For yesterday,
Up early for small dog walk so ready for a bacon buttie.
In the kitchen and listening to Richard Wilson on DID, also ISIHAC.
The sight of small dog bouncing up and down at the garden gate when she realised that some of her favourite humans had arrived.
A long lunch, we were nearly 3 hours at the table although had a break to wash up after mains, food all eaten and enjoyed.
Watched an old episode of Vera but fell asleep towards the end and missed who had done it, couldn’t ask Capt S as he was asleep too!9 -
Good morning everyone, new to the forum so jumping in!
It's cool and overcast here today (perfect for me as I hate hot weather and summertime is an exquisite form of torture).
I've yet to do anything OS this morning, but had a fairly productive weekend:
1) Used up some courgettes by turning them into cake.
2) Made a huge batch of mushroom and pea risotto (using frozen veg) which will do us a few lunches this week.
3) Took a walk yesterday to and around the local park. Sadly no decent pickings for foraging.
4) Cleared out cupboards, and found a few unopened gift sets from Christmases past - I estimate I can probably get though the next 6 weeks without buying any new toiletries (apart from toothpaste) just by using them instead.
5) Made my meal plan for the week ahead.
Have a lovely day everyone!11 -
Welcome WinterGirl87
A few for yesterday
1 I’ve just ordered one tonne of litter, it’s always fun moving it from the front of the house to the back, good exercise.
2 I did a little bit of weeding and planting.
3 I may have put both a cherry smelling and lavender plant by the front door to make the place smell nice as you come throu the door.
4 Did a roast chicken and paired it with salad for dinner and meal planned for this week.

Welcome wintergirl87. You are on the friendliest thread on the forum but are likely to be shortened to WG...
Pleasures for yesterday
1. More painting and the back of the house looks so much better now. As warm in the sunshine
2. OH had flowers delivered for fathers day from DD. He was rather chuffed that someone sent him flowers
3. Did a nice walk in the afternoon
4. Watched some of the Wales game. Glad they got through
5. Out for a belated 60th birthday meal for friend. Even better was that he paid 🌝
Have a good day allI wanna be in the room where it happens12 -

know what you mean owner of toy oven, my son is 6 foot 4 Frith
for yesterday, gbf's 66th birthday:
1) did a morning 5k - 31:14 - I am thrilled, amazed, disbelieving, but was measured by Strava so think it must be right (started c25k back in march barely able to run for 1 minute and needing the full 90 seconds walk to recover. aiming at 10k in October, but Dr No (a runner) says to stick to 5k for now, aiming at getting faster.
2) first service with our new Provost - I was given the task of the welcoming speech, duly delivered with no small thanks to the joys of the internet - was able to find out about Ravenscroft Dundee (the tune she had for psalm 121 I lift up my eyes to the hills at her Derby Cathedral leaving service and I also found her very amusing Twitter feed for her first 7 days in Dundee)
3) took gbf to lunch at the Invercarse where Suzy the waitress always asks me 'room number' and i always reply '101'. one day i will stay there just to catch her out ;-) then Botanics for a walk round and birthday cake - met dr garden who invited me to watch the wales match with him and mr english later
4) then woozle walk with gbf and the boys - met a church friend i haven't seen for ages as i've been going to the 9am and he to the 11am
5) then mennies - Dr No was also there - he offered to buy me a drink but Dr garden got in first, and although he left before me, Dr No did check i was going to be at the game tuesday. are we moving forward, albeit at a pace that would embarrass a snail? oblivious, when dr no had left, mr english told me about the barmaid after dr no. sigh. i think maybe i'm just not the type of person romance happens to. on the other hand i am very happy being one of the lads for the footieMrsSD declutter medals 2023 🏅🏅🏅⭐⭐ 2025

Brrr. Doesn't feel like midsummer day!
Hello winter girl.. You'd be fine here today!
Gosh D Doll. I'm struggling to keep up with all your gentlemen friends!
Yoga this morning. A nice gentle one because teacher had had a bad back. Nevertheless, after lunch I slept for about an hour. This has happened before after yoga. Must be doing me some good!
I picked some more geum from the garden. It looks beautiful in a vase with some alchemilla (sp?) and they both keep flowering and flowering.
There are 7 classes at DGS school and currently 4 are isolating at home. Not his class yet but I'm guessing it won't be long.
Happy midsummer day everyone10 -
DD - I read your post as “I Lift up my Eyes to the Hills at Derby Cathedral” which seemed rather specific and I couldn’t remember Derby being particularly hilly!8

rofl Frith that well known psalm
happycas the majority of my male friends are gay or happily married / partnered or both so absolutely no interest in me in a romantic way which is just the way I like it. dr no is the exception on certainly the first two and probably the third
1) sunny day so first job was getting the washing on
2) in between meetings did small jobs like vacuuming a room, hanging out washing, mowing the (small but it is a hand mower) lawn, watering my pots
3) looooong meeting meant i didn't get lunch till 2 but took my full hour sitting out in the garden, lovely
4) took boys for a walk at 6, talked to dad on the phone, lovely catch-up
5) and dr no gave me a lovely smile as he walked the other way on his way to his allotment. sigh.

Thank you for the welcomes
VJsMum - WG is fine - I've definitely been called worse!
Today, I made a red lentil & mung bean curry for dinner which was lovely. I'm also soaking some chickpeas which I plan to turn into falafels tomorrow evening. I haven't made falafels from scratch in years, so fingers crossed I can pull it off!
Have a lovely Midsummer's Day everyone!11
