congratulations DD
just back from a v productive meeting at the hospice in response to my letter/ complaint.
Having reviewed DH notes they were horrified at their inactions ,many apologies and I think a genuine desire to change .
as I said to them they can’t unsend their letter or change the way they treated him but hopefully can learn from it and put into place safeguards to prevent it happening again .
Pleasures
1 was listened to
2 apologies made and accepted
3 good lunch with friends beforehand ,they were unaware what had happened and I didn’t tell them .
4 my lovely gardener who comes and works wonders so I can just potter
5 heard a cuckoo whilst walking on the water meadows on Sunday
i have a question for the widows amongst us : Do you think there is such a thing as ‘widow brain’ like baby brain ?my concentration is awful,I’m continuing forgetting/mislaying things and I continually miss cues in conversations.
to the extent that sometimes I wonder if I have early dementia12 -
There's lots going on in your head, Suffolksue, admin stuff, practical stuff, processing the emotional stuff etc etc. You are processing a big, significant life event so no wonder you get brain overload now and then. It will settle in its own good time. One life - your life - live it!13

Sue first of all it’s such early days and there will still be so much to process, accept, realise, ascertain your new role when so much of your old role has now gone. I still four years plus on don’t have a particularly long attention span. Find it hard to do just one thing. My mind fluttering on to the next. I can’t watch a full program, read a book, without my mind wandering. But I always need something to do, I like a list that I can break down into smaller ‘to do’s’ and like to tick them off ( but I’ve always done that)
Yet I’ve organised a lot of things in my home life and my work life is about being very organised. I was recently interviewed and asked what my strengths and weaknesses are. My strength is my organisational skills, my weakness is being unorganised. That causes me much stress ( particularly at work when other events / occurrences get in the way of me being organised)
My mind constantly whirs, constantly. I find it hard to slow it down. I tell the kids stuff then realise ( by the look in their eyes) I’ve already told them. You’ve had a a huge last couple of years culminating in a huge last couple of months with a huge couple of weeks and all with a blooming lockdown and pandemic thrown in for good measure. Just ( pah says me...don’t do as I do but more as I say!) try and slow down , stop for a moment. Take a deep breath and think ‘right, what’s next?’ Mark your day in hours or mornings/ afternoon/evenings ( for me it’s sunrises and sunsets) whatever suits you best.Another quiet day. Most of it spent in the garden pottering around, weeds, weeds, weeds. Always! It’s stayed dry but not exactly warm. Cool would be a better adjective! Wooly jumper and thick socks.
Company of my doggy.Made a creamy and chicken pasta for tea.So many birdies in the garden...that’ll be the fat balls!13 -
Thank you both .I think a lot is due to the structure of the day being lost
I knew had to be up at 6.30 as the first carers came at 7 then so on .I still find myself panicking in town in the morning as I could only go in twice a week during my two respite afternoons ( I do realise how lucky I was to have them ) and I’m stil waking frequently because his breathing has changed .
I do make lists but will try breaking things down into smaller sections
Thank you13 -
Hugs to sue. Such a strange time. I remember that feeling after both mum and dad died so it is not a surprise. Take it easy
Pleasures for today
1. A more gentle day. Though still busy. Walked into town in the sunshine
2. My laptop is in for repair though the cost is not a Pleasure 😳
3. Went furniture hunting with oh. Didn't get the sofa we wanted but did buy some lovely curtains for the newly decorated lounge
4. Washing dried on the line
5. Both DD and DS have their first vaccines booked for Friday
Have a nice evening allI wanna be in the room where it happens11 -
Lovely day out today 😊
Went to one of our nearest seaside towns, about 1.5 hours drive away. Thought it would be a welcome change and cooler than the searing heat we have at home.
Took my friend who loves it there.
We had a bacon roll and cup of tea at the cafe at the tower, shown in the first photograph.
Then a walk along the Naze, beautiful wild land right on the cliffs above the sea.
Many beautiful sights, gorgeous poppies and wildflowers and birds singing and soaring over head.
it was quite windy and cool to start with but then the sun came out and it was pleasantly warm.
After a few hours walking and viewing we headed back to the prom, got our fold up chairs from the car and went to favourite fish n chips kiosk for a shared portion of the freshest fish n chips 😋 and ate them right next to the sea.
Another half an hour sat gazing at the sea, so good to see it after such a long time, and then headed home without getting caught in too much traffic.
A really good day and did us the power of good 😊
night all 💤11 -
Well done, Sue, for sorting that meeting. It needed to be said and hopefully they will act on it.
Pleasures for today (Tuesday)
1) Not a bad sleep.
2) Did bits of housework.
3) Picked smaller son up at lunchtime. There had been a hoo-hah over his trainers (!) as college couldn't believe he takes such a small size and wanted to take him to have his feet measured. He got very agitated over this as he hates feet measuring so I had to convince them that he really does have size 8 feet at 6 feet 3. The reason his feet have been looking odd is because he hasn't been wearing his insoles so his ankles lean in and his knees rub when he walks.
4) Have been given a few hours of invigilation (times confirmed today) at the high school where I used to work.
5) Made quite a decent pasta sauce for tea then we had tinned peaches and cream for pudding.
6) Watched Holby City.
Going to stop typing now as this forum is sending the line spacing etc all over the place again and it is irritating!12 -
Good morning on yet another lovely day
D Doll - congratulations. Well deserved, I'm sure.
S Sue - you are doing so well; organising difficult meetings, meeting up with friends, going to the wine group. Gradually moving forward. It's very early days yet but you have made lots of progress already. Be kind to yourself.
Paulie - nothing like a day by the sea to 'restore your soul'.
Yesterday
A beautiful day. I really am meant to live in a hot country!
Supermarket in the morning. Not too busy and no huge gaps in the shelves.
Collected DGC from school then off to Pizza Hut. We got there early and there was only one other family in so that was good. No ' serve yourself ' bit anymore, but I liked it better. I was never very happy with all that food being breathed on and possibly pawed over by other people anyway!
Back to our house to play charades and then just chill. It's so good not to feel like strangers anymore.I
Then take them back home, tidy up and relax.
It was a good day
Happy 🌞 day everyone

DD - congratulations
Suffolksue well done on the meeting.
1. Another work day over.
2. Chat with a neighbour.
3. Had a bbq with DH. 1st time we had used new bbq with adjustable height of the rack. It worked very well.
4. Watching a deer in the field.
5. Reading book.11 -
Many congratulations DD.
Well done SSue on getting your point across, hopefully it will all be taken on board and another family in the same situation will be dealt with differently.
Walton on the Naze Paulie? My grandparents lived in B Stortford and many childhood summer days were spent in Walton, happy times.
For yesterday,
A cool breeze made the temperature easier to do chores.
Bit of gentle work for the beautiful grey one, sponged her down and then I found her a patch of clover to enjoy.
An awkward situation sorted.
Trip into horsey town to do food shop, road closure meant a bit of a diversion and there were some grumpy drivers not liking the longer waits, oh dear. The actual shopping was a lot more peaceful and I picked up quite a few rtc bargain inc yellow roses.
Watched the football then a wander around the garden before heading to bed, love the light nights.
