Hello. Just in from a very quick doggy walk, business done and back in...was not interested in doing anything other than sniffing earlier on so I’m glad we’ve been back out, still light with a very shiny moon in the sky.
oooft the alarm clock was set for early o’clock! Back to work today!Amazing walk with my dog this morning. Over the fields, just us and the birds which included a heron overhead, three mallards and a very beautiful mistle thrush on the hedgerow between the second and third field we go through. Views to our island, sun rising on the fields and hills and just lovely. A good way to start the day. Then out to work. Work was worked. Busy enough, decent tips, good company but never blooming ending dishes! However got out at 4.30 instead of the more usual 5(plus) PM.Nipped into supermarket for bits and bobs to take to friends for her birthday tea.Home. Hello doggy nice to see you too. Quick shower ( hot then cold) and changed and over to friends and sat in her garden and chatted. She had other people pop in but DD2 and I were sat at the far end of the table so quite happy at the back thank you! Was warm in the evening sun.Messaged old boss in Melbourne about something and ended up looking at old photos from our work days there.11 -
Hello, WG.
Pleasures for today (Monday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Neighbour came round to borrow bits of my house deeds. I think her house sale has fallen through despite her efforts, as it is back on the market.
4) New neighbour had a chat as he had spotted someone looking for our geocache (between my house and the road) and asked them about it. He was intrigued so has downloaded the app!
5) Took smaller son to Tesco.
6) Picked up bigger son from work, ready for his dentist appointment (number 10) in the morning. His temporary bridge has already fallen out, which does not bode well... Just watched a video his girlfriend took. He had been strutting around in the B and B wearing her bikini top, not realising the owner was gardening outside. In the video he stops strutting and says, "The lady! The lady!" and dives behind the door !
He has been signed off on lifesaving now so had his first session supervising the pool this week. He said it wasn't good for his nerves when the children devised a game which was "who can float face down for longest".12 -
Welcome WG. This is a friendly and incredibly supportive thread.
1. Work happened. The wild flower area looked a bit battered by the rain.
2. DS1 and DS2 managed to get tickets for us all for the final on Saturday but used a wrong link they found online. We would be with the other supporters. There is a rumour that we may lose the tickets. Fingers crossed.
3. Managed to watch and eventually listen to a work related debate on zoom. I watched on a laptop and listened on my phone! It worked.
4. My flowers in a vase
5. Toad in the hole for tea - it seemed the weather for it.12 -
A warm welcome to WG.
Crikey Frith, smaller son is certainly not stature wise!
For yesterday- Midsummer or Litha, last year we got up to greet the sunrise but with a cloudy, cold morning forecasted we stayed in bed.
Baby rabbits, tiny things, eating the clover in our back garden.
Rode the beautiful grey one, she was forward going to say the least, the pleasure is that I stayed on board.
Leftover pulled pork in rolls for lunch.
Spent an hour or so in the garden pulling up weeds.
We didn’t fancy watching any of the evening footie so got the Yahtzee out and had a few games of that.

Morning all
PLeasures for yesterday
1. Journey home from ICT was ok - even though it included a dull 2 hour rail replacement bus.
2. Managed to get a delicious coffee just outside shrewsbury station before i had to get a connecting train.
3. Home and collected my newly repaired laptop. It was eye poppingly expensive but still much cheaper than buying a new one. That'll teach me....
4. DD and i went to see 'In the Heights' at a cinema! First cinema for 16 months. Fabulous film, so uplifting and very spectacular. Rather Busby Berkely - esque at times.
5. easy tea of smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - with salmon left for lunch today.
Have a fabulous day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens12 -
Hello. Oooft just came upstairs and it’s a tad warm. I’d shut windows whilst I was out earlier but should have re-opened when I came in.Just in from planting up tubs and pots at the front door. Went to supermarket this morning with a jingle of coins from the tip jar and bought lots of plants. Big geraniums ( remind me of my Australian garden) , little geraniums, bidens ( had never heard of them but they look pretty) also had some leftover lavender to plant so just spent the last hour doing that.Met colleague who’s on maternity leave in supermarket so had a lovely chat with her and some lovely baby smiles. And a lovely chat with her little boy who’s very chatty.Quick home, quick dog walk then went out on a fact finding mission! Had to drop stuff off at work first and randomly met an old colleague ( who recognised me before I did her …I obviously still look 23) quick chat with her, which was nice.Had a quick chat to DD1 on phone but she was a wee bit grumpy, she didn’t get the house she was after. There’ll be other houses. Then down to seaside town, had lunch which ended up for free as it was just a catalogue of mistakes! Good company and laughter and chatter. Food was nice too.Home. Hello dog. Then what felt like the biggest snooze ever. Woke up nearly two hours later. So it’s been a day of chatter which is always nice. For my tea I had some leftover from last night party food quiche ( left most of it friends but she didn’t want the quiche) and some sourdough bread and pate.12

Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Hens OK.
3) Had a cooked breakfast while bigger son was here.
Then another wasted trip to the dentist. Got there for 9am and his new tooth had not arrived. He cut short his holiday in Devon and booked another day off work for this. He was so cross he had to have a walk up the town before he let the dentist fit his new temporary bridge (the existing one fell out yesterday). They don't know when the new tooth will arrive. We drove off and his new bridge fell out before we even got home.
4) I stopped at Waitrose cafe on the way to get smaller son from college. Like the beginning of a joke, a Welshman, a Scotsman and an English woman (me) combined forces to rescue a bumble bee from the cafe windows and get it outside!
5) Smaller son had been setting fire to crisps in science.
6) Made a roast dinner with carrots and leeks etc. Some left for a pie tomorrow.
7) My brother came round and we watched the England match.
Would be a restful evening now but smaller son is ill, which is unheard of. He's either 100% well or in resus, so interesting to see how this pans out...11 -
Hello All
Saw a Red Admiral today. First one in years.
Some very very ripe grapes (had been left in ziplock bag in hospital) were about to be thrown away when I mentioned the birds. Starlings and Jackdaws had a fine time discovering and then eating them. Will try some over- ripe melon tomorrow.
The seagulls have found me. They start to circle even before I put food out. Have worked out they only go for bigger pieces of bread (so far) so am putting out lots of small goodies.
Went to charity shop and bought approx 13 books (am too tired to count) for 5 pounds. I know that's soooo cheap and am thrilled because they are in lovely condition. I have only read one of them and am happy to read it again.
Dad is home.
sweet dreams

For yesterday,
Some sunshine so washing dried outside for first time in days, was careful to avoid treading on the bees who have also discovered the clover patches in lawn.
Long-reined my equine girlie, she was well behaved and worked hard so much better.
Tasty lunch of brie with fig relish on a ciabatta.
My climbing rose is in flower.
Heard on local news that overnight temps were going down to a parky 3 degrees so warm fleece blanket popped on bed and small dog’s basket got a warmer one too.
