. You had the time together, that's what counts. One life - your life - live it!11

Good afternoon
S Sue- so sad. Lots of wonderful years together, but more would have been better.
OK - hope your DH picks up. It's so hard to know what to do for the best.
Paulie - your photos are so atmospheric. Thank you.
Just now, nearly teatime, sun is beginning to peep out
Met DD for coffee as she comes out of isolation. She's been working from home but is glad to be free for the weekend.
Done three lots of washing and two lots of ironing today. Think I've gone daft!
Itchy hay fever eyes gradually settling down with the cooler weather. They've been dreadful this week.
Happy Saturday everyone
