1) A cooler morning after a decent night's sleep.
2) Seeing the grandpickles this afternoon.
3) New trousers arrived via e.bay and they're so comfortable.
4) Cancelled a Tesco order as we have enough already with forward dates to see us through.
5) Feeling we live in the right place for us...finally...and feeling it's a better place to grow old in.11 -
Many Congratulations DD
SSue, well done on the difficult meeting.
I have to be honest I wasn’t expecting to lose 4/5 days to the tooth extraction, I didn’t seem to react well to the extra local they had to give, and still feel dopey even today.
1 I ironically ordered in our grocery as we are cutting down on outings, but I then phoned the vet to chase a prescription to find little Nestle needs a 6 month heart check no problem, then of course it’s a consult and by the time I’ve checked the price for a written prescription and ordering it, I may as well get it there so a bit of an unforeseen spendy day, when my tooth has already damaged the June spend, these things happen.
2 The grocery chap was lovely and chatty about his animal rescue, he was hoping our little old polecat would put in an appearance but he didn’t oblige today. Lovely to have fresh bread again.
3 I ordered in a Tesco ready meal curry box as they are on half price offer which will be tonight’s food.
4 I may have had a brain wave, I am thinking of getting dh a 3d printer, he has wanted one since they first came out, and we held off for this birthday as we were bidding on a place to buy. Now I think it may be a great distraction and learning for his surgery recovery. I need clear a fair area so he has space for it but under the guise of just de cluttering which will just go on anyway.
5 We’ve just had a cancellation offer for DH’s surgery which great I think, it will be in 2 weeks now.

Pleasures for today (Thursday)
1) Woken by the light (or heat?) at about 4am. Then woken by the cat randomly making an air raid siren noise at 5am. Then fell into a deep sleep but had to get up to get smaller son up for college!
2) Picked up the quilt cover that my sister was going to mend (she ran out of time) so I can take it to the Repair Cafe on Saturday. Left a book I picked up the other day for my niece.
3) Also remembered stuff to drop off at the charity shop plus a form and a cooking container to take back to college.
4) Got my dad's father's day card.
5) Organisation for our 2 day break in Manchester continues. Today I bought the train tickets and organised the parking space by the station. Also booked tickets for the Imperial War Museum North. If anyone knows anywhere great in Manchester/Salford, let me know! The river cruise looked great with the ship canal and Old Trafford, but isn't running at the moment.
6) Did some pruning and planting out in the garden after lunch. The new (uphill) neighbours are always tackling some new complicated project. Today they had got the water company in to help them. It is nice to see progress on that poor old house.
7) Started to play a chess game with smaller son but he made a mistake so it came to an abrupt end. I decided to do a "Repair Shop" mend to the chess pieces box (1930s that I picked up from Oxfam years ago) so that has had a good clean and polish and I need some wood glue for a little repair.
8) The chatty Sainsburys man appeared and we now have food! There will be a large batch cooking extravaganza tomorrow.

Hello
Had written a post earlier and was just about to press send when the battery died so that disappeared!
Another quiet day. Dizzy Dizzy. I hate it but it usually just lasts a few days then goes away, very dizzy first thing and the whole room just spins wildly. So DD2 dealt with the doggy who doesn’t understand such matters he just wants his breakfast. She was at work all morning so I just pottered around slowly, it’s been a nice day here, pleasantly warm with a breeze. Washing dried on the clothes horses but she picked up a retractable line for me so that’s up! Hurrah! Also got me lavender plants so I’ve planted 14 of them to hopefully create a hedge around the grass.I bought a metal arch ( weeks ago) it’s been a work in progress so got that finished today, was no use where I’d intended it to go ( too wide) so I’ve plonked it in my raised beds and it looks okay. A few birds sat on it so I may get some hanging feeders to go on it.Watched a magpie having a drink in the bird bath.Had a nice chat with DD1 this morning. She’s got a new job and trying to sort out accomodation. Staying at a friends just now. She just wants her own place with all her own things that have been in storage for 15 months.Chat with boyo yesterday. He’s on his holidays walking and climbing up in the Cairngorms. Some worky stuff earlier on . The pleasure being it’s now sorted out.Huge chat with friend tonight, we’ve been chatting for almost 2 hours. I love that we always have stuff to talk about.
been watching Clarkson’s Farm (Frith) so I’ve been quite enjoying that. It’s almost 11pm and still just a bit light.12 -
Morning all.
Frith, the science museum is good (and free) and there's the football museum.
Mhags - hope you feel better soon
For yesterday
1. A day off! Nothing planned at all for a change. i did some decluttering, listed some stuff on ebay and marketplace and threw some stuff away, or loaded in the car for the tip.
2. Also made quiche and coleslaw with crumble for pud - used up a lot of stuff that was on the turn.
3. Did a walk down to friends' with a birthday card, then looped back to the pharmacy to pick up OH's prescription then walked past the allotments (I do love to see them but haven't got the time or willingness to commit to one myself) and through the cemetery home (i love the peacefulness and the trees). About 2.5 miles in all.
4. Watched the last two episodes of 'Time' - brilliant TV
5. A 'new to us' sofa arrived and is perfect! But is very light fabric so needs scotchguarding.
Have a great day all - i'm having a haircut and then we're off to ICT for the weekend.I wanna be in the room where it happens10 -
1. Work ok. Forwarded an email to a colleague. Someone had done all the work and is happy to share it.
2. Stuck to my very short shopping list.
3. DH brought sardines for tea.
4. Garden looking fresher after the rain.
5. Reading my book.10 -
Good morning
Bala - so pleased to hear from you, though sorry the news about your dad is not good. I hope you can continue to find some pleasures in nature.
M hagster - it sounds as if you're still v busy, despite the dizzy head. I hope it soon settles. It's an awful feeling.
Weather has been more variable lately, but the garden was very grateful for the rain, and now it's sunny again. Bet the weeds will be taking advantage of that.
Made a date and walnut cake. Never made one before because I'm not a big fan of dates but DH had bought some and then not eaten them! Anyway, they're fine in a cake so that used them up.
Finished 2 of D D's outside cushions now. Only 2 more to do, but now I know what I'm doing ( sort of) it's fine.
Watched Sewing Bee final. All three finalists were so young! I've been sewing about 40 years longer than they have and I'm nowhere near that standard!
Planted some of the date stones in a little pot. Might have my own oasis soon.
Happy Friday everyone

Feel better soon wishes winging their way up North to Mhags.
For yesterday,
Cloudy and cooler so could crack on with cleaning house, bathrooms done plus everywhere hoovered, dusted and wiped down, my desire to clean tends to go down as the temperature goes up!
Sold a couple of bits on eBay so packed up and posted.
Tasty lunch of toasted rtc panini with fig relish & brie.
Spent a social hour or so with my befriending match, had a look around their garden and planted up a pack of sunflower seeds they had been sent.
Dropped into the vets on way home to pick up small dogs medication and we are now allowed inside to pay.

Hello. Guess what? Another quiet day!DD2 dealt with doggy again.Changed bedding. Hurrah for new washing line!Finished watching Clarkson’s Farm which I enjoyed.Out in garden. Our sun was shining today.
washed cushion covers and throws from the living room .
Just finished watering the garden, has been a work in progress for past 2 hours. Which sounds like I own acres...more the bending down to fill watering can and then the leaning over to water plants makes me dizzy so did it a bit at a time. Hoping to be more normal tomorrow.
Had a tin of soup for my tea as DD2 out.12 -
Pleasures for today (Friday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Mum and dad came round for a cup of tea. They couldn't come while they were isolating and I hadn't got round to inviting them over the last month or so. They sat very quietly on the sofa, took their tea then said they thought I had asked them round to tell them some terrible news!
3) Posted some Ebay parcels.
4) Hens OK and I cleaned their sleeping quarters out.
5) Tidied up and cleaned the bathroom.
6) Batch cooking - lots of portions of Jamie Oliver's veg chilli plus several portions of Spanish chicken. All in the freezer now. Also cooked some chicken for chicken tikka sandwiches at lunchtime and some brownies to eat during the Eng v Scotland match.
7) A garden full of neighbours (although not for a happy reason). Downhill neighbour, who has emptied her house out over the last few days, has had her buyer pull out, 7 days before moving. We went through my deeds as their buyer wanted proof that she has access to the septic tank.
8) Chips from the van.
9) Watched the football.
10) Went to pick my brother and brother in law up from the station but it turned into an epic adventure and I've just got home! They ran through Birmingham and saw a train in the station so got on... I merrily drove to the station where I had been told to expect them. Their train took them to another station so I tried to drive there, only to find the A38 completely closed and a complete lack of side roads to nip across to where I needed to be (not my neck of the woods at all). So they had to get on another train to the station where I had parked originally!
Need to go to sleep now as I am going to the Repair Cafe in the morning.12
