Pleasures....
After two days of upheaval, hall, stairs and landing freshly painted, first time in about 15 years.
Managed to keep hairy dog away from the gloss most of the time. How she managed to get that white patch on her face I do not know.
First pickings off my mange tout plants.
Son back in da house after about a week away, you can sometimes have too much peace and quiet.
Made a gorgeous Victoria sponge yesterday, stuffed with buttercream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries. Pleased with how it rose really well.
Starting learning a new song in choir, Shallow by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. It's going to be a showstopper of a song.

Good afternoon
Thundery feeling here and so I have a headache. The pleasure is that I hardly ever have a headache except in stormy weather. My head's a barometer!
Back to visit poorly friend, this time bearing cream cakes. Her week of lying face down is nearly over. It's been hard. She is allowed to be upright for 10 minutes each hour!
Bought a very pretty verbascum/ mullein yesterday. It's a lovely plant but it seems as a 'herb' it cures all that ails you. I shall have to look into that.
Had to break off to fetch the washing in, but amazingly the post is still here. Rain hasn't eased the headache tho' so the storm's not passed yet.
Think I've just time to make banana bread ( with frozen leftover bananas - very MSE) before it's time to pick DGD up from school.
Happy humid day everyone

Enjoying Ampersands photo’s.
1 A very sleepy but relaxed day, up early but did a bit of writing and sofa dozing.
2 Having tried several times to gather up lavender and also having spilt it everywhere, I caved to ordering it, it feels extravagant but worth it when keeping the flies away with animals about.
3 Watching an old 1963 film, DH asleep on the sofa beside me, I will no doubt hear around football joys.
4 We’ve changed our grocery habits, as we got stuck in we must get them each week, it now works out at we need things roughly every 10 days seems to work for us and less waste and we opt for the cheaper delivery slots.
5 Enjoying a brief contented feeling.

Hello
It’s been a nice day here. Stayed dry and was pleasantly warm without being too hot.Alarm went off oooft! Up and at ‘em. Dog walked then went to work, in for an hour then home. Grabbed my litter picking stuff and did the other end of main driveway. Another bag of other peoples rubbish! Grrr. But it all adds on to the step count as well as being clean and tidy! And quite a few waves this morning…me : do I know you? Then after a few realised it was a wave of thanks for doing this.Another doggy walk. We met with friend who used to have old lady dog now they have big pup so H and pup had a good run through the field together then they went in their way and we went ours.Had to go and pick up mother who was nowhere near ready. Went to supermarket in town and she got some plants and then we stopped for a coffee there. Then down into town centre and we got her a wheeled walker doodah! That has brakes and a seat and a bag. This has been a long time coming and much persuasion needed ( they’re for old people) but with it we managed to walk down to the opticians, go to the bank and pop into a charity shop. And she did have to stop a good few times but hey…she had her own seat!In the charity shop I got a few bargains in the half price rail. A gorgeous pair of cropped jeans, a lovely heathery coloured wool jumper ( lightweight) that had corded elbow pads. A gorgeous emerald green ( very much my colour) top from Monsoon, all at silly prices. Then I saw a lovely plate /shallow bowl that someone has had hanging. It’s got a tree of life style design on it, beige-y in colour but I just liked it, so it’s had a wash and it’s on my dining table.Had to stop a few times going back up the hill to the car ( other way was less steep ) and then home. Hurrah! My mother is very direct ( rude) at times so I’d had enough by this time though she did say thank you today. And will the walker go in DD2 mini? Absolutely, she can put the back seats down! Thanks said DD2…my pleasure!I’ve just watered the garden and pulled a few weeds. Planted a couple of carnation plants in the veggie patch! It’s not doing very well as a veggie patch though the herbs are doing well so I’m just going to make it a herb/ flower bed.Chat with friend on phone. And now I AM going to iron some shirts. I have a few linen shirts that need ironed and I keep saying I’m going to but I actually am!Then it will be a quick doggy walk then bed with an early alarm set again…someone changed their order from Friday to Thursday!11 -
My pleasures are enjoying our holiday in Suffolk 😊
photos are Clockwise from top left Framlingham Castle, Thorpeness, Ickworth, Flatford Mill and Southwold.
All beautiful places and despite lots of heavy rain showers we are having a great time.
We are staying in a lovely cottage on a farm and my sister joined us for a couple of days and really enjoyed it.
We have also enjoyed several pub meals which have been a real pleasure after all this time.
Tomorrow we hope to go to Minsmere RSPB nature reserve if the weather is kind to us.
Hopefully work is progressing well on my new bathroom while we are away.
I’m glad the poorly baby and Mr PK are doing well.Have a good evening everyone, come on England 🏴11 -
nargleblast the victoria sponge sounds divine!
super holiday snaps paulieherts
ok not the best day at work - some tricky things to sort so let's find 5 mse pleasures
1) woke 2 minutes before the alarm which i think is a good sign
2) made time to go for a walk with dd2 and very pleased i did - she is going through a tough time - we did the woozle walk without the dogs (I'd already walked them) then i bought ice-creams for the walk back up the Perth road
3) she has booked 4 nights in London for October - £228 for 4 nights for the both of us, she is amazing! i have paid as she's not working
4) last of the kedgeree for breakfast and the left over buttery chicken did lunch and supper. yum
5) then the pub for the footie, sat next to dr no who readers will remember, having kindly supported engerland with DundeeDoll every match, was tonight supporting Denmark due to Schmeichel being goalie for Leicester and Denmark. The Kane penalty he wanted Schmeichel to save, i wanted Kane to score. so i pointed out to him we both got our wishwe are booked in for Sunday's final.

Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK and they had some porridge.
3) Had a general tidy up.
4) Went to Ludlow to look round the charity shops. Only bought a tiny brass rubbing kit (£1) that will be for little niece. Got some nice cheese to eat during the match.
5) The septic tank company had dragged their pipes all across the flower beds, snapping loads of things off, so I took the opportunity to do some hacking back and tidying up. The hollyhocks are doing well this year.
6) The match! Very exciting. My brother came up to watch it with us and smaller son wore the lucky hat. Brother has to get up at midnight to go to work so he would rather it had not gone to extra time!
7) Email from the central heating man saying he can come even sooner. This is the second time he has brought the date forward so he will start in just over a fortnight. There is no heating in this house (apart from the stove) so it will take 5 days.11 -
Today has been so much better....I got out of the house. Why is it so hard. But I did it and am very happy.

Yesterday-
Dog having her once a week four hour outing with the dog walker. This is how it goes,
- she runs and tries to hide when he calls (probably because she doesn't want to leave me)
- once pushed over the doorstep and with his lead on her she trots happily to his van and jumps in.
- four hours or so later the doorbell rings, She's sitting on the drive with him, schmoozing right up to him, licking his face, getting fed treats. That dog is a tart! (A reference to 1980s sitcom Bread)
Update phone call with Dad. He's chuffed because my Stepmum, who's nearly 91, has been knitting endless baby garments (jackets, hats, bootees, mitts) and sending parcels off to neonatal units in the area. The other day she received a really lovely thank you letter from the nearest hospital.
My front garden rose bush in flower. Two different flowers. It was originally a pink dog rose variety, but one year it developed upper shoots which produced profuse white roses of the conventional rose formation. Clearly a hybrid which had reverted to two separate plants. It's a wonder to see, the pink blooms around the bottom and masses around the top.
Pizza, lager and cake last night. The Victoria sponge is nice with the buttercream, strawberry jam and fresh strawberries, but I have also done it with fresh whipped cream in the past, and that's even nicer.
The football. For someone who isn't really a fan of the game it was good telly. One life - your life - live it!11
