Oh I was somehow logged out and couldn’t get back in but here I am!Trying to be calm after a very trying last couple of hours!Up early, quick doggy walk then in to work. Did an hour and a half. I’m in every day for next seven. Oooft. So I really wanted a nice calm day.Quick chat with the delivery driver for next doors business…he’s away his holidays for two weeks so I won’t see him! Oh okay. Have a lovely time!Home and went a big doggy walk .Then home again. Cut grass and painted the other side of the gate. Have a wee bit of paint left to do a wee bit of the gate that’s covered when it’s shut but not when it’s open…we’ll I hope it’s enough as it’s nearly all finished!Negotiated with my energy supplier who were wanting to increase my monthly DD by an extra £19…even though I’m using about 50p of energy a day just now! They gave me this big spiel about blah blah blah…I told them I’m a widow on a single person income and it was a totally different tone! Of course I could keep it as it is. Have agreed to up it by £6.00 and see how it goes. Then I may have snoozed on the garden sofa and woke up frozen!DD2 home on a split shift so I’d made chicken goujons and some croutons and we had a big bowl of salad with those. Nice. She went back to work.
Some work stuff to do.Needed to clear my head after that so grabbed a doggy and my boots and we went over the very wet fields. The grass is so long, I’ve not been in at least a week and it looked like no one else had in a particular bit we walk on. ( it’s usually flattened down ) so was wading through thigh high grass at one point wondering why? But the views were worth it. Even if we were both absolutely soaked through. So towel dry for him and then a hot then cold shower for me and jammies on!Clothes are set out for the next couple of days ( hardly a difficult choice…black jeans and black tee shirt! But it just saves a few minutes in the morning. Alarm set for the morning. I don’t need to be in as crazy early tomorrow. We’ve had some heavy showers which is good for the garden. If anyone watches Virgin River on Netflix there’s a new series …that’s what I’ll be watching this evening.11 -
Left our holiday cottage this morning and went home via Lavenham.
Beautiful village full of old buildings and free entry to the Guildhall as we are NT members (MSE bit 🤣).
OH stocked up on his Adnams ale in the village shop as we couldn’t carry it when we were in Southwold and we also bought some fresh scones and clotted cream (and some for friend) for a treat at home. Brought home some homemade blackberry jam from the cottage so that will be lovely for a cream tea tomorrow 😋
Good journey home and the builder has left us with a working loo and basin as promised but I think it’s going to be a long job as his work colleague has left ☹️
Pizza for supper and early to bed 💤12 -
Pleasures for today (Saturday)
1) Not a bad sleep. especially as I was in a hotel bed. Woke at 6.50 to messages from bigger son who is still having a good time at work.
2) Good breakfast at the hotel. We went because it was posh (as we were going for 1 night!) and it was fun to see a footballer plus expensive cars outside. It wasn't really anything special though, so we will go back to our normal Jury's Inn in Manchester in future.
3) We spent 30 minutes in Manchester Piccadilly watching the trains leaving.
4) Went to the Art Gallery and I enjoyed a look round the Grayson Perry exhibition based on works people had sent in during lockdown. Had a cup of tea in the cafe there which was a friendly place.
5) We couldn't get over using public transport (there isn't any here!) so got over excited every time we had to use a bus or tram. We still can't deal with the fact there are free buses. When I was young, it was a 3 mile walk to the bus stop (well, obviously it still is!!) and there was ONE A WEEK.
6) We were recommended a cafe so had booked a table for 2pm but it was awful! So loud and weird that we left quietly and had waffles somewhere else.
7) Sensible journey home, stopping at Sainsburys on the way.
8) The cat deigned to be picked up and stroked, which is rare.
9) Watched Casualty.
10) Smaller son won a competition for a really good computer mouse!12 -

For yesterday,
Lie-in followed by boiled egg and marmite soldiers.
Busy morning, made bread and pottered in the garden, kept feeling a bit of rain on my arms but didn’t come to anything.
Over to see my girl after lunch, it was very muggy and warm so we just ambled along in walk most of the time.
Saturday tea of butchers sausages in warm baguettes.
Caught up with GW and had a few games of Yahtzee.12 -

4 The rose DH s favourite carers bought me after his death has two beautiful red blooms with more to come ,It’s called’Never Forgotten’
5 survived my first birthday followed by Father’s Day without him.
Still doing battle with Premium Bonds ,they tell me part of the Bereavement Service has been outsourced to Chennai which is in lockdown. They can’t tell if my form is still in England or being dealt with there .They won’t tell me the figure before the form is processed but insist they want probate .I need the figure for probate so round and round we go .
asked them what would happen if I needed the money for funeral costs(I don’t) ,There’s a form for that !!!!.
I raised a complaint but that’s been rejected as it’s out of their control .
you couldn’t make it up !13 -
Art'noon all.
Pleasures for yesterday
1. Hanging curtains, buying cushions etc following builders work
2. bbq for tea
3. Watching the birds squabbling over the newly filled bird feeders
4. Having a cuppa in the garden with its newly mowed lawn
5. Banked.
Hugs Sue, it must be so hard. Can you not get some help with the not sleeping?I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Oh Sue it’s a hard enough time without bureaucratic crap! I had one particularly awful pension company that were soul destroying. Even if you can’t sleep please just try and rest. I’d make myself stay in bed till a certain time then ‘allow’ myself to get up if I was still awake. But I still don’t sleep so well.Workety work day number one of seven. Oooft! Busy.Tips in the jar for OH charity ( for all of July)
had a nice walk with doggy this morning, I love the peace and quiet. The sound of just our footsteps and the birds.Had a lovely chat with DD1 this morning too, between the doggy walk and going out to work. She showed me round her new house. Had laundry room envy and then lemon tree envy! Groaning with fresh lemons.I’ve a few new pairs of same red boots ( Fly London, bought in sale) and wore one of them today as my blue work boots were still sodden from our walk yesterday evening. The style suits my foot problems so I hope to have a pair for work, a pair for doggy walking / gardening and a pair to be at least a bit decent. They’re always a bit ‘firm’ initially then they are the most comfy things, so I got to about 2pm and then had to go out to the car for my sandals!Just waiting on tea being delivered!Well over my step target today just back and forth at work…all adds up!12 -
Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems with Premium Bonds, Sue. MHags - I remember the stupid pension company.
Pleasures for today (Sunday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) 2 loads of washing done. One put away and one still hanging, nicely rained on, out on the line.
3) Hens OK and I picked a bowl of soft fruits. Currants for the freezer and raspberries and alpine strawberries for this evening.
4) Cleaned the bathroom, the living room, mountain of washing up and changed bigger son's bed.
5) Picked up bigger son from work at 5.30 and he is very happy. Dropped him off at his friend's and am waiting for a message to pick him up again.
6) Watched the football with smaller son and my brother. The lucky hat did not work this time. I made brownies with Terry's chocolate orange segments on top.
7) A lie in tomorrow as smaller son's college is closed for 10 days after a coronavirus outbreak.12
