Pleasures for today (Wednesday)
VJsmum - I watched "In the Name of the Father" at the cinema when I was at university. I remember it, so it must have been good.
MHags - I'm guessing a "mince round" isn't Julian Clary doing a turn in your kitchen!
1) Good to get up after a sleep where I woke up many times. The last time was the neighbour putting the bins out - at 6.20a.m.
2) Hens OK.
3) Both quite ill overnight so smaller son had the day off college.
4) I popped to the cafe at Sainsburys as it has just reopened. Had a tear in my eye after talking to the ladies again!
5) Also, seconds before I went in to Sainsburys, had a call from the doctor's saying my lovely arm pit lump is just a lipoma. It was incredibly awkward to photograph and good that it is nothing serious (particularly as I hadn't been able to get them to return my calls since February...)
6) Smaller son ate a piece of bread then recovered in the afternoon so we popped to Tesco (his new favourite place) and had a wander around the canal basins.
7) Made a pie for tea.
8) Watched the first half of the France v Portugal game.10 -
Hi Happycas
Yes, I had Mono virus aka 'The kissing Disease' which is a cheek and a half. I don't allow that sort of thing !
The chest pains are absolutely anxiety/stressed based as I have had quite a few over the last 6 weeks. The last one was yesterday. I was in a shop and the pain in my chest and down both arms was severe enough to be scary. Thought I was used to them. Ironically had phone call from hospital today re appointment for sleep apnea (sp ?). Had discussed it with my doctor but as I asked him if it would kill me (he said no) I declined any further investigation. Clearly he has ignored me. I do love him tho'. He's easyish to talk to.
My Dad had a rough day today.
Watched a Blackbird walking across the lawn. It kept stretching its head out and down almost making a straight line from tail to head. Then it would pop it's head back up really quickly. I think it was scenting the ground. Really enjoyed those moments. Red Admirals galore, squabbling gulls, 2 beautiful delicate looking doves. Busy, busy bees......
Sue, sorry you are finding things tough. Oh gosh, words are not my forte, but I think you know that I am sending you huge hugs. It really is a moment at a time.
Love to all

SSue, I can't even imagine to know what you are going throu, and thinking about it, well safe to say heart breaking doesn't cover it. The plans you are making are so positive, I think you are doing amazingly, even thou I am sure it doesn't feel like it.Bala, did the hospital release your dad with any additional care support / carers at all? The reason I ask is I remember my dad had 6 weeks of people coming in after a stay in hospital to help, thou I think I also remember the dreaded budget cuts affecting it.
Argh I lost the pleasures so again slightly abbreviated.
1 We loaded up the car and did a tip run, it’s nice to be clear of the garden clutter that had built up, althou the tip chap nearly had heart failure, the car is 2m and they are a 2m barrier it was a hairs width but still.
2 The dentist was able to help, dry socket and infection, tooth packed, and antibiotics started, already started to kick in thankfully. I keep holding my cheek as it’s so swollen, a pleasure it’s being worked on.
3 Defrosted a freezer, well we were forced to as the door didn’t shut properly last night – ops, also a handy way of checking what we already have.
4 Garden watered, I find it a relaxing time, refilled the bird bath after watching a starling positively dancing in it, while it’s little one sat on the edge saying no chance.
5 I am about to make cheesy crumpets.

You are doing amazingly well S Sue, everyone deals with grief in a different way and as best they can, hugs x
Glad you are starting to feel better PK.
For yesterday,
We had sunshine and lots of it, smashing.
Lovely farrier came to do girlie’s feet, we chatted as he worked and she dozed, her feet are hard and healthy, so pleased that I took the decision for her to go barefoot.
Putting her back in the field and a pair of buzzards flew up from a nearby tree, such impressive birds.
Went to the garden nursery in the village for some potting compost and rescued two plants from the reduced stand, a Salvia and a Hebe, both should go well in the new border.
Watched the France v Portugal match with half an eye on Munich, most exciting evening yet.10 -
Morning all
Sue - as others have said, you are doing great and there's no 'right way' to do it.
DD - well done on the running. I did one C25k last year (as in one run) knackered my ankles and thought 's0d that for a game of soldiers'. Yet in 2012 i did the Great North Run 😲 !
Pleasures for yesterday
1. A day of doing little - deliberately so. Read a lot of my book in the warm sunshine
2. 2 loads of washing done
3. Went for a 4 mile circuit.
4. And did my first yoga session in a while
5. Watched Mrs Lowry and Son - a beautiful, gentle film.
Have a great day all.I wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
1 Up early and took our little ferret who’s on heart meds who’s also developed a tooth problem it seems to hopefully be an abscess which means no op, thankfully its being treated with painkillers and antibiotics, we had quite a wait, but we were not worried as actually, sitting on a wall, in the sun, cuddling an animal is my idea of happy. However we now have 3 ferrets to coordinate twice daily life meds for which is entertaining.
2 Fresh bird food attracted a whole host of noisy starlings and their babies. Also the woodpecker with a bad leg we thought had met it’s demise is alive which makes us very happy to see him again.
3 We might have got back and both fell asleep on the sofa for an hour before lunch, antibiotics are working well.
4 After lunch, I got on an deep cleaned all of upstairs, hoovered, dusted then vaxxed all the carpets and changed our bedding.
5 Cooked up a kind of chicken mince bolognaise base, batch cooked it for freezer portions and it tasted fine using up any veg and bulked out with healthy bits and bobs.
