Late post due to watching footie at the pub
1) did some gardening beforehand church (good move as chucked it this afternoon)
2) I hadn’t lost my fave facemask on Friday - trotted back after church and some lovely person had hung it on a bush
3) did some mending while listening to radio 3’s early music programme which was lovely
4) watched the footie with dr no and mr g. Goodness our last booked table. It’s been great but a heck of a lot of anyone but England’s Scots which still takes me by surprise. Having ‘f*ck the english’ yelled at me afterwards was disconcerting - glad I wasnt walking home on my own
5) have aged dr no by a year oops. I thought his friend had said he was 60 tomorrow - he said only 59. I gave him a card which he said he’d open at midnight. oops again but it’s the thought that counts - roll on EFL!

Good morning
Touch of pathetic fallacy here in our grey overcast weather.
M Hagster - thanks for the heads up re Virgin River. I like that.
S Sue - oh no! How difficult can it be to set up a simple working admin system. I'm so sorry you are having additional difficulties put in your way.
D Doll - the vehemence and vitriol that football can unleash never ceases to amaze, and frighten, me.
Recently
Had a lovely afternoon on Saturday meeting friends we've not seen for nearly a year. Good weather, good food and lots of chat and laughter. Much needed.
Sunday morning met DD and partner for breakfast at our favourite garden centre. Handed over the last two re-covered cushions. I got better as I went along, so I was quite proud of those two.
DGC came to visit in the afternoon so we were busy bubble blowing, hopscotch hopping and painting two old and tatty garden ornament hedgehogs in vivid colours.
And then the football. Neither DH or I usually watch any sport but we did last night. I just wanted to hug them. They are so young! And were so upset.
Happy grey day everyone

Sorry to hear that the PB are still being so difficult SSue, dare I suggest R4’s money box, bringing things to their attention seems to get things done?
Thats horrible re the vitriol suffered DD, sadly there is always a nasty element as testified by resident Danish fans.
For yesterday,
Lovely Sunday at home, what we always call a Larkin day.
Prof N Fitzpatrick on DID, good music and a real insight into what drives him.
Most of the afternoon spent in the garden, reading our books and sharing a jug of Pimms.
Long walk around the fields with beloved and small dog.
The football, such heartbreak for our young team but they should be rightly proud of all they have achieved so far.9 -
Ah Lainey, any mention of Pimms brings &'s maman to mind. Alcohol not part of &'s NZ upbringing, but Pimm's was Marion's summer drink. She thought it was a 'fancy' mixed fruit punch/cordial.
#
Suffolk Sue, agree with Lainey re: R4's Money Box, but your strongest 1st call should be to your MP, regardless of Party. Diarise that person's attitude+action/inaction for Money Box.

1 - umpty. Saturday's Shelford 7s Festival was brilliant. Total success. & had lucky church jumble buy 1st thing - superb bnib ½doz. tall Bohemia Crystal tumblers made an extra & donation for charity raffle. Easily £70-80 all day long, even on the Bay. Promised bot.of VG Hawkes Bay red was already in car. Over £1k raised by 5pm! Bossy & was on Graveyard Shift, 6pm>1am, for parking+leaving. All went well. Lovely team. Later, much directing of cabs to waiting bays, while passengers were found/extracted.😙😚🤭🤫🤐
2. Decided on 'duty' outfit: full-length peacock fabric summer dress+extra peacock chiffon fabric thingy bits😁🦚. Had forgotten both+still no idea where either came from, but 'twas an ensemble much pinged, even by our 1st XV!😁
2. Over 400 players and way more supporters, many as scratch teams, with matches all day long from 8a.m. during a day of perfect rugby weather. Fierce contests, chaps+ladies. One highlight was the wonderful close huddle+high volume harmonic singing by a Pasifika team after they received their Cup down on the pitch. Spontaneously it came, with words including The Lord's Prayer, our far ocean, love for the islands, for planet Earth, a full Thanksgiving song. Hardened all-day crowd hushed. There were tears among listeners. Completely magnificent and extraordinary, then cheers and applause.
3. The much prayed for person and surgical team - call came yesterday.
Induced coma emergence+management continuing. First hint that a critical corner is perhaps turned.
4. & loves her antique plumb line, many reasons. Perfect reference(Amos)in early service yesterday( ref.osp 3), before heading back to Shelford RUFC. Clean up time. Lots of overnight tents still on pitch 4. People slowly leaving, asking about next year already.
5. Then took self to a middle of nowhere for Wimbledon commentary.....🤬 Inevitable result, unwanted by &. Oh, this is supposed to be an osp. Round ball came on......compare and contrast. Cut away from that too, when R5 commentator had to explain the Italian anthem was being booed to the extent he could hear nothing else. Now knowing subsequent news - vandalism, gbh, attacks on non-white skins and foreign visitors, seeing the mess and destruction, the defacing of young Marcus Rashford's mural.....

Doing a small remove to shelter. Thunder fly pestilence has been driving & mad outside. Will they stop now it's raining?

Agree Lainey T. but lovely hugs and comments on FB page. And nothing like what some people have to put up every bloomin' day :-(
1) woke, thought good alarm hasn't gone off yet, woke again, though hmm just check the time - 8:23 - had forgotten to save when i set the alarm! but a good night's sleep. Fortunately we had mum's car and dd2 was able to give me a lift to the hairdresser - he is sooooo lovely and we had a good laugh, not least about my non-romance with M. I have decided calling him Dr No is very negative so he will be M for Maybe (Mhags' suggestion I think) or M for Maybe not 🤣
2) bus back and only 1 minute late for my 10am (wouldn't have been late at all if i hadn't made myself a cuppa, good call)
3) despite the weather forecast lovely day so stripped bed, sheets now dry and back on bed
4) my very talented friend shared the beginnings of a scottish tune she is composing as a leaving gift for someone
5) left over pizza, salad and a glass of wine for supper. just charging phone then will walk the dogs and phone my dad
love to all, especially suffolksue

Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK and took 6 eggs to my neighbour.
3) Took bigger son to get some new shoes then to the walk in centre for his first coronavirus injection. Then dropped him back at work.
4) Stopped at Sainsburys on the way home for a cup of tea and provisions.
5) Burgers for tea, with chips and onion rings. Smaller son made a strawboffee pie.
6) Accompanied my brother to a bat survey near the wonderfully named Trumpet, not far away. I walked to the nearest church while I was still light (just) and back. A nice spot, but too isolated even for me to live there.9 -
Strawboffee pie sounds delicious Frith
See we have reached 1500 pages on this particular incarnation of the 5osp thread, that’s a lot of pleasures ☺️
For yesterday,
Bad night so had a lie-in until 8.
Did a food shop, nicely quiet and used vouchers.
Went over to see equine girlie, bit annoyed as she had her waterproof rug on as apparently it had been raining first thing but 20 degrees so she was hot & itchy. Washed her down and put her back out with no rug. She is a horse and can cope with rain as I have said many times!
Tasty tea, chicken thighs and a little LO chorizo on bed of veggies, not much washing up either.
The return of Only Connect and Uni Challenge, we love our quiz Mondays.

I like the sound of Dr Maybe! (Missed a trick - should've called myself that when working on PhD! 🤣)
I like Virgin River too - I need to check out the third series.
Pleasures for Sunday
1. Friend came for coffee and we put the world to rights - was also able to show her all the renovations. There've been quite a lot as she hasn't been in the house for a year and a half!
2. A bubbly bath first thing watching a "Who do you think you are?" that i hadn't seen - Ruby Wax
3. clean bathrooms and bedroom
4. Cooked a roast beef dinner - amazingly i cooked the beef perfectly rare!
5. The football. I'm not particularly a follower, would root for the Welsh before the English but i like this young team and wanted them to win. Was a good match. The funniest thing was watching with DS who is an avid non-England supporter but who thought it was a brilliant game of football. He was going "One thing about Deccie (Declan) RIce is that he effin loves West Ham" in a mockney accent 😂 ("wun fing, right, wun fing you should know abaht Deccie Riice is that 'e f*ck*n' lahves west 'am").
And for yesterday
1. Continuing to restore the house - downstairs loo (Have i said how much i effin lahve my dahnstairs loo? After 22 years of putting up with the old one, it now looks like something other people's houses have) now has mirror, loo roll holder, towel rail and soap dish and some fripperies.
2. DD had a fab first day in her new job. So pleased for her
3. Good, interesting meeting with sister in law and a professor from Oxford University (😳) about a project i'm helping with
4. Long lost family - one 'lost' mother lives where i was born and grew up (SHeerness on the Isle of Sheppey). They made it look a lot nicer than it is.
5. left over roast beef for lunch with warm sourdough baguette - yum.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens10
